A list of puns related to "Multitrack Recording"
I fucking love tweaking with audio. The first thing I do if I get a new piece of equipment is tweak with the equalizer, adjust the sound, move around speakers in my room, adjust mics and their pop filters for vocals, being able to assign applications per input virtually is just something I didn't think was possible despite the descriptions and readings and multiple installations of voicemeeter I did over the years. Something about the interface just didn't grab me at first. Maybe that's a problem I have with all guis, the initial learning curve of not knowing where this or that is can be very daunting.
I never thought something would exist out there like this after struggling with peace APO for years. I looked up alternatives to peace apo and always landed on voicemeeter but it just never seemed intuitive at the jump. Again I think that's probably more on me than the application.
The fact that I have
- two front speakers with independent amps, that go into a mixer,
- a microphone for gaming and Discord and recording that goes into a UM2.
- Independent rear speakers with their own amp.
- two indepedent self powered 10 inch subs.
- And headphones.
And it all gets its own setup and get up. Its own unique EQ, balance, and allocation. As an audiophile, that's so important to me.
Peace APO is an amazing application with amazing support but the problems surrounding every Windows update wiping your settings it just was such a frustrating experience as well. I don't have those problems with voice meter. Peace APO I think is also handled by one developer who just updates out of the goodness of his heart. And I respect that guy very much.
This app is like a wet dream come true.
Here's a scenario. I have two pc's running side-by-side. My main PC gets input from the second PC that I watch TV on and maybe stream that TV for my Discord.
I like that audio to have zero bass typically. Because on my main PCΒ I'm probably playing a shooter game that requires very accurate sound. So maybe I want that TV show also sent directly to the right headphone only and not the speakers and not the subwoofer.
And then I have my friends talking and Discord and maybe I want those audio inputs to go to a other headphone side.
Even though I have a 12input mixer, it's Behringer so it doesn't have a bus system. Which means all audio gets tracked through either main or the FX channel with the same eq. Which means I don't get to set the tone for my subwoofer so the subwoof
... keep reading on reddit β‘Why don't they think of that? It would be a great opportunity for them to get more money through Elvis' name. And for us fans it would be another way of experiencing his music in new ways: Recording sessions/multitracks/stems are basically the seperated tracks from a song (bass, drums, guitar, vocals etc.). For example, the lead vocals (only Elvis' vocals) for In the Ghetto leaked (but only a snippet) and it's interesting and beautiful to hear the elements separately.
Does anyone know where I can find multitrack stems of any live recordings? Supposedly some exist on etree but I haven't been able to find any.
Maybe on another sub?
I recently bought a Presonus preamp with 16 channels. My goal was to be able to record my drums. I've been struggling to find a good way to record drum tracks for a couple of years now. I would most certainly use a computer with a software that is compatible with presonus but my main blocker here is that I just used up all my cash on getting this preamp.
I want each mic to go to it's own individual track, and this doesn't seem possible via Garage band. I would prefer to not buy a computer, and then another software for recording (Which is what some of my friends have recommended). Is there a way to do multitrack recording with an iPad without buying more equipment?
Hello how can i record a direct out from the avid s3l in pro tools. When import the session from the venue it shows the channel but it says that there is no option to record. Because there is no output assigned to it. How can i assign an output to it? The other channels from the stageboxes are fine and get imported without any additional routing or "direct outing".
I've been building a venue for small metal shows in the woods. It's been going well (prior to covid, that is) and I want to upgrade to a digital console for next season. I'm looking for something with 16 inputs and the ability to multitrack record the shows using a minimum of additional hardware.
I'm strongly leaning towards something that's rack mounted, like a Behringer XR18. I'm working with limited space for a "sound booth" (just a little spot in between 3 trees) and we've had issues with rain in the past, so I want something that's easy to protect from the elements. I'm also already familiar the Behringer user interface, so that's also a plus.
On the other hand, I've seen a lot of cheerleading on reddit for the newer Allen and Heaths, so the Qu-Pac or SB are also on the table if they really are that much better. I've seen blanket claims that "it just sounds better" than the Behringer products, but I'm a little skeptical. When people spend more money, they often have a personal investment in telling themselves it was worth it. If you're an A&H fan, tell me what you like about them. I've also heard mixed reviews of their UI, so feel free to comment on that, too.
