A list of puns related to "Mulesing"
So it being black friday, I'm trying to find some slip-on shoes I can wear without socks form an ethical company. Previously, I'd only really checked if the shoes were made out of leather or fur, and thought wool was fine. It's just like getting a haircut, right? They don't take the skin off of the sheep, right? Wrong, apparently. No, shearing a sheep generally doesn't hurt it, but the sheep industry does skin their sheep alive a few weeks after birth. It's called "Mulesing," and it's to prevent flystrike, a condition where flies lay their eggs on the sheep, and then the fly larvae hatch and start eating the sheep alive, which eventually causes infection and the sheep to die. So instead, farmers literally just cut off some of the skin around the sheep's butt so scar tissue forms and feces/urine can't get caught in it. They argue it's better than a sheep dying from flystrike (probably true), but holy shit, that's fucked up.
If they can, they can just treat fly infections with penicillin, right?
why not just shave their sheep?
I was recently digging through some drawers at my grandparents house and found some old tweed and an unused tapestry kit, both of which use wool. If I were to make and wear something using the tweed or do the tapestry, would that be considered vegan? Iβm not fuelling the market for wool am I? I know the other option would be to give it away but I donβt really want to do that because it was my great grandmothers
Hello everybody this is my first post here so have mercy :). This list is a work in progress so you might want to follow the post if you are interested in future additions. I will add to this list as I go because I bought lots of stuff over the years and it will take some time to find all that stuff. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask in the comments and I will try to answer them. I won't add prices as they are subject to change but you can use the links and see for yourself (don't worry those are not affiliate links). I will add weights and pictures when I get the time but for now you will have to trust the manufacturers specs :P
most of the links are to the US store but since the search bar is cr*p I will add some links to the german store. You might be able to find them in your country as well! I will mark them with Ger in front of the link.
Also some quick tips for those unfamiliar with decathlon:
Check the sale section on your countrys online store regularly. as you will see below I bought a lot of the stuff I own on sale.
If you have a store near you you can have your online purchases sent there for free. I like to do this with clothing because I can immedeatly return it if something doesn't fit.
The return policy is pretty amazing, even better when you get a free membercard (I think 90 days returns no questions asked). They have yet to decline a return for me.
The product name has some information: Trek100 for example is a trekking product for beginners. The higher the number the more technical the product gets.
Also they have their own brand names for certain sports like quechua for hiking btwin for cycling etc. Do look around in other categories, I really like the running stuff for hiking.
Here is a spreadsheet of all their available rainjackets by u/Mr-Fight
And this youtube playlist by Justin Oudoors includes some great recommendations as well.
All right here we go!

... keep reading on reddit β‘In the past few months seems like everywhere I turn on IG, indie yarn dyers are all
Some have explained their own business reasoning but I was curious if anyone knows the reason for the overarching trend: shortages due to the pandemic, new marketing angle, growing awareness of environmental impacts, changes at the supply chain or milling level?
Will this change your own yarn-buying habits?
snark// I haaaaate the rustic/natural/organic marketing buzzwords, it feels very wellness-adjacent which puts my teeth on edge lol

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So far nobody has given me a straight answer
I am currently in the hospital. I had a back operation yesterday. The surgical nurse came in my room and started asking questions about my back. She asked me if I had any falls during the last year. I responded just one. It was after summer.
She laughed and said in 20 years of doing this she never was told that joke.
