Just recieved this amazing Late Victorian frock coat and waistcoat. They're dated 1895-1900, and fit like they were tailored for me!

What is the history behind the outfit of Haredi Jews (the white shirt, the frock coat, the black hat, etc.)?
I know of the concept of tzniut, and the tallit with its tzitzit (Num. 15:38; Deut. 22:12) and the yarmulke (Bavli Shabbat 156b) both make sense to me; the rest of the Jewish menβs clothing, not so much.

Just Joy Riding, 1/12/1945. Germany β the stables may be able, but the horse doesnβt look very. At any rate, Lt. Frank Bishop, Jr. (Left) suitably attired in frock coat and topper, and Pvt. Hermann Wilford, Winner, S.D., seem to be enjoying their buggy ride somewhere in Germany.

By 1926, the King shocked the public by wearing a black morning coat instead of a frock coat (a small but significant change).

Mid 18c frock coat pattern recommendations?
So I've spotted the frock coat of my dreams in the LACMA collection: https://collections.lacma.org/node/220990
(just look at it!)
So now I need a pattern to work from. I'm disinclined to trust the pattern from Reconstructing History; Laughing Moon doesn't seem to have anything with quite this full a skirt; and there's a very nice one from Black Snail that's just a decade or two too early, especially the height of the waist, and I don't love the double breasted cut either.
Anyone know of another pattern that's close? Please?

"In those days, "surgeons operated in blood-stiffened frock coats β the stiffer the coat, the prouder the busy surgeon", "pus was as inseparable from surgery as blood", and "Cleanliness was next to prudishness"" How would this make sense in the light of the miasma theory? Wouldnt everything reek?
"He quotes Sir Frederick Treves on that era: "There was no object in being clean...Indeed, cleanliness was out of place. It was considered to be finicking and affected. An executioner might as well manicure his nails before chopping off a head""
I see these quotes quite often (taken from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Liston) and it makes little sense to me. All of that should reek. If I believed in miasma, and everything I owned smelled incredibly bad, would I not believe its spreading disease? Furthermore, most doctors saw themselves as gentleman and were proud of keeping themselves clean. Why would they make an exception here?