I'm open to other suggestions as well. I've got extensive live sound experience and a fair amount of studio experience, so I should be able to learn how to use whatever. I don't need anything dumbed down, but ease of use is still important. The main thing is I don't want to have to hook up too many individual pieces. I'd strongly prefer an integral wireless setup. If there's a unit out there that can do multitrack recording without the need to hook up an additional laptop, that would be extra ideal.
Iβm trying to migrate the project, getting the multitrack recording out of REAPER as full length tracks instead of just the short audio files
Background: Okay, so our group has been recording a D&D Podcast since 2019. Our preferred method of recording is everyone in person at the same table, as it's the best way to capture the energy of the game. We each have individual SM58 mics going through a focusrite scarlett 18i20 (3rd Gen), and are spaced a few feet apart.
The issue: We have one cast member in particular who "records quietly". This is a weird phenomenon, as her speaking voice doesn't seem quiet when she is speaking to us, but her recorded voice after the fact is so quiet, that we need to crank her voice up. This allows for the excess background noise/other cast to bleed through on her track, making editing 90 minute episodes an exercise in frustration.
I'm looking to see if anyone has had similar issues, and if they have solid tips to mitigate this, whether it's a hardware solution, or an editing technique to help expedite the process. I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
This setting is no longer there.
It's driving me wild - I want to hook up to two external synths - one receiving on channel 5, one on channel 2. If I play one of the synths, it's sending midi to the others regardless of the fact that 'MIDI Channel' is correctly set on the external instrument.
I had a template set up for this - template now no longer works. Used to be you had to record enable each synth, select 'auto demix' in the Recording tab of project settings, and if you were lucky it worked. Now I can't find that setting and can't find any means of stopping one synth from triggering both.
Any ideas?
This problem has been adressed in many earlier questions and i never heard of a workaround for this. I don't know if we can hope for another software update from Roland, but there would be a possible solution to record master FX if we still want to work with tracks in a DAW individually:
As it its probably not easy to change up things on the block diagram there could be an option to mute the incoming signal on the master track, so the master track would be 100% wet FX only. So we could record the Master track with all the Send FX additionally, but without the original sound! The effects would be mixed on this track, but we could still apply DAW adjustments to the individual track outputs / recordings.
Until now, you can either only record the master track and don't have any chance for adjustments in your DAW or record the individual tracks without Master FX. This is not great either, because the send FX itself are very deeply integrated as you can, for example, adjust the sends for individual drum track pads.
This issue does get in the way when you actually want to create and record entire songs and performances of the MC707! All FX, besides from the MFX, are simply lost! But a recording of the master track only without DAW polishing is just not ready for immidiate release as a song.
I registered on reddit just to get this off my mind .... is there somewhere a kind of feature request page to roland?
In the past month I've tested out the Mackie 1402 VLZ4, Mackie Onyx12, Tascam Model 12 and I've returned them all. Just ordered the Korg MW-2408 a few hours ago.
I'm a bit worried that in 1-3 months a new version will come out that actually does support 16 or 24 channel multitrack recording (pre/post fader/eq/comp, USB, SD), 4+ sub groups, Bluetooth would be a nice extra. Also, inserts!
It's almost 2022, why is 'the perfect mixer' not here already? This customer doesn't mind to pay for those features. Arghh! Does anyone know if there's something upcoming? I'd love to know!
I have one question I hope someone can answer because I can't find any clues online. I'm planning to use the 8 group outputs (and other remaining outs) from the MW-2408 and plug them into my digital interface that has 16 inputs. I want 8 separate mono channels, but you can only assign tracks to stereo groups 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8.
(if it doesn't, I'll probably swap it for a Tascam Model 24 unless someone can change my mind - please do)
I haven't been out recording much lately. I'm not fully up on the latest production gear out there. I don't have MADI interfaces or anything. It looks like this AVID S6L has the ability to record up to 64 tracks over Ethernet. It works best with Pro Tools but I think it can work with other DAW. I've mostly been using Reaper. It looks like it requires Thunderbolt (Ethernet to Thunderbolt adapter) to interface with a MacBook Pro. Has to be MBP with Thunderbolt. Retina 2014 or later (I think). Has anyone done this? Thanks!
