I feel like much of the current stress our system is facing now would be eased if we simply did not allow willingly unvaxxed people to get COVID treatment at the hospital.
I know, it's controversial. But between that and cancelling elective procedures, cancer screenings, etc...I would prefer anti vaxxers just die at home.
What is stopping our medical system from making this change?
Injured at job I had for 10 years in retail. Experiencing nerve pain from neck down both arms which prevents me from lifting or doing much at all. Also experiencing vertigo when moving about and back pain. Neck MRI shows two bulged discs in neck, and at least one is ruptured. So one day I am seeing neck doctor, who I pretty much already knew was in insurance companies pocket, and he releases me for light duty at work. I try explaining to him that there is NO light duty. We were understaffed, and this store at beginning of pandemic was basically Black Friday every day for a year! It was absolutely insane and I was struggling to do four people's jobs just to keep the store functioning. There was no way I could do the work with this injury. The doctors response "I can't help it if you don't like how the owner runs his business."
I see this so much because the love ones want to keep the person alive as long as possible because they are afraid of losing them.
Meanwhile they dying person is suffering unimaginable pain if you ever watch a person gasping for breath you would know what I mean.
I know a lot of you will say "What about an Advance Directive? Well to tell you the truth I don't think their are too many people with the stomach to sit down and plan their own death. That is the Doctors job.
Imagine this scenario "A dying patient is gasping their last breath, they going into CARDIAC ARREST!! the BLUE TEAM IS CALL! "CLEAR" !!!! they work on them pounding, shocking, filling them with drugs, just to get that steady rhythm back. The patient is back to gasping for breath screaming into the abyss.
I am sorry if this causes pain to anyone, I just want to bring to light want other are and have been burying for years...
We have seen the Doctor talk about the Hippocratic Oath on various occasions. However, even in todays world the Hippocratic Oath isn't fully to be followed anymore. It says for example a doctor must not give abortion medicines and alike to a woman. Even in Voyager we have an example where the possibility the Doctor may have performed an abortion (I cant remember the circumstances or episode now, sorry) was present. The episode, which got me thinking about this however, is S. 4 Ep. 14 "Message in a Bottle". The Doctor is sent to the Prometheus and finds Romulans. While he begins to treat the Romulan, he sedates him right away and turns to more tactical matters. They (+ the Prometheus EMH) still treat the patient but very delayed and only after tactical matters. And them they sedate the entire Romulan Crew. Now, of course he did the right thing as a member of Starfleet but as a Doctor with the Hippocratic Oath, he did the wrong thing. We know he was programmed with quite a persona but his actions appear to only follow the Oath (excluding some aged practices) when it does good to the crew, he tends to only follow the very necessities when it comes to enemies. What do you think?
Are they ethically bound to treat the injuries of enemy soldiers? Are they bound to follow the normal rules of triage, e.g., treating a badly wounded enemy combatant before a lightly wounded soldier of their own side?
This seems to be a major misconception among non-doctors - lots of TV shows and movies have some line about "I can't do that, it's against the Hippocratic Oath". There was nothing at my university and I've never heard it mentioned in a hospital, so just wondering if the oath is still a thing, or when it stopped being so. Maybe some places do an updated oath, or maybe it's just myth.

Genetic manipulation has potential for harming the entire planet, weaponry, engineered illnesses, whatever. Couldn't we at least demand an oath from students, to never destroy life as we know it?

According to Wikipedia, the pagan references in the original version of the Hippocratic Oath were replaced with references to Christ, and was written out in the form of a Cross. I was able to find a copy of the Oath written in that same form of a Cross, but hilariously the person used the original, pagan version instead of the Christian one.
My wife's in medical school, so when I read there had been a Byzantine version I got really excited, but I can't find it. Has anyone come across this before?
