A list of puns related to "Höðr"
"In the Gylfaginning part of Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda, Höðr is introduced in a prophetic way: "One of the Æsir is named Hödr: he is blind. He is of sufficient strength, but the gods would desire that no occasion should rise of naming this god, for the work of his hands shall long be held in memory among gods and men."
Tricked and guided by Loki, Höðr shot the mistletoe arrow which was to slay the otherwise invulnerable Baldr: "Loki took Mistletoe and pulled it up and went to the Thing. Hödr stood outside the ring of men, because he was blind. Then spake Loki to him: 'Why dost thou not shoot at Baldr?' He answered: 'Because I see not where Baldr is; and for this also, that I am weaponless.' Then said Loki: 'Do thou also after the manner of other men, and show Baldr honor as the other men do. I will direct thee where he stands; shoot at him with this wand.' Hödr took Mistletoe and shot at Baldr, being guided by Loki: the shaft flew through Baldr, and he fell dead to the earth; and that was the greatest mischance that has ever befallen among gods and men."
Both were also guided/tricked into doing something against their own will for a bigger purpose, both were also strong, Hodor´s action of holding the door for Bran will probably be remembered in songs thanks to the fact that he saved Bran, the kid who will probably save all of the Kingdoms through his powers and visions.
I don´t know if George R.R. Martin intended this, but, I believe that he did so considering the fact that many of his characters follow similar paths from some other mythological figures.
After hearing the myth, all I could think of was how badly Höðr got the shaft. Not only was he blind, he was tricked into killing his universally beloved brother, and then later killed to avenge this. By our modern ideas of morality, I believe many people would think that Höðr would not be fully at fault, if anything, he's another victim in the situation. Loki was the one with the evil intent, and Höðr was an unwitting pawn.
But that's our modern ideas of morality, do we know what the Norse felt about moral issues like this? Was the sin of kinslaying so egregious that even if accidental it was unforgivable? Or was Höðr's death by Váli not done out of malice, but simply "what must be done" in a situation like this? And what of Loki? Would the Norse consider him to be more or less at fault? Even if they did consider him a murderer for what he did, would he be less guilty since he didn't murder his kin while Höðr did, however unwittingly?
Some Norse mythology linkings to the name Hodor for y'all. Höðr, (Also called Hod, Hoder, and Hodur) is the blind God, God of the cold and dark in Norse mythology as well as brother to Baldr the invincible. In old myth Hodr actually is tricked into slaying his brother with a mistletoe arrow. interesting how he slays an invincible being with the only thing that can harm it. Sounds a lot like dragonglass to me. and if Hodr is related to the cold and dark, you can draw connections between the wights and him. Even Coldhands. Although at this point I'm just speculating. What I do firmly believe is that Hodor holds the key to fighting the wights. Upon researching my theory on the ASOIAF wiki I found Schlacko has a similar idea
Höðr is now available.
In other news, we are swapping out our balm packaging. [Clearance] (http://www.soapsmooth.com/index.php?route=product/special) on all balms in old bottles until current stock is gone!
Not to be taken too seriously!
This is the most batshit crazy, insane, Valyrian Tinfoil^^TM theory I've had... It all started with this post.
So young Walder was a simpleton, right? Which makes him the perfect candidate for warging into. We've seen this in action with Bran before. My speculation is that the Night's King (AKA the King of Winter) warged into Walder, and as a result he began chanting this mantra: 'Hodor'. Put simply, it affected Walder.
Why did he do this? This is where details get hazy. (Absolutely no idea, just roll with it!)
But we've heard from GURM that we'll see further North than ever before and I think this could be through the eyes of the great Other himself. When Bran wargs into Walder beneath the tree he will interact with the Night's King. Maybe Bran will even be able to see the events unfolding in the far north?
Do we know what happens when two wargs occupy the same body?
Race Nord, Primary Skill; Frost destruction magic.
