A list of puns related to "Magistracy"
I havenβt had mech luck finding hex, RGB, or name for the shade of green and blue MoC uses for itβs crest. Is the info out there and I missed it, or anyone know a Vallejo or other brand that has a shade close to it?
Uh, given that it is already the second week of august, does anyone know when, specifically, it will unlock? Like, today or Friday or whatever?
Also, fun fact: The Evenlode is a river and a village in England. I thought it was a made up thing for the game, like it was a title or an order or a neathy place or something, but nope. It's a real town and a real river in England, sort of located between Cornwall and Wales. The river serves as a tributary of the Thames, which presumably serves to explain why the devil it's down in the neath. As for the town, it's got this monument pillar that serves as a sort of Four Corners thing, but for half a dozen civil parishes in England. Just something I learned today.
So is that right? That only resident citizens of the city of Rome could actually vote in the Assemblies and for the annual magistracies like the Consul/Quaestor and such?
Letβs say that Iβm a 3rd generation Italian Roman citizen in Iberia in say 100 BC and my career takes me to move to Rome. Will I be able to start voting? For that matter, how do people legally vote and prove their citizenship? How do the authorities a citizen from a non-citizen?
That's it. I guess. See the new content for yourself.
Is there any lore on the in-game designation of Draconis Combine and Magistracy of Canopus as enemies, faction-relations wise? They're about as far from each other as it can get in the IS, so hardly any direct conflict. Moreover, I'd say that Kuritan diplomacy is aimed at being friends (well, non-enemies) with any potential allies on the opposite sides of Steiner and Davion space (enemy of my enemy, etc.); on the other hand, Canopians appear to have tensions and low-key conflicts with all their potential partners in this area (FWL, Capellan Confederation, even Taurian Concordat), so maybe their 'rivalry' naturally grows out of that.
So I bought into the Clan Invasion Kickstarter, which is cool and all, but as a RiStar am only going to be getting:
Wolverine
Griffin
Urbanmech (hurrah!)
2 Random Omnimechs
1 Random 'Legendary Warrior' mech
ANYWAY the point of this is that I want to use this as a springboard into 3025 Periphery gaming, and want to get myself a company or so of Magistracy, Taurian, and some other forces to play around with.
This is what I have come up with for a 'generic' MAF unit:
MAD-3R
SHD-2H
SHD-2H
PHX-1
PHX-1
STG-3R
WSP-1A
WSP-1A
STG-3R
WSP-1A
LCT-1V
LCT-1V
That's a Battle, Strike, and Recon Lance. 1 Heavy, 4 Medium, 7 Light. I tried to stick to 'mechs manufactured by Magistracy Metals and Manufacturing with a few (Marauder and Shadow Hawks) that are reasonably common machines.
What do people think? Plausible?
Asked this in battletechgame twice, but no responders so figured I would try my luck here.
The new game has a character selection that fits certain skill proficiencies to character backgrounds depending on which part of the 'verse they are from.
Most of the description more or less align with sarna's desciption on the major factions.
Canopian Magistracy one stood out to me because I couldn't find anything relevant on the sarna page - game claims they are best at tactics (pilots from there get +1 tactics skill as result) edit: (mixed this up with later screen. text description says they are good at tactics but there is no in game bonuses for background selections, just the follow up choices. Though that just makes it stranger as to why they would put that text in for a faction that seems like it has least noteworthy military accomplishments in the lore)
So curious if this was a reference to some plot point in lore of BattleTech - any part of their military history where they stood out as great tacticians?
After joining Lady Arano will it hurt me to take contracts against her backer any more than normal?
I backed at the Star Captain Level and am trying to choose my add ones. I donβt know a whole lot about the clan invasion lore. So I picked ghost bear more from fan effort to get their mechs included in the Kickstarter and I picked Magistracy of Canopus mostly at random but also because of my experience with them in the battletech computer game.
Anyway I already own the beginner box and the Game of Armored Combat box. So what are the best packs to choose for my 2 bonus packs as part of my pledge and are there any other I should add in on top?
So I finally got around to ordered the Armoured Combat boxed set and I was doing some research into the various Inner Sphere cultures (when I played Battletech a decade ago, I was a staunch clanner) but the video game and re-reading the books has made me really enjoy some of the cool things that pre-invasion Inner Sphere had to offer.
One thing that really appealed to me was the periphery nations, frontiersmen and people trying to escape the constant cycle of war that was the Inner Sphere royalty. I kind of liked that few people played them and they were kind of 'out there' faction choices. I also really liked the culture of individual freedom and the somewhat reversed situation of gender-inequality in the Magistracy of Canopus. But even so, when it was time to kick the Smoke Jaguars in the teeth, the tiny nation still sent the 1st Canopian Cuirassiers as part of Operation Bulldog and their commander, Danai Centrella, heir-apparent to the Magistracy fought in the Great Refusal.
So I'm thinking I'm going to paint my Armoured Combat mechs as either the 1st or 2nd Canopian Cuirassiers and my 3d-printed Alpha Strike minis as my personal favorite 2nd Canopian Light Horse.
My question to this august body of Battletech Loremasters, outside of the non-canon German book Gier (which I am going to get anyway), are there any books where the Magistracy features heavily as characters or locations?
Thanks in advance!
TL;DR: Are there any books that feature the Magistracy of Canopus as a main location or with Magistracy characters as principle characters?
The Magistracy of Canopus- long known for the hedonism, the MAF has traditionally focused on having a smaller but elite force, and often has been similar to the Capellan Confederacy in terms of favoring stealth. Significant Canopian designs have included the Ebony, the Penthesilea, and the Danai. What ideas do you have?
At least where flair is concerned in this subreddit. I mean, I get that most of the logos were taken from MWO, but still! Canopus even has a stake in this game's story!
