A list of puns related to "Log Cabin Republicans"
Apparently there is a values split in the Texas GOP:
> On Saturday, the Texas Republican Party rejected the Texas Log Cabin Republicans, the state chapter of the Republican Partyβs largest LGBT organization, from recognition as an official state party affiliate and denied the group a booth at the Texas state GOP convention. > > Republican state Sen. Bob Hall, 77, said LGBT groups promoted βunnatural sex,β according to the Fort-Worth Star Telegram, while 69-year-old GOP activist Steven Hotze charged gay people with encouraging βimmoral and perverted sexual proclivitiesβ in emails opposing the Texas Log Cabin Republicansβ recognition by the state party. > > βThe [Log Cabin Republicans] is a front group for the LGBTQ,β Hotze wrote, which he claims seeks to βforce businesses, churches, schools, governments, and individuals to accept, affirm, and celebrate those who promote and participate in perverted sexual activities.β > > The Log Cabin Republicans has in fact called on the courts to respect the rights of religious bakers who refuse to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding.
That's only part of the story however.
> "If we really believe (and we should) that every citizen is endowed by their creator with the right to pursue happiness, shouldnβt this include the right to marriage?" - Ken Mehlman 2004 Bush Campaign Manager
You can see why the GOP might not want a group that is in favor of civil rights and gay marriage. Is there a true middle ground, and not just some other odious compromise?

Are Log Cabin Republicans welcome in any shape or form in the general LGBTQ+ community?
As President of the Log Cabin Republicans β the nationβs premier organization representing LGBT conservatives and allies β Iβm at the forefront of igniting change within the Republican Party. I successfully helped to rally conservative support for marriage equality in New York, where it passed a Republican-controlled legislature. I spearheaded the submission of an amicus brief to the 2015 Supreme Court case, Obergefell v. Hodges, which was cited in Justice Kennedyβs majority opinion. Iβm also President of the Liberty Education Forum, a non-partisan think tank that advocates LGBT acceptance among conservatives and people of faith. I was an Alternate Delegate for Newt Gingrich in the 2012 election and have been featured in numerous media outlets, including Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, and more. @gregorytangelo / @LogCabinGOP / http://www.logcabin.org