This is as far as I've gotten. I see pictures on google images with him depicted wielding a bow... but I'm unsure of how else to build this character. Looking for suggestions on gear, skills etc. I'm not super picky about sticking to the lore, I just want a fun build based off of a Norse god.
Lore: Höðr (often anglicized as Hod, Hoder, or Hodur[1]) is god of winter and brother of Baldr in Norse mythology. Tricked and guided by Loki, he shot the mistletoe arrow which was to slay the otherwise invulnerable Baldr. According to the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda, the goddess Frigg made everything in existence swear never to harm Baldr, except for the mistletoe which she found too young to demand an oath from. The gods amused themselves by trying weapons on Baldr and seeing them fail to do any harm. Loki, upon finding out about Baldr's one weakness, made a missile from mistletoe, and helped Höðr shoot it at Baldr.
As far as abilities and such are concerned I feel that should all be left up to Hi-Rez
These are some Servant ideas that I have had since I've already asked what you guys want.
I know that the Servant has to be someone that people know for the most part, since almost every Servant is someone that everyone knows with a few exceptions.
Saber
Yagyu Jubei, the One-Eyed Samurai. I feel like his NP will be some kind of Mystic Eye under his eyepatch or something. But if they want to go super Bullshut, I could imagine him being a Pseudo-Servant of Yvette L Lehrman.
Archer
Tchaikovsky, composer of 1812 Overture. The Orchestral song featuring CANNONS! I have already made a post about it here. I am trying not to just shove people in Caster
Angelica Ainswroth, holder of the Gilgamesh Class Card in Prisma Illya. I wonder how Archer/Caster Gil would react to her, or even Enkidu. I mean we know Kid Gil isn't fond of her.
Lancer
Arachne, the Spider-Woman Weaver. Her Lance would simply be an enlarged sewing needle. She'd either be a sort of Spider- Centaur, or the Spider-Legs would be coming out of her legs. For some extra shit, she might be merged with the Japanese Spider-Yokai Jorogumo, or just reference it similar to how Galatea referenced the tsukumogami. Also, her being a woman made into a monster by Athena, Medusa might gain a new friend.
Sigma,>! Maiya Hisau's son from Fate/Strange Fake. Apparently the True Lancer of the True and False Holy Grail War!<. I really just want him in to see how he'd interact with the EMIYA family. Someone give Shirou/EMIYA some guy friends! Of course, we'll need to wait a long time for strange fate to finish to get him since the author doesn't like using f/sf characters for anything else atm.
Loki, god of mischief. Maybe being half-Jotunn can be a good enough justification to keep him as himself and not need to be a Pseudo. I like OSP's interpretation of a "genderfluid benevolent but mischievous Hearth Spirit who protects the home and family". Genderfluid would open up for one of Fate's many genderbends they love doing, but if they kept him male and make his character about all the kids he has, then imagine...Loki, who is a god of mischief and a dad.........Loki making dad jokes. Although I feel like they might go with the female Loki one since Fate loves Genderbends and IDk if Japan has an equivalent to dad jokes. The reason he'd be a La

According to the TYPE-MOON wiki:
Like his fellow Disciple Ashiya Douman, Alien God's Muramasa has various Divine Spirits combined into him. The list includes a blind Norse god of war (Höðr) and a smithing god known for god-slaying. In the English Lostbelt Alter Ego Muramasa has the unique combat line "Kushinadahime goes on my hair", implying Susanoo is one as well.
I am curious about the line "smithing god known for god-slaying" and I personally hope that it is Hino Kagutsuchi. He is a fire god as well as a patron saint of Blacksmiths and is known for killing Izanami when he was born.
Do you think that Kagutsuchi is the third god in Alter Ego Muramasa, or is it some other blacksmith god known for god slaying that I do not know about? because the only other smithing god I know of is Hephaestus/Vulcan and IDK if he ever killed a god.
Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis.
They also play roles in Lord of the Rings.
I guess that makes them the Tolkien white guys.
