A list of puns related to "Metcalfe"
Taking it this semester and am vERY nervous because of all the horror stories I've heard (about the class itself, not Jason). Does anyone have any tips that helped them get through, what to expect/how best to prepare for tests, really anything that will let me know it will be okay? I'm planning on doing all the problems in the book that I can for the assigned chapters and memorizing theorems/definitions, but is there anything that worked well for you? Does basically no one get a good grade or is there a curve?
I know things can get rough downtown but this is the first time I've ever been attacked by a stranger. I was walking down Metcalfe towards the Farm Boy at about 6pm yesterday - still light outside. I was on the phone with my mom and I hear some yelling behind me - so I look back, and there's this guy I've never seen before walking down the block after me, yelling at me. He sees me look back, calls me a "fucking bitch", and breaks into a run towards me. I try to cross the street, and he follows me, and he's outright chasing me, trying to grab me and yelling that he's "going to get me" and spits at me.
I run towards the Pi Co and get a tall male delivery guy coming out in between the guy and me, and that slows down the guy (he didn't want to attack him, only me it seems). He doesn't follow me into Pi Co, but instead stands staring at me outside the door and in through the windows, waiting for me to leave.
I called the cops and gave a description while the guy was staring in at me with a huge grin on his face. After about 5 minutes he walks back off up Metcalfe, and then a bit later the cops drive up looking for him. They don't find him but they take my statement. WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY
He was a white male, not very tall (5'7 or '8 ish?) with thin straight brown facial hair and light blue eyes. Black hat, black hoodie, jeans, workboots, grey / blue backpack and a big red Value Village tote bag. Looked a bit scruffy but not outright homeless.
EDIT: Thank you for all the kind words. It seems like this guy has attacked other people downtown before!
Another one bites the dust. There's nothing left but a handwritten sign advising people to go to the Place de Ville shoe repair.
It often stuck me as an odd place to find an independent shoe repair business. But they did such excellent work. I never would have thought it was possible to patch up old sneakers β and so inexpensively! β if not for them.
Metcalfe's does not have it and I can't find any other place that does
any ideas?
Background:
Brent Metcalfe worked as a security guard for the church in SLC in the late 1970s and early 80s. He was an amatuer historian at the time just trying to figure things out. At one point he was hired by Mark Hoffman to do research. After that all exploded, he continued to study and write. In 1993 he published New Approaches to the Book of Mormon: Explorations in Critical Methodology. This led to his excommunication. Recently he gave an interview on the Drunk Mormon podcast, episode 101 available on Spotify. Below is a transcript starting at about 109 minutes. It is close, but not perfect. Refer to the audio unless you are a lazy learner like me.
Metcalfe:
>One of the nights, I was called to pick up Elder Mark E. Peterson from the airport. And so I didβ¦ and on the way home from the airport he was actually one of the most cordial General Authorities and members of the 12 I had ever had any personal interaction with (which kind of surprised me), he was very talkative and we were talking back and forth (Boyd K. Packer by the way was just the opposite)β¦ So weβre driving him home and I thought, βOh, Iβm just going to go there, Iβm going to say, βyou know, Iβm wondering what you would think about this idea. A friend of mine, whoβs an LDS apologist has written this pamphlet which talks about the Adam God theory, which
Host:
>Lynn doesnβt know about this, so weβll have to teach her about this another time, but basically it was a controversial doctrine taught by Brigham Young.
Metcalfe: >So weβre driving along and I tell him this β heβs an LDS apologist and heβs written this pamphlet and the pamphlet takes this position that the Adam-God theory is false, but yes, Brigham Young taught it, but heβs still a true prophet. Right? And before I could even get the words out β Mark E. Peterson, unlike others who would usually sit in the back when I would drive them home from the airport, was sitting right next to me in the passengerβs seat. He was already shaking his head. And he said, βNo. No. We can never admit this. If we do, we will have members becoming fundamentalists; theyβll be leaving the church; we can never, ever admit this.β And I was just like so taken aback, because he was basically acknowledging, yes β he taught this, but no β we can never admit to it, because this would be a travesty for so many peopleβs faith, and we cannot be responsible for that. And of course, any historian whoβs worth their salt
... keep reading on reddit β‘Pi will be worth a ton of money due to one simple thing, Metcalfeβs law.
Metcalfe's law states that the value of a network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system (n2). First formulated in this form by George Gilder in 1993,[1] and attributed to Robert Metcalfe in regard to Ethernet, Metcalfe's law was originally presented, c. 1980, not in terms of users, but rather of "compatible communicating devices" (e.g., fax machines, telephones).[2] Only later with the globalization of the Internet did this law carry over to users and networks as its original intent was to describe Ethernet connections.[3]
The pi network has over 20M active users. If pi was a country it would rank 58 out of the 235 recognized nations. There is a massive amount of people that have a vested interest in this project success and it will be mind blowing.

OriginTrail is bringing blockchain to the $64 trillion supply chain industry
Lots of catalysts & hammers on the horizon for Trac Very few crypto projects have the utility Origin Trail Trac has & Metcalfes law says we will exponentially grow from here. Supply chain issues are a critical part to the economy working TRAC is leader in web 3.0 supply chains. TRAC has 16k thousand Ethereum on their balance sheets. The total size of the TRAC treasury therefore stands at 16,480 ETH They are well funded project. The real money is made holding solid projects. This is like buying prime digital real estate. Bob Metcalfe could be spending his time and energy working with any project and he choose TRAC!!!
Please check the underside of your cars if you were driving on Metcalfe St and Frank St on or before Thursday September 16th.
I was driving our Hyundai Elantra Thursday morning around 9:50am and hit a service pipe sticking too far out of the ground. It caused extensive damage and our car is now totalled. We are lucky to get away with mild whiplash and a nearly missed ruptured gas tank. A bystander said they heard multiple cars scrape the raised pipe before ours. It should be noted that this section of Metcalfe is being prepared for paving and was down to one lane at the time. All traffic was funnelled through this section of road that had many protrusions of sewer and service pipes. Unfortunately my car must have been lower than the vehicles that passed before us.
Going through the stages now to try and get accountability from the city and/or contractor responsible for maintaining safe driving conditions on the roads.
Thanks all, stay safe!
