A list of puns related to "Luddites"
Hello everyone. I'm the Founder of Primal. Our organization aims to be the legal branch of Ted Kaczynski's vision, the first step towards the anti-tech revolution. We aim to be active in multiple spheres of society, from irl activism such as putting up flyers, posters and banners, to starting blogs and a website. We plan to make a site that leaks dangerous technologies being created, and we also plan to branch into student organizations. Our more loftier goals include setting up an educational program for those aspiring to live more primitive lives, and we also plan to set up anti-tech communities across the world.
We are very early on in our movement, so we'd appreciate any and all support to help us grow. For example, we have just finished our third official flyer. We would love as well for anyone here to join as a member too.

It took an unqualified worker a whole year wage to buy a low-quality bicycle in 1917. Now ? Roughly three hours.
The availability of almost everything a person could want or need has been
going rapidly upwards for 200 years and erratically upwards for 10,000
years before that: years of lifespan, mouthfuls of clean water, lungfuls
of clean air, hours of privacy, means of travelling faster than you can
run, ways of communicating farther than you can shout.
Even allowing for the hundreds of millions who still live in abject poverty,
disease and want, this generation of human beings has access to more
calories, watts, lumen-hours, square feet, gigabytes, megahertz,
light-years, nanometres, bushels per acre, miles per gallon, food miles,
air miles, and of course dollars than any that went before.
They have more Velcro, vaccines, vitamins, shoes, singers, soap operas,
mango slicers, sexual partners, tennis rackets, guided missiles and
anything else they could even imagine needing. By one estimate, the
number of different products that you can buy in New York or London tops
ten billion. This should not need saying, but it does. There are people
today who think life was better in the past.
They argue that there was not only a simplicity, tranquillity, sociability
and spirituality about life in the distant past that has been lost, but a
virtue too. This rose-tinted nostalgia, please note, is generally
confined to the wealthy. It is easier to wax elegiac for the life of a
peasant when you do not have to use a long-drop toilet. Imagine that it
is 1800, somewhere in Western Europe or eastern North America.
The family is gathering around the hearth in the simple timber-framed
house. Father reads aloud from the Bible while mother prepares to dish
out a stew of beef and onions. The baby boy is being comforted by one of
his sisters and the eldest lad is pouring water from a pitcher into the
earthenware mugs on the table. His elder sister is feeding the horse in
the stable. Outside there is no noise of traffic, there are no drug
dealers and neither dioxins nor radioactive fall-out have been found in
the cowβs milk.
Oh please! Though this is one of the better-off families in the village, fatherβs Scripture reading is interrupted by a bronchitic cough that presages the pneumonia that will kill him at 53 β not helped by the wood smoke of the fire. (He is lucky: life expectancy even in England was less than 40 in
... keep reading on reddit β‘tl;dr: Iβm ancient and donβt know which game and what console I should get. Help?
For the first time since forever, I have considerable amounts of free time and nothing to do because of COVID. Iβve read the books and enjoyed the series and now I want to try the games. But the last computer games I remember playing were the original Baldurβs gate and Morrowind. Iβm that ancient.
Iβve got a 2016 MacBook Air and my shared house has a large tv that we just bought this summer. The MacBook probably wonβt run the games well, I donβt want to start building a gaming PC and I wouldnβt have the space for one anyway, so I thought Iβd buy a second hand console to use with the tv. I havenβt played in ages, so I donβt want to invest a lot in case I donβt enjoy it.
So, help? What game should I start with and which console should I get? Is second hand a bad idea or should I try to score some Black Friday deal? Is getting a console a good idea at all or should I reconsider the PC?
I care about story and immersion. If The Witcher games are fun, I might want to buy some other games in the future. Idk whatβs even out there today, but epic fantasy, strategy and anything that teaches a real-life applicable skill would be my jam. Would be a plus if some other great games like that were available for the same console too.
Edit: Thanks for the advice everyone! The internet hive mind came through again. But seriously, youβre brilliant and now I know what to shop. βΊοΈ
I was listening to a tankie podcast (a mistake, I know, but they have what seems like a decent analysis of Marx) when they said, "We're not syndicalists"... in reference to the Luddites breaking machinery. They went on to ramble about how you have to deal with the material reality that machines exist and you can't get rid of them, all while referring to "syndicalism" as if it stands in opposition to that idea. You know, because I guess sabotaging machinery while fighting capitalism means you don't believe machinery should exist at all.
