Which is better, a limited slip or an open diff? If limited slip is the better option, then why do some of the cars come with open diff instead? Also, if you have traction control, how does that work with an open differential?
Iβm in the market for a 2022 g70! Am I right in saying that only the βSport Prestigeβ and higher trims get a LSD? Or do lower trims get one too?
Hi E36 Redditors,
I am thinking about getting Clutch plates for e36 Limited Slip Differentials (188 Diff Size) remade and wanted to run an Interest Check, to see if we could organize a group buy to meet MOQ.
As far as i can see in europe, LSD clutches and friction plates are getting rare and expensive, but in fact are a pretty simple mechanical part used by ZF since around 1960s. With enough quantity the could be easily remanufactured, and i managed to gather all the information required to have them remade, even did first tests with the molybdenum coating comparing them to the genuine ZF discs, and they held up just as good.
The price will be around 50β¬ for Inner discs (molybdenum coated) and around 25β¬ for outer discs (uncoated steel). International tracked shipping would be around 6β¬.
I rebuild BMW limited slip differentials in Germany as a part time job, ran a 2500$ groupbuy for r/mk few months ago and i am serious about this groupbuy. Just let me know if you are interested in participating or can tell me more about the spare parts supply for bmw LSDs around the world. As far is i could find out, the clutches became very expensive in many other countries aswell. The LSD clutches should be changed over time which everyone can do by themself, no special tools requiered.

Spouse and I need a new freeway/mountain cruiser car, and the G70 seems fun. And all wheel drive.
But I also like a limited-slip differential, so:
When building a G70 at genesis.com, if you pick AWD, then pick 3.3T, then choose Packages, it defaults to "Package & Interior" / "Standard for 3.3T +$0".
It shows, under "Info", a "Brembo braking system", "Limited-slip differential", and "Sport-tuned suspension".
Can anyone confirm if the 3.3T/AWD really comes with a Limited-slip differential? Other sites/articles say the LSD can only be had with rear-wheel drive.
For giggles, here's me trying to play with an LSD: https://youtu.be/1jw6hGccYgs. However, you'll learn more from well driven C8 Corvette: https://youtu.be/8xs_2An9Uto
I have a 2015 XLT with the 2.7l engine RWD and im wanting to swap out the differential for a truetrac, which is a LSD, so i can get some light off road capabilities and to get a little help in case i ever buy a small trailer. Has anyone ever done that before? Anyone here with any experience with it? Im probably going to have 4WP do the work because i dont think a dealership would agree to do that.
Curious if you guys think it's a gotta have or a not so big deal to not have. I'm looking to get a competizione soon, and wondering if the upgrade is worth it.
I couldnβt find an exact answer anywhere else so now Iβm asking for all of your knowledge.
Hi guys. My 2002 AC 4x4 Limited has a regular open differential in the rear. Is it still possible to buy a Limited Slip differential for this truck?
Some links I've found, either direct me to non existant pages, or out of stock items.
Thanks in advance
Hey there, Iβm planning to do a fluid change on my rear diff (RWD) and I bought Lucas heavy duty SAE 80W-90 gear oil, on the back of the bottle it says I donβt need to use limited slip differential additive. Would it still be a good idea to put it in? Thanks!
Can someone tell me what i have to setup in Forza Horizon 4 (in %) so i can recreate Takumi's LSD.
Wondering what seal I need to replace here, and what this thing is and what it does. 1997 Pathfinder LE

My dad and I have this ongoing argument that a LSD either increases or decreases cornering ability. I get they help in a straight line because they help lessen the amount of wheel spin but I donβt get why they would cause worse cornering ability than a non limited slip diff?
I have a 2019 Fiesta ST and I recently ordered a Quaife ATB LSD and I for the life of me can not find a single place that will even touch it. I have called 4 shops that specialize in this and they have all said "We do not touch aftermarket parts." In total I have called over 20+ shops in and around my area.
I bought the LSD from mountune, a company that sells products that do not void warranty (Some still do but not all) They are partnered with Ford... So what is the deal? Why is my car an untouchable? And any tips and tricks for changing out my open diff for this one at home?
UPDATED : I said fuck it and installed everything myself. saved a bunch of money and the car handles better than ever. Tracking it today to see how she fares.
Hey I have a 1980 280zx non-turbo and Iβm looking for a LSD so I was wondering if you guys knew any sites or places where I could find some.
Sunburst Yellow, an additional $100 option.
The Sunburst ZNSS could play with many cars above its' price range for the time, both in straight line performance and cornering. Lesser trims were the S, ZNH, and ZNS. The S came standard with a 1.6 liter SOHC four banger with a 3-speed auto, the ZNH with a 1.8 liter DOHC 4 banger with a 4-speed auto and the ZNS the same as the ZNSS, minus the limited slip rear differential. These were generally reliable cars, minus interior rattles and damaged trim that developed within a few years of owning the ZNS or ZNSS (with the stiffer suspensions).
Hey guys I was considering getting this service done. Iβm at 60k miles and on Shopdap website it says itβs recommended. I was wondering how much I can expect to pay at a shop. I see on shopdap website that the fluids is like $60. I saw the video and I donβt have the tools or confidence to do it. Assuming I get chatted like 150 for service Iβm expecting to pay like 200. Does that sound about right? Also I want to hear your opinion if itβs really needed. I donβt really drive hard or tracked my car ever
Iβm pretty much only worried about the viscous limited slip differential and the suspension on my fwd car. Long story short as of yesterday I have 3 different brands of used tires on my car with the two different ones up front. Iβm pulling hard left now (before this I was pulling right lol Iβm so confused). All sizes are the same. I know. Itβs a disaster. I couldnβt give a shit about these tires since Iβm going to get new ones in a couple weeks and do the alignment then and repair anything else I may need to, but what am I hurting until then?? Am I putting added stress on my limited slip differential?
Hey Iβm trying to buy a y38 LSD used in the gt86βs FRSβs and BRZβs. Is there any differences in the LSDβs from a automatic trans vs a manual trans or all the LSDβs are the same between those trans types. Also did any of those 3 models of cars come with a open y38 diff or no. Itβs hard to tell if something is a open or a LSD y38 diff online or in pictures. Or am I just dumb and every y38 diff is a LSD? Thanks
i have a 595 with mechanical limited-slip differential(LSD) so I was quite suprised that it still came with the button for TTC. It wouldn't make any sense to me to have TTC if your front axle has a mechanical LSD anyways.
Also, cornering feels better with TTC off. What is your take on this? Why still have TTC?
Just wonderingβ¦
