A list of puns related to "Finasteride"
Outjerked again.
Just want to say if youβre thinking of taking fin donβt be put off by the negative stories you read on here, thereβs 100k people on here of which maybe half take finasteride, so the few hundred negative stories you read really are the minority given the majority of men who take it just pop it like an aspirin and get on with there day and take advice from there doctors rather than anecdotal experiences people on Reddit who may or may not be bots have had. Just take it, start at a low dose and try and get the most from the least then forget about it!
My hair has gotten awful even while being on fin. My crown looks terrible and Iβm about to give up.I gave oral Min a try cause I know itβs nuclear but it also failed me. I think Iβm done guys. Dut probably canβt even help me..
Wanna know if I should get off the drug, Iβve been experiencing sidesβ¦
The aim of this post is to help people better understand how Finasteride dosage works. Ideally, you want to take a minimal dose at which the drug is still reasonably effective, but does not have any significant side effects. This will vary person-to-person, but for most people, it should be the recommended 1mg/day.
This post will be useful for those who want to try a reduced dosage. A good strategy for beginners is to start at a low dosage (ex. 0.5 mg M W F) and monitor for side effects. This dosage can then be slowly increased to the recommended amount (1 mg/day) for maximum effectiveness. You can stop increasing the dosage if you feel any significant side effects.
The logic to micro-dose finasteride comes from comparing the side effect profiles of Propecia (1 mg/day) and Proscar (5 mg/day).
1 mg/day (n=945) | 5 mg/day (n=1524) | |
---|---|---|
Decreased Libido - Year 1 | 1.8% | 6.4% |
Decreased Libido - Years 2,3,4 | - | 2.6% |
Although the DHT suppression is fairly similar at 1 mg/day and 5 mg/day, there is a lower percentage of adverse experiences reported at 1 mg/day. This suggests that there could be other factors of finasteride that contribute to side effects apart from Type II 5alpha-reductase inhibition/DHT suppression. Lowering finasteride intake could help with that.
Additionally, doses lower than 1 mg have slightly reduced DHT suppression, which could also reduce side effects.
Beginner users may also feel more comfortable starting off on a smaller dose/reduced frequency, which can potentially alleviate nocebo effects.
Finasteride inhibits Type II 5alpha-reductase (found in hair follicles and other tissues, responsible for 2/3 of circulating DHT). The inhibition of this enzyme is irreversible, meaning once finasteride inhibits the enzyme, it can no longer make DHT and must be replaced by new Type II enzymes produced by the body.
A single 1 mg dose of finasteride will suppress DHT by ~66%. As the body produces the enzyme again, the DHT levels will slowly increase until they are eventually back to normal. This is why you have to continually take finasteride to block any new enzymes produced by the body. The turnover (t^(1/2)) for the Type II enzyme complex is [approximately 30 days.](https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2002/20788S4lbl

I've seen maintenance + some regrowth; but unfortunately I'm not seeing as much regrowth as I want in my crown. As a result, I've decided to add oral 1mg EOD oral Finasteride. I will continue using the topical Dutasteride, but only once a week.
Based on what everyone says about oral Finasteride, I might expect my dick to fall off in about two months, which is actually why I've waited so long to even attempt to use an oral. However, after doing my own research and speaking with four different doctors, I've learned that the likelihood of sides (and even permanent sides) are VERY VERY low, so I will take my chances.
Wish me luck, and if you have any positive experiences from using oral finasteride, please let me know your dosage and how things went for you!
Thanks!

I'm 21 so I think my current size is no permanent but I want to hear your guy's opinion.
Yea my balls arenβt heavy shits not working like my moms spaghetti oh shit my scalp is balding lemme hop on 1mg finasteride to make me get laid heavy. yea milfs are hot but now i look like one because Gynecomastia fucked me up. Damn fuck dht got me fucked and shit but propecia helps me not look like a fucking pig . finasteride yea my booty tight yea hop on me like how youβd hop on finasteride yea.
Just wondering if many here are doing topical finasteride at the very low doses of around 0.025% without minoxidil and if there have been any results. That study back last October suggested for the first time that topical fin really can have a good impact on scalp DHT without so much systemic impact.
I think 0.25% dose lowered scalp DHT at the same amount as oral fin, but only lowered systemic DHT by 34% as opposed to something like 56% with oral fin. And some were saying that even a 0.025% mixed with perhaps stemoxydine could do a good job. So, anyone been doing this with results?
I'm thinking it could be a good way to tie things over until hopefully some wonder topical like pyrilutamide comes along.
I just got my blood work done. Everything looks fine even though I don't actually know because I wasn't tested before.
Here are some of the results:
TESTOSTERONE, FREE 173 pg/mL
TESTOSTERONE, TOTAL 928 ng/dL
ESTRADIOL 33 pg/mL
DIHYDROTESTOSTERONE 67ng/dL
PREGNENOLONE 224 ng/dL
I try to live a really healthy life. I workout 5 days a week. I eat good. I sleep at least 8 hours and I meditate.
I used to have a really high sex drive. I still have one but it's lower and feels different. I don't know how to explain it. I never had any issues in the bed room and my girlfriend says it's a night and day difference.
My erection quality is awful. Even with viagra it's not at all as hard as it was before Finasteride. The tip doesn't even get hard. I can have sex but it's different. There is a numbness feeling in my penis.
My sleep isn't as good as it used to be. It's not terrible but some nights I wake up for hours during the night. Once every two weeks or so.I have anxiety but I don't know how much worse it is. Some days it's bad.
I took finasteride for 5 months when I was 22/23. I was fine for the first 5 month but then I got erectile dysfunction. During it there was some numbness to my penis but nothing too bad, like 90% the same. But around the 5 month mark I couldn't get an erection. It got better after for a little bit but then worsen and stayed the same. Finasteride was easily the biggest regret of my life. I would do anything to be normal again.
I'm worried the androgen receptors in my penile tissue is damaged. I'm going to get an MRI on my penis in the coming months.
I'm 99.99% sure this was all caused by Finasteride. I don't think everybody gets this affects but I think it's much more common than it's made out to be.
Reaching a 2.6 years mark I've decided to post another progress update
M. 31y.o.
Finasteride 1 mg daily , micro-needling 1mm every other week, and regular biotin vitamins 5000
Still there and there have some sheds , some months are better than others, frankly I don't think shedding will ever stop, it's just not noticeable as the very first one. No side effects, nothing.
I think this is going to be my last post, unless something drastically changes.
Hope this will help someone, or encourage to try fin, of-course if that's something you are into. Always consult with a professional prior on taking any medications. Good luck!

