A list of puns related to "Ircd"
Hello,
I was curious if anyone has any thoughts on Charybdis vs ircd-seven. I know that ircd-seven is a fork of Charybdis by freenode but I'm curious what the actual differences between the two are. What does ircd-seven change within Charybdis to make it more or less appealing?
Also, is Charybdis even still supported that much? There was a commit on the Charybdis Github that said that "no really, it's dead people" and pointed to ircd-seven for the continued project, however it was reverted and someone seems to still be maintaining it to at least some degree but I'm curious how official that is / how long that will last.
Any input or suggestions is appreciated.
I've used IRC for years but only just now decided to set up my own server (ircd-hybrid on a Raspberry Pi.) Is it possible to prevent normal users from creating new channels on my server?
Good day, everyone. Hope y'all doing fine.
I would like a recommendation for a trustworthy host for IRCd. Does anyone use XShellsZ, Risingnet or any other?
Thanks again.
I would like to run ircd on one of my own servers (running latest FC), just for our internal stuff so under 10 users. I think the priority would be security since the box in question is connected to the internet and not so much irc admin side since we expect well behaved users (friends and coworkers). I saw the wikipedia article that compares all the ircds but I feel like this is total overload of information and I still can't decide!
For those of you who run their own, how did you pick?
I'm attempting to build a IRC Message parsing class and I want too ensure that I understand whats going on.
Here are some examples and what I think is the pattern.

Am I somewhat close? Why are the prefixes different for each response? Responses seem to differ based on IRC network and command. How do you account these?
Is there some consistency/guide I could follow?
Thanks!
Well, this is a great IRCD. Anonymous, Cross-network and very oriented in security.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this but here goes.
I am trying to set up a basic irc server using ircd-hybrid with Debian Linux. Everything went well, but the problem is when a user wants to creates a channel they are operators of that channel. I can become operator of the server but not in a chat room that wasn't created by me. I searched around and found this
http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/63816/become-operator-on-all-channels-ircd-hybrid
After following those instructions I got an error saying that I couldn't become operator of the channel because it wasn't operatorless. Is there anything I can do to get around this?
Hi there,
I've been trying to set an IRC server and it keeps giving me a fatal error, saying that my SID is invalid. I Googled to no avail. I set it to 840A (also tried 8400), because 840 is the US and and A or 0 is the first identifier (or whatever you want to call it). Here is my example line:
M:mywebsite.com:City, State:port#:840A:
How can I fix this?
Do your worst!
It really does, I swear!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.

I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
There hasn't been a post all year!
