Funimation app on roku has steadily been going downhill. It started out great when I signed up, but then last year the roku app has been declining. For some reason, Mieruko-chan episodes would play fine before the intro, but then after the intro ended the subtitles would just stop appearing. I tried restarting the app, removing it and reinstalling it, changing my settings around. Nothing worked to bring subtitles back. I had to use the mobile funimation app on my phone and smart share to my roku to watch on my tv and just live with my phone notifications popping up.
Most Funimation anime appear on Hulu, but not all. I just checked, Mieruko-chan isn't there, so that wouldn't have fixed it, but now I can't even get the new winter season anime to load; or if they do load they don't display subtitles. I'm better off just saving the money for Funimation premium and hope Hulu picks up the ones I want to watch. Season 2 of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt a Kingdom is already set to air on Hulu today at 1230p, so that checks one off my list.
Has anyone else had similar issues with Funimation on the roku app specifically?
