A list of puns related to "Nba Championship"
Spurs goal this season was to get Pop the record so he can retire with it. It was highly questionable if they could do it.
They are now at the 10th seed, just 1 game back from the 7th seed Lakers, and riding a 3 game win streak with +87 differential in it, including +28 on said Lakers.
They are also the only the team of all western teams on seeds 6-15 to have a positive point differential, +2.0; Nuggets at 6th have -0.3; Lakers are -2.3

"We didn't win six championships because he got on guys. We won in spite of his getting on guys," said Pippen regarding Michael Jordan.
>"In the doc, Michael attempted to justify the occasions in which he berated a teammate in front of the group. He felt these guys needed to develop the toughest to get past the the NBA's more physical teams. Seeing again how poorly Michael treated his teammates, I cringed, as I did back then.
>
>"Michael was wrong. We didn't win six championships because he got on guys. We won in spite of his getting on guys. We won because we played team basketball, which hadn't been the case my first two seasons, when Doug Collins was our coach. That's what was special about playing for the Bulls: the camaraderie we established with one another, not that we felt blessed to be on the same team with the immortal Michael Jordan.
"I was a much better teammate than Michael ever was. Ask anyone who played with the two of us. I was always there with a pat on the back or an encouraging word, especially after he put someone down for one reason or another. I helped the others to believe in and stop doubting themselves."

>City of Cleveland we have something in common π π nice too meet you.β
Last week:
>After knocking down a clutch three, Kyle Kuzma told hecklers with a "LeBron Got Kuzma his RING!" sign that "It was their fault" & "Without LeBron, Cleveland wouldn't be sh*t." π
>Then he autographed the sign after the game.
Really high praise, and I agree on all 3 fronts too.
The short answer is talent - LOTS of talent. In the last 20 years, every NBA champion has had some combination of:
A MVP: The only exceptions to this were (1) the 2004 Pistons, who nevertheless had 5 All Stars, a DPOY and a 6th Man of the Year, and (2) the 2019 Raptors with 4 All Stars, 2 DPOYs, Kawhi Leonard (a perennial MVP candidate and 2 time Finals MVP) and a seriously hobbled opponent.
At least two All-NBA Defensive Team players: Most have had more than this, actually (the 2020 Lakers had FIVE). The only exception is the 2016 Cavs, who nevertheless had 4 All-Stars, a 6th Man of the Year and prime Lebron.
At least 4 All-Stars. By this I do not mean current All-Stars but players who were talented enough to be named to the All-Star team at some point in their career. The only exception to this was - surprisingly - the 2002 Lakers, who made do with 3 All-Stars, two of whom were MVPs.
The 2011 Mavs met all of these standards, by the way. People seem to remember that team as having limited talent, but it isnβt true. Several of its players were past the prime of their careers but they still had the talent to make valuable contributions to the team when needed. The 2011 Mavs had a MVP, a DPOY, a 6th Man of the Year, 6 All-Stars (if you include Caron Butler), and two All-NBA Defensive Team players.
The 2021 Mavs are woefully shy of that talent level. They have their MVP player (Luka hasnβt won yet, obviously, but he will at some point if he stays healthy) and a second All-Star in KP, but thatβs it. There is no one else on the current roster who will be an All-Star at any point in their career and, unfortunately, no one who will ever come close to being named to the All-NBA Defensive team.
Talent alone isnβt sufficient to win a championship (witness the 2012 Thunder) but it is absolutely necessary. It will take time for the Mavs to acquire that kind of talent - two to three years at least - so we all probably need to temper our expectations until they do.
Theyβre super unique in how they were constructed. Zach Lavine, Demar Derozan, and Lonzo Ball make up a three-headed monster that can defend and has offense as well. Theyβve got Nikola Vucevic (an All Star) as the man in the middle. Theyβve got impressive tough-nosed role players such as Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams (when healthy), and Derrick Jones Jr. Young guys like Ayo Dosunmo are contributing in small samples.
Their front office has built a tough minded team. Billy Donovan seems to be doing a good job getting them to play together on the court. Theyβre 9-4 and currently third in the East. Playing really fun and solid basketball. With how wide open everything is, it seems to me they have a lot of weapons on both sides of the ball and will be tough in the postseason. Three All Stars and an improving young player in Lonzo. Can they put it all together for a championship? Are they missing something? Thoughts?
When was the last time a mid-season trade significantly helped an NBA team win a championship? Correct me if im wrong... Seems like recent NBA champions didn't make any huge mid-season trades.
When we inevitably win the ship we will have bad picks, no way we get Chet or Banchero. Will this affect Green/KPJ/Sengun's window?
So letβs say somebody like Steph Curry decides to join a below-average DIII for a season, would he, or players on the same tier as him be able to carry said DIII team to an NCAA national championship?
>This team is headed straight to the 2012-2013 NBA championship! π₯π
2021-22 LA Lakers:
>LeBron James
>Anthony Davis
>Russell Westbrook
>Carmelo Anthony
>Dwight Howard
>Malik Monk
>Talen Horton-Tucker
>Rajon Rondo
>Kendrick Nunn
>Trevor Ariza
>Kent Bazemore
>Wayne Ellington
>Marc Gasol
>DeAndre Jordan
Loool George spending that retirement talking trash

