Microdistrict Puns

Not an urban planner. During the pandemic I started spending a lot more time at home, so became interested in what makes a better place to live.

I live in London, but recently I spent some time working remotely from my post-Soviet home country, and I realised something. Soviet urban planning, for all its depressing optics when viewed from above and outside, is actually... nice to live in. And I think this is the urban design that can make the future more palatable.

If we are looking at a future where we will need to:

• Work from home a lot more - so we will need bigger properties
• Drive less, cycle more, take public transport
• Live in more energy efficient homes, but still have to air-condition them
• Generally spend more time closer to where we live

I think that soviet urban design actually was already very good. It is self-contained, high-density neighbourhoods, with flats that can be made energy efficient.

A few personal observations I had:

• When walking down the street, there are trees and vegetation at ground level *everywhere*. My attention wasn't drawn to the ugly Soviet blocks.
• There are parks between buildings, unless they have been repurposed as parking lots..
• Everything I could need - *a lot* of shops, cafes, other small businesses conveniently located around. Having high density of consumers allows that, rather than concentrating all the shops in a mall or at a high street.
• As a result of the above, there are people walking around at all times - it feels alive.
• Every evening, there was a group of children playing in front of the building - to me, that was a good sign.
• Getting public transport was easy - there was a bus stop within 200 meters of the entrance to the building.
• The building was recently insulated, which made it surprisingly energy efficient- despite the 38*C summer heat dome and the sun shining directly on the building, it never got beyond 30 degrees inside. It had deep balconies to protect from the sun.
• Ceilings were 2.6m tall, taller than new "luxury" apartments in London.
• While the flat wasn't particularly expensive, it was still better proportioned than most flats I have seen in the UK, with very little space lost.

I present to you Project Trnsko (or Tronsk, which sounds better), with enough housing for 4627 workers and every building has bus stop access. Additionally, there's enough open space to expand.

In Krasnodar on February 10, two guys in the early morning at about 5:20 in the Festivalnoye microdistrict stole a VAZ-2107 and burned it in a nearby yard. The car was equipped with a gas cylinder, which miraculously did not explode in a fire. A burnt-out passenger car cannot be restored.

In a cozy beautiful both inside and outside the house, standing on the edge of the forest morning came. The Windows were open and the whole house was filled with life-giving coolness. The happy family woke up not from the sounds of cars, trains and planes, as it was when they lived in the city, but from the singing of birds and the fresh invigorating air of their house in the Eco-cluster.
Wife has prepared Breakfast and all with appetite ate. Products were bought right there in the residential district. All the necessities of life in an Eco cluster is and producers sell food for tokens ECOEC.

After eating, the boys ran to swim in the river. Mother and daughter went into the forest to pick berries. Dad decided to plan a family vacation.

Two years ago, their friends bought ECOEC tokens of the First ECO-cluster project at the ICO. Leaving an application on the ECONEUARK platform for a land plot in their city, they get it in a year from the project for tokens with a savings of 3 times! The infrastructure of the village is built. The project started building houses on the 3D printer. The family bought a ready-made house “turnkey” with interest-free installments from the project for five years. I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.

So I talked to a Russian before and he said he went to school number 150(ish). He said that before schools were numberd and dident have names. Was it just schools that were numberd? Or was other things also numberd? My Google skills failed me this time so I turn to you guys.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

In this project I tried to mix a wider variety of buildings with different architectural styes with different densities, while also trying to make it not look exaggerated. I think the end result is nice, but I'll leave that judgement to you.

Bigger than my previous microrayon, project Mag houses about 10,500 workers and boasts a big football stadium.
