German Reunification Puns

I'm not German, but I heard stories about my grandparents traveling to Berlin when the wall collapsed. How the population felt right after this event? Was it an happy ambiance or a sad one in Germany ? Did the entire city was partying for days or not at all?

Edit : I asked myself this question while thinking about travelling in Korea, I thought it would be a special sensation to travel there the day the country will reunite. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to be a similar situation as back in the days in Germany.

Im looking for a good read about tne German reunification ideally written by someone who was involved in the process first handedly and close to the kitchen, (Kohl, Fischer, two plus four treaty access) Im interested in this topic which I' ve learned in school and watched documentaries later but I find it an extremely interesting topic that as an European I find inspiring.

Ok, so I was doing my first game of this mod as the DDR, East Germany, and while am doing my stuff, reducing soviet influence and all, I see that Ollenhauer has been elected in the West, and that he is going down a reunification path. It makes me kinda excited and interested, I'll turn indépendant sooner and already reunified! Problem, reunification occurs, West absorbs East. Well that's not to much of a problem, I can just continue playing as the West right? That's what I do, but sadly, when I choose the West, I see that when the AI absorbed my country, it kept the military and industry, but not the research and space run progress that I did (already launched a dog in space). I was thinking, it'd be great that, when a country gets peacefully annexed at least, they give these kinds of progress too.

I watched this documentary about German reunification and they said that the allied powers had these “reserved rights” since the founding of West Germany. What were those reserved rights? I can’t find out what they were, I tried Wikipedia I tried google and I can’t find what they were. So could someone tell me what they were.

Has the economy grown faster with reunification? Did the people still see reunification as a good thing?

Were they prosecuted? What happened to the ones that still were loyal to the GDR? What about the Stasi members working abroad as spies?

I was talking on discord and there is a large German community within the server I was on. German reunification day came up and it sparked a pretty massive debate between Germans from the West and Germans from the former DDR about the way it was handled and wether it was an equal and brotherly reunification or if it was just the federal republic annexing the DDR. One East German even claimed that at the time the majority of east Germans didn’t even want to reunify. So what do you think? Do you think it could have been handled better? In what ways? Or was it handled in the best way it could have been?

How did World War veterans (both Allied and German/Austrian) and soldiers stationed in the two Germanies (and also the two Berlins) react to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany?

What happened to the East German military/police/intelligence establishments? Did they get integrated into the new Germany? I can't imagine the Stasi finding new jobs in the new government. Were East German soldiers able to move on to the (former) West German army?

So I recently watched Deutschland 83. So my question is inspired that.

If you had someone who was a spy for East Germany, who was discovered but escaped out of West Germany, what would happen to them after unification? This had to be a factor for some people.

Assume they hadn’t committed any other crimes, just espionage.

Would people who had spied for East Germany be prosecuted or was there amnesty for them?