Have a 96 input show coming up that the client just asked if we could multitrack. I am still at the quote stage so I wanted to see what the best current option for recording past 64 channels is. My current best idea is to use a Yamaha Rivage, and 2 computers running dante virtual sound card to record 48 channels each. My other thought was to use DiGiCo SD10 and RME MADIface XT to a single computer, but I've never done the coax to optical conversion or used that interface before so I wasn't sure if that would work. Is there a better way to do this? Is there anything I'm missing?
Hi peeps,
I'm looking for a multitimbral synth that allows multitrack recording over USB. So far the only option I've been able to find is the Elektron Digitone. I've tried my luck googling for more options, but wasn't really successful.
Anybody got a good tip for me?
Thanks for taking the time to read my post :)
Hi everyone! Iβve purchased an MPC X, but been away from home due to other obligations lately, so havenβt been able to get my hands on it yet. Iβve been doing a lot of thinking and researching on how to best integrate it into my current setup, and what other equipment I may potentially need to be able to use them together cohesively.
I was initially thinking of using the MPC as a sampler and master sequencer for my two/three hardware synths and drum machine. Iβve read a variety of reviews on the MPCβs multitrack recording capabilities, and some say it can only record up to 5 minutes, while others cite some latency issues, etc..
My question is, for those of you with experience doing similar things with the MPC X: is it better to use the MPC for dedicated sampling/ sequencing/ clock control, and purchasing a dedicated hardware mixer and multitrack recorder for those purposes? Or have there been updates that have addressed the criticisms for multitrack recording and mixing standalone on the MPC?
Hey everyone,
I've got the Rodecaster Pro and I have a very strange issue with it. I know there are a lot of threads about the hardware but none of it exactly was about my problem. I've also contacted the Rode support but got no answer from them.
The setup:
I'm using it to record multitrack podcasts, mostly with 2 microphones in the same room. Recording happens via USB on my Windows 10 PC. DAW used is Hindenburg Pro. Microphones used are two dynamic Shure MV7, connected via XLR.
The settings:
Recording channels on the Rodecaster are 1 + 2. On both channels activated are: High pass filter, De-esser, Compressor as well as the Aphex effects. In "Multitrack options" Post Fader is activated, Bypass Audio Processing is deactivated. In "Processing" USB mix-minus, Ducking and TRRS are all deactivated. Mic levels are set around 22/23 (both mics are boosted with a Fethead, as Shure mics are gain hungry).
The issue:
My problem is that apparently only one of the two mic channels is ever processed by the Rodecaster (including the on-board effects) and the other is not. It almost sounds like one mic is only picking up the noise bleed from the other. The recording is quiet, scratchy, the de-esser doesn't pick up, nor do the Aphex effects. And that changes, sometimes it's Channel 1, sometimes it's 2, quite randomly. When only one microphone is connected (I record solo with a Shure SM7B) the problem does not occur. Only when multiple channels are used.
Examples:
I have two test recordings from the last days for you (spoken in German, sorry ;)). Manual post-production was NOT done. The tracks come directly from the Rodecaster. Exactly the same options were set on both channels.
Download Channel1: This is myself. Effect processing didnβt work, no Aphex exciter, no big bottom, very flat, βSβ noises are clearly spiking
Download Channel2: This my co-host. The effect processing worked, added bass, exciter and big bottom and especially the De-esser is working well
I think you can hear the difference. I have no idea what the reason is. I have turned all effects off and on again, tried different channels. It always happens when the Rodecaster has to handle more than 1 mic.
Maybe someone has an idea or had the same problem. I am grateful for any help!
I was trying to record the individual channels on Cubase over USB. I install the driver, then on Cubase I create 9 channels, one for the master and the other 8 for the individual channels (in stereo). Everything works fine and all the channels are recorded separately BUT with NO EFFECTS. So if in one of the channels there was reverb or delay or resonance etc. coming from the MC707, the recording does not have it. If while recording I introduce any effect, it isnβt recorded. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a way to fix it? Thank you
So I'm in the market to replace my Original iPad Air w 16 GB, and currently weighing my options between the Air 4, and the Pro models.
One potential use-case that *might* influence that decision, is multitrack capabilities. I know one should never buy a product based on future possibilities (not even future promises at this point), but I can't help thinking what an incredible mobile multi tracking machine an iPad Pro with 0.5-2TB, 8-16GB RAM, and a Thunderbolt port could potentially be...