God, tankies are stupid.
I hate modern technology. Feels like every attempt to try something it ends up in frustration.
I have a VERY basic request.
I have a Fuji X100T that I want to take pictures and transfer to my Samsung Galaxy S7.
That's it. I just want the X100T photos to wireless show up on my phone. Nothing more.
Both are older tech from the same vintage so this handshake should be easy?
I've tried everything.
EDIT: This is what happens...
I broadcast my WIFI signal through my camera.
On my phone, I will connect to: FUJIFILM-X100T-41D as my current network
Camera says: START UP FUJIFLM APP FOR DIGITAL CAMERA AND SELECT THE FUNCTION
>>>>This is where it never connects
Fuji App on phone always says "Connecting please wait..."
And then "Failed to Connect."
It only fails on the app portion.
The cypher warband has a passive that adds -25% research speed and -50% justify wargoal time.
And in the description it says that destroying nations more advanced than you will give a variety of bonuses.
But In my game I dont seem to have gained nothing(I just annexed the last lodge, so maybe if I annex someone more technological i get more).
What are exactly those bonuses?
I only ask because some sources (such as this) claim that the original luddites didn't destroy machinery out of opposition to technology but instead due to poor working conditions. But I've seen other sources say otherwise.
Ty for any answers.
As the title says.
What happened to internationalism? Why would anyone want to support a state that literally takes away internet from you. Like yeah there's intranet, but that's like incomparable to the real deal. And yeah the ML's from like r/genzedong r/AsianSocialists r/InformedTankie will write long paragraphs how North Korea is alright, how its all western propaganda. Alright, even if everything is western propaganda, why is it that Internet is not something an average joe can get? How the hell does that help achieve socialism. Instead of breaking the chains, you wrap around them on your neck.
You know Vietnam is alright in this instance, Laos probably too. I know Cuba has some limitations but still they have internet. China's restrictions can be passed with a VPN. But North Korea, is literally a prison when it comes to internet freedom.
After the cash register incident in the shop the other day, I am now a luddite. I will still be posting on this forum and you can still contact me by phone I guess because apparently you need phones in this modern age, but any other new and unnecessary technologies like microwaves, ovens, typewriters, air conditioning, tvs and lamps I will be abstaining from. I will be cooking all food using tin foil solar ovens and riding my bike to get around town. Receipts at the store will be handwritten and CCTV will be disabled. Also I will only be using candleabras and kerosene lamps, but I think it's going to be cool and atmospheric! Well okay maybe I'll still use microphones and cameras, how else am I supposed to podcast and make short films you know? Thanks for understanding everyone!
this is the name of a book in the sketch. An anagram?
Hi, hopefully I'm in the right place to ask this. If not, sorry!, and if you point me in the right direction I'll ask there. But basically, it's the title. I got this USB number pad from the thrift store for $3 so if it's not going to work no big deal.
Since the computer can see some input when I hit various keys on it, I was hoping there was some way to "train" it to recognize specific keypresses as specific inputs - if that makes sense.
As far as I can tell, there is no numlock key on my computer. OS is el Capitan.
Thanks for any help!
Like the title says. I loathe this bot. Not for what it represents. For being a nightmare of coding to engage with past the most absolutely surface levels.
Call me old fashioned but when I run games I prefer to let r20 keep hp records, or track it all myself then force players to ender code command strings. Then as a player, who cannot make heads or tails out of even the most basic guide? It's awful. I can't even get it to pull up action surge
Nothing works unless you paid for it on beyond or want to spend an hour of your life coding to make the bot somewhat emulate your thing.
Now, again it's important to know that my annoyance comes from a place of ignorance and ineptitude. I dislike avrae because anything more then joining initiative, knowing how to roll with advantage, add bless or select a target instantly crosses a line into "way too much work"
Seems like only yesterday I was browsing ScA looking for an acne routine - now I'm older and looking for a wrinkle/fine lines/large pores/dark spots/melasma product. But, I don't know that I care enough to have a bathroom full of bottles, and I have bills to pay so boutique prices for three bottles is out of the question. Does anyone know of a serum with all three ingredients? Preferably available via drug store? I would settle for two of the three if it were otherwise excellent, or a boutique source if it had all three.
Was hoping for something to use at night for my otherwise combination skin. (I will be speaking to my doctor about getting Tretinoin and starting that once a week or so.)
(Apologies if this has already been answered - I did check the sidebar and searched but didn't find what I was looking for.)
