A list of puns related to "German Shorthaired Pointer"
Only his head was moving slowly to the left. After that, he turned his head towards the water again and waited for the ducks to come in.

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping I came to the right place to ask this question, I hope I'm not scaring you off with all of this text!
Me and my partner (29y) have wanted a dog for a few years now but we lived in a small apartment and we always wanted a big dog so that wouldn't be ideal. A few months ago, we moved to our house with a big fenced yard, closeby fields and a forrest. We have had our eyes set on a german pointer for at least a few months now (but haven't found a pup).
Some info about us: My boyfriend works fulltime (approximatly). I work from 8 to 5 for 3 days. The other 2 are more flexible (sometimes a few hours, sometimes from home,...). We plan on letting the dog in our house and also in the yard (no close confinement) and taking him out for walks and free running outside at least once every day. We also have small kids in the family and plan on having some of our own (+ I'd be working less) so a friendly and loyal dog is also a must. We also plan to take him to doggy training and generally, spend time with him.
Now, I always thought it was perfectly okay to leave the dog alone for a few hours a day, as we used to have a Dalmatian and he always seemed happy.. Also it always kinda bothered me tbh when dog owners insist that the dogs can't be on their own in the daytime, as we have to work for our home with a garden, as I assume most people have to do..
So maybe I can ask for an honest opinion here? (preferably without the harsh judgements as seen on some of these fb groups) do you guys think a german pointer would be a good match for us? What are your experiences? A lot of breeders from Germany, Belgium, Holland seem to breed and prefer hunting dogs, but it seems like a german pointer is an excellent family dog as well, right?
Thanks in advance! Always prepared to answer more questions.

+Do not chase!
We are in shock. I always take Cinder out first thing in the morning (still dark) on a slip leash. Thursday morning, there was frost, so when she spied a deer in the woods, she pulled me so hard, I fell to the ground and lost hold of her leash. I figured sheβd tear around for a bit and then come back with that happy, panting, βthought-you-were-running-with-me-momβ face. I spotted her a couple times within the first 10-15 minutes, but she was not ready to stop running. (If you know a high-energy, athletic dog, you know that evasive bounce they do and that I had no chance!) She was dragging her leash and seemed unbothered by that fact. She does not have a collar on, but is registered and microchipped.
There have been NO sightings. Not one. I donβt get it! We (with the help of so many friends and strangers!) have combed the woods completely and thoroughly near our house. We thought maybe she got her leash caught on something and hadnβt gone too far.
Did someone steal her? Will I get money demands by text? Is she simply in another county by now? She could definitely run all day and be happy about it, but she is NOT a fan of the cold we just experienced.
Sheβs a high-energy NUT. But sheβs OUR nut.
Itβs getting harder to think clearly or process possible outcomes because sheβs seemingly vanished.
Posted and shared a zillion times over, called police/vets/emergency vets, filed reports, visited dog shelters, hung/handed out signs, working with every animal rescue group possible, even drove to another town to check out a caught Dalmatian... What now? Where is Cinder???
Scout is a 5 year old GSP missing since ~7pm 12/31 from Hamden and Tamarac area, South Denver. He has an orange collar and black Christmas bandana on. He is microchipped. White with small black/brown spots all over and one large spot on his back. Please call +1 (720) 438-5513
Hey guys.
I've asked a couple of places but with no results. My wife and I are looking for German Shorthaired Pointer puppies in Windhoek (and surrounding areas) to make our little family bigger. If anyone knows of someone please DM me, thanks very much in advance!
Hey.
Weβve taken our 1 year old pup to the vet numerous times lately. Seems she had an allergy to her food and caused her ears to get all red and itchy and she would scratch her eye as well. Vet originally thought the eye scratching was related to her ears being itchy. We switched food and seems to be better but her eye over the last 2 weeks or so has been getting worse and worse. We took her back and they think it might be mites, did a scrape and didnβt see any but he still thinks itβs mites so they gave her some antibiotics and a pill that supposed to help with mites. ( I forget the name) itβs been 4 days and her eye still looks like this and itchy. We have to keep a cone on her. Does this look reasonable for it to be mites? Iβm not looking for a diagnosis but more to see if we are on the right track.