Anyhoo, I'm trying to research all the multi tracking apps available for iPad currently, and they seem a bit wanting. The use-case for me would be pretty much solely multi tracking live concerts - meaning a track count of 24 simultaneous tracks is the bare minimum, and I don't need any mixing bells and whistles, no MIDI or VSTs, etc. Just writing down raw PCM data - and being able to play it back for virtual-soundcheck would be nice too. It would also be super convenient to not have it create a weird/proprietary project file or something - rather, just simple WAV files (or one giant multitrack WAV file, which isn't super uncommon either). It would most typically fed by a mixing console with a USB Class-Compliant interface (e.g, X/M32) - though it sure would be nifty if there were a way to get a Dante interface connected, like a Dante PCIe card in a Thunderbolt enclosure that would do way more channels (though there's no way in hell something like that would be supported anytime soon, if ever).
The only two options I'm coming across so far are Cubasis 3, which ought to do this, although with a 24-track simultaneous maximum (if I'm understanding correctly). I've also come across nTrack, which appears to do up to at least 32, per a YouTube video I found, but it also appears that using higher track counts requires a subscription tier version of the app.
Are there any other options that I've missed?
Anything that's a one-time payment app that will do up to 32, if not maybe even 48 tracks?
Any reason to believe iPads will support any audio interfaces other than USB Class-Compliant ones? Conversely, anybody working on a Dante->USB interface that's Class compliant? (I know there's an RME Digiface Dante, but it appears to not be class-compliant).
I feel like this should work but I can't find any info on the subject.
If I put two different tracks into record and each has an articulation set associated with it, no matter which articulation I select from the options, the non primary track just ends up using the first articulation in the list rather than the one I had set it to.
This seems like it should be an easy thing to do which makes me think I'm missing something obvious.
hey fam' I did a french (with uk caps) tuto bout how to record multitrack (audio) in sync (midi) on the MPC 2.10 (and a Tascam model12).

Iβm running a 32 track recording from my Allen+Heath SQ-5 into a Mac running Adobe audition. Iβm wondering if I can run the recording back through the board with each individual fader controlling the same track as when recording as it goes to our mains. Essentially Iβm wondering if I can do EQ on the board and have it translate back to the software. Thanks for any help you can offer
I'm trying to investigate the feasibility of using an iPad for multi tracking live shows, and so far it's not looking great - even though, frustratingly, there's no reason why this shouldn't be something any iPad should have an easy time with.
This would be explicitly tracking live shows, most likely fed by a console - let's assume something like a USB Class-Compliant interface like that on an X/M32. The only things it would need to do is record as many audio inputs as possible simultaneously, and ideally be able to play them back on their corresponding outputs, a la virtual soundcheck. Any other capability - particularly MIDI, VSTs, even sophisticated editing capabilities - would be worse than useless, and just get in the way.
Think something like Tracks Live from Waves for macOS, but for the iPad. Record, Play, Export WAVs, and as little else as possible. For oodles of inputs.
The other big thing that would be mucho appreciated is a smooth export process, which for whatever reason, is something else all these iPad DAWs seem to be sorely lacking. Just simple discrete WAV files on a per-track basis that can be beamed over to a proper desktop/laptop via direct USB connection, or at least something like AirDrop. None of these wacky file formats, project files, cloud-only sharing, etc.
After hours and hours of research, it seems that there is nothing particularly close. Cubasis 3 and Auria seem to be at least capable of recording 24 inputs simultaneously, though I'd like to have the capability of doing 32 or more. I *think* apps like Audio Evolution and/or nTrack may be able to do more than 24 inputs, but at least with nTrack it appears that the export process is super convoluted, and either involves exporting each track one-by-one, or exporting a proprietary project file that then has to be opened by a corresponding nTrack app on a desktop.... exactly the kind of thing I'd love to avoid.
I know everybody's just going to reply with "dude, just get a laptop." I know, I know, I get it. But strictly tracking audio is extremely easy for modern computers, and there's zero reason why an iPad shouldn't extremely competent at it - so I feel like I must be missing something!
I was as shocked and disappointed by WWDC 2021 in lieu of the new M1 iPad Pros as everyone else, but I feel like there *has* to be a lot more coming - if for no other reason than the higher storage models come with *16GB* of RAM. iPadOS doesn't even currently support that!