This is Giannis' resume in just a 12 month span. You could ignore all the other years played and Giannis would still have the accolades of a Hall of Famer with just his performance in this time span. You could argue Giannis is more accomplished than guys like Chris Bosh, who is a Hall Of Famer, in just this 1 year time frame. That is absolutely insane.

It's hard to argue that Giannis isn't currently the best player in basketball. I get he doesn't fit the prototype the past "best players" were part of, such as clutch jumpshooting, etc. But you simply can't ignore these achievements that he has garnered in such a short amount of time. And if he's not the "best" player in your opinion, then he for sure has been the greatest player in basketball for the past couple years.

1979 Seattle Supersonics
2004 Detroit Pistons
After Ben Wallace was inducted to the Hall of Fame in September, every former Championship team has at least one member in the HOF.
You only get one choice and if you dont win the the title⦠you do life in prison. Why would you add the player as well?
When the Golden State Warriors started training camp in 2012, their roster already had the same 5 guys who, with patience and a coaching change, would go on to win the NBA Title and break the all-time regular season wins record several years later.
By the same token, the 1996/1997, the Los Angeles Lakers had Shaq, Robert Horry, Kobe and Derek Fisher. This same core of players, 3 seasons later, would win their first of 3 NBA Championships in a row and post the best playoff record of all-time in 2001.
Are there any teams that had a very talented core of players and who could have gone on to win a championship or be dominant if they had just stayed patient with their group?

Besides the Kyrie drama even if he comes back I donβt think Harden is any more than a top 20 player (if that) without getting generous calls
Sixers playoffs struggles will continue if they keep Simmons
Bulls are a nice story but we beat them in a series
Bucks are the team Iβm worried about in the East but I think we have enough now with Tucker and Bam improving to limit Giannis. We have a guy who controls the tempo in Lowry. Heβs a winner. I think we win with him this time. Close series though.
Lakers are old and Westbrook will Westbrook. Love Lebron but heβs getting up there
Nuggets are great but we beat them in a close series unless MPJ takes a leap
Jazz are a nice group of players but we beat them
Clippers have lost a lot of that umph they had
This is all just my non-analytical breakdown lol. We could very well be a 1st round exit. Iβm just hopeful. But no, I think we have all the makings to make a deep run. Pray to the basketball gods we stay healthy
I hope this question makes sense. Obviously, it is super subjective, so answer however you please.
Also, note that you could answer this question by including people who rings but not as the best player (David Robinson, Gary Payton, etc.)
