I do not understand why Hyperborea would be UltraNat. Itβs economic,social,political and diplomatic policies scream Extreme National Socialism, but more accurately Burgundian System. As both Burgundy and Hyperborea are ideologically extreme totalitarian states which adopt hardline paganism, slavery of βlessorsβ and a undying passion to exterminate the lesser races. Also both nations are willing to end the world just to rid it of Judaism and its subgroups. The only difference is really who they term the Ubermensch. Also compare Hyperborea to Yazovβs Omsk, one a militarist faction hell bent on going to war for revenge for the sake of a national van feta, the other a super Pagan, anti-Semitic state which only wants to go to war to cleanse the world of degenerate Judua peoples. But still this is a question so can anyone please say why Hyperborea a UltraNat state is?

I feel itβs legit impossible to win as Hyperborea. You have almost no manpower, very little political power, the focus tree doesnβt really help you that much compared to the other warlords, and your industry is pretty weak. I can unify west Russia pretty easily by vp sniping, but I find it impossible to fight Omsk or the Siberian Black Army because of my complete lack of manpower as well as horrible attrition.
How did you guys win? Am I missing something?
Is this mystical lost civilization hidden from us? We have photos of the North Pole and there's nothing there but ice. Yet some explorers mention great warmth in the northern region. So it seems as if there are two different planes (dimensions).
Also the Greeks said that Hyperborea could not be found by foot or by ship.

ASSH is one of my absolute favorite systems in the OSR because it takes AD&D and creates its own game from that framework, expanding beyond a simple retro-clone. It absolutely oozes personality and I love it.
Are there other games that do that same thing, either with AD&D or other old school systems?

It was basically impossible to get outside of Italy for a long time, and my understanding is that the print run was sized based on direct preorders, so while it may not be as good of a deal, you may want to pick it up at the same time as buying the base game if you have any interest, since it might become difficult to find again.

They seem to overlap somewhat. For Instance, I'd allow Dexterity Tests / Feats to do things like Hide, Climb, and Pickpockets. But that might end up meaning that non-Thief characters actually end up being better at those things then the dedicated Thieves! Or that Thieves with high DEX don't even need their Thief Abilities.
One remedy to this that I've thought of that might help is to say that if a non-Thief tries something that's related to Thief Abilities, it must be rolled as a Feat and never a Test.
Also something to keep in mind is that Thief Abilities are usually supposed to be very heroic, stuff that other people just can't do at all. So for instance, even if everyone can do climb checks in some way, only a Thief can scale a vertical surface with barely any handholds. Even if anyone can try to generally hide, only a Thief can disappear into shadows in the middle of a fight. Etcetera.
I've also homebrewed Tests and Feats to work differently. A Test is now a d20 roll-under mechanic, trying to get a result below the relevant Attribute. A Feat is the same thing, but you divide the relevant Attribute by 3. If your Class has the Attribute as a Prime, you instead only halve it for Feat checks.
One can also do INT, WIS, and CHA Tests / Feats like this.
