English Libretto Link: Fanciulla del West lib - Despre Opera
La Fanciulla del West was the Metropolitan Opera's first world premiere. The opera was composed for the two biggest operatic stars of the time: dramatic soprano Emmy Destinn and tenor Enrico Caruso. Of course, Caruso is the greatest Italian tenor of the 20th century, and he was already one of the most famous people in the world by 1910. Caruso made his debut in 1903 as the Duke in Rigoletto.
Emmy Destinn had just made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1908 as Aida. She had already electrified Berlin and Covent Garden with the size and purity of her voice and her intensely theatrical stage portrayals. Puccini was a great fan of Destinn's, andwas said to have admired both her Tosca and her Madama Butterfly, roles she rarely sang at the Met because of Geraldine Farrar who had a monopoly on those roles there.
La Fanciulla del West is adapted from a play by the same name (The Girl of the Golden West) by David Belasco. He is also the author of Madama Butterfly.

GREAT WELCOME FOR COMPOSER AND AUTHOR
The evening was a climax so far in what the directors of the Metropolitan Opera House have done for grand opera in this city. To procure a new opera for the repertoire is in itself an achieve

Condition: [B]- I only inked it two times and it was a pleasure to write with. I tried the ink once (dipped) and it was very nice. The nib writes amazingly well and I see why people miss Delta.
Description: This is a limited edition Delta Giacomo Puccini (#489/1858). It is a converter pen, using Delta's nice screw in converter.
Nib: The nib is a 18K Gold nib in medium. I find that it writes closer to a western extra fine-fine (it's definitely not a western medium, in a good way). There is pleasant feedback.
Price: $300 OBO (down from $375) plus $12 shipping (price is for Continental US shipping only). Due to Covid-19, I am only shipping within Continental US right now.

Why tea?
Tea is a slang term for gossip/news/side comments. I've decided to name this series Opera Tea to encourage dirty nitty-gritty talk about the week's opera. Locker room Intermission talk, if you will.
What's next?
It's a secret!

Condition: [B]- I only inked it two times and it was a pleasure to write with. I tried the ink once (dipped) and it was very nice. I am not the first owner (had it for less than 2 years), so I do not know how much use it got. However, when I received it, I could tell it must have been part of a collection that didn't see much use. I polished the metal on the pen to bring back the luster. The nib writes amazingly well and I see why people miss Delta.

Trades: I am willing to trade for something comparable in price or multiple pens to add to the price of this pen. Let me know what you have and we can discuss. I am interested in an Aurora Optima Black and Gold (specifically a black and gold version because thatβs the boring style I tend to go for). I may also be willing to trade up by trading pen and additional funds.