I know about the side effects but those seem to do more with DHT being blocked. I'm talking about your testosterone levels as a whole being lowered.
why isn't dutasteride the number 1 medication?
My only regret when it comes to finasteride is not starting sooner. Not only is it effective, I now no longer go through my days stressing about my hair because something is being done about it. Going about my day without that stress has improved my overall mood and mental state TREMENDOUSLY. Please, and I canβt stress this enough, PLEASE do yourself a favor and hop on if you are considering. Your mental health and hair will thank you:)
Around 5 years ago at age 24 my hair started to diffuse thin all over and my hairline crept back to NW2/3, it almost happened overnight for me I went from my thick childhood hair to looking like there was something wrong with me.
Eventually I decided to start using minoxidil & finasteride 3 years ago and luckily I still have a full head of hair that has recovered to an acceptable standard so I no longer worry at all.
I just want to make some points to help others understand the reality of hairloss and tips to help live with it, although treatment can help keep your current hair and possibly improve it slightly you will never get your old hair back, it's part of life and growing older so you need to accept that and learn to live with it.
Here are my advice & tips:
1.When you first notice hairloss, hanging onto your old hairstyle is the worst thing you can do. You need to immediately find a shorter style. Thin hair always looks better short and remember wash your hair everyday! Greasy/dirty hair always looks thinner.
Trying to hide you hairloss looks way worse than just accepting it, the human brain is so used to seeing hairloss that people don't even notice it but what the human brain does notice is things that look abnormal. Hair fibres & coverups are way more noticeable than just normal thinning hair.
Styling your hair correctly with the correct hair products depending on your loss is vital. Wet products? Nope. Crazy hair styles? Nope. You need to use dry products lightly, powders, volume sprays, thickening mousse etc.. and the reality is the best style for thinning hair is a glorified army haircut combover, you will notice 80% of middle age men have this hair style, this is because it easily covers up minor thinning and improves the look of major thinning.
Jump on finasteride before any other treatment as soon as you have been diagnosed with MPB as it will halt your loss and has the highest chance of regrowth for the affordability out of any available treatment. No ifs, no buts, grow up and do it. I wish I did sooner.
Finasteride side effects are blown out of proportion by people incorrectly overdosing panicking hoping it will be more potent if they take more and misunderstanding the side effects. Finasteride needs to be taken at 0.5mg daily for a few months then 1mg daily after that NEVER MORE. Taking more will only give you negative effects you read so much about.
(Are there side effects? Of course. I experienced an it
... keep reading on reddit β‘Edit 4: I am disappointed. I hope there's enough valuable information below and in the comments for those of you who might need it. I'm no longer going to reply to any comments or messages. Y'all need Yeezus.
Edit 3: For all the people harassing me in my inbox and in the comments, you can fuck off. I have no reason to make this up, and I seriously don't understand why y'all are bigrading me for this post. I don't want to disuade you from taking it. Do whatever the hell you want. You guys defend this drug like your life depends on it and it's honestly quite sad. I'm just trying to get this info out there for others with eye problems like me.
TLDR: I think finasteride caused some serious issues with my eyes, and I want this community to know what I've found regarding dry eyes as a finasteride side effect.
Iβm a healthy 23 year old male. My hairline started receeding slowly as a teen. When I was 20 I hopped on fin and had great success.
My temples regrew quite a bit, my hair got fuller, and I didn't notice any side effects for two years.
In February of this year I was diagnosed with MGD and Dry Eye Disease. The oil-producing glands in my eyelids have mostly atrophied and died off. This means my eyes are chronically painful, itchy, and dry. It's hell.
I've had two corrective surgeries this month, which cost me ~$15k out of pocket. Neither medical insurance nor eye insurance would cover it.
To give you an idea of how bad my condition is, most people suffering from this condition are 65+ and still don't have as much gland atrophy as I do.
I've been out of work. I'm a software engineer by trade, and can no longer stare at screens for more than a couple minutes, let alone 8 hrs a day.
After almost a year of trying to figure out what's been causing it, I've found some scientific literature that points to finasteride as a likely cause. I stopped taking it a week ago, and now the chronic inflammation Iβve had in my eyes for the past year has all but disappeared.
Do what you will with this information. I'm not here to scare you all away from finasteride, but please, if you notice your eyes getting dry, go see an optometrist and ask them to check out your meibomian glands. If there's anything wrong with them, try quitting finasteride. Your eyes are more important than your hairline.
If I had known finasteride was a culprit, I would have stopped taking it a while ago. Now Iβve almost lost my career and done irreversible damage to my eye health.
Edit: Wha