I am wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a reputable German Shorthaired Pointer breeder in the area. I've been searching google and I find a new one with every search and I have no way to tell if they're reputable besides the same paperwork that all of them have.
Also an upcoming planned litter is ideal. I'd like to have a puppy in the next 4-5 months.
This has drived me nuts for YEARS. My father breed/trained GSPs since I was a child, I've seen hundreds of 'em in my life and love them to death. My family has personally owned 7 of these suckers in my life (Im 23) and have had some before I was born. Seeing so many of these things, if anyone was going to be able to spot the difference, you'd think it would be me, RIGHT?
WRONG! I've never been able to tell. I understand the temperament differences, English Pointers are a tad larger and sometimes have lighter shaded spots etc. But send me two pics of a Roan or Black colored GSP next to a Roan or Black English Pointer, and there's a fifty fifty chance Im gonna be wrong!
Only way I can tell the difference is the tails! From my experience English Pointers arent docked, at least not as often, but even nowadays that line is blurring as docking becomes less popular.
There has to be something more obvious!!!!!
We are getting a fence installed when we welcome a GSP puppy to our suburban house in July. My bf and I are going back and forth over the fence height. What do you think is a good fence height for these kinds of dogs? The goal is to be able to open the door and have him run around the yard without having to worry about him leaving if thereβs a bunny or something exciting going on at our neighbors house. I think 6 feet works, bf thinks 12. Weβve been seeing some pretty crazy videos of these dogs climbing trees etc so any advice is really appreciated!!!
This is a topic that has been exhausted in this subreddit, I know but I need to get this off my chest.
My boyfriend's nearly 4 month old GSP is the most energetic, cutest little button ever and I love her DEARLY. But she is DRIVING ME CRAZY.
I understand puppies teeth -- this isn't my first dog, though she is my first large breed dog.
But her biting is so, so, so aggressive.
I have scars and bruises up and down my arms and legs. She breaks skin at least once a day either from her teeth and/or paws. She lunges and grabs ahold of anything -- t-shirts, hands, arms and will latch onto that and shake her head. She's gone for the face and a couple times tried to bite my throat as I was laying on the couch.
I've tried all the recommended methods: yelping and ignoring, standing up and walking away, redirecting.
I've frozen towels for her, frozen peanut butter in a Kong, antlers, horns, Himalayan yak cheese, bullies, ropes, rawhide, the list goes on and on and on.
But when she's decided that I'm her target and latched on, throwing a ball or trying to dissuade her with a chew toy or treat doesn't work. At this point, I can't even get her to let go of my clothing without having to force her jaw open with my fingers.
This doesn't feel like normal puppy teething.
Once, I was bending over to clean up a potty mess and she BIT MY BUTTCHEEK! Through my shorts, left a decent gash and I couldn't sit comfortably for a couple days.
I don't know how I'm supposed to disengage and walk away when she follows me around while nipping at my feet. She'll latch onto my clothing again as I'm trying to pull away.
I'm at such a loss.
It's starting to affect my relationship because she doesn't act as aggressively towards my partner who uses a much more dominant training method. When he sees her act up with me, he'll give her a smack on the snout and I lose my goddamn mind because I do not believe in that kind of training.
EXTREMELY frustrating because she ADORES him despite him being tougher on her and it reinforces his training method.
I'm so freaking burnt out. I'm so tired and honestly, scared of getting scratched and bitten every day. I don't know how to stop it or train her to disengage. She is only getting larger and when her canine teeth come in and this behavior continues I don't know what I'll do.
I keep hearing this passes after a bit but I'm so exhausted and freaked out, what if it doesn't.
What do I do? At this point, I'll try hypnosis if it means a day with
