A list of puns related to "Biofeedback"
I've been using biofeedback equipment with meditation on and off for probably over 15 years. I got mine through a company called Wild Divine and I loved the meditation exercises they had in their games Journey to the Wild Divine and the sequel Wisdom Quest. Since I have a high resting heart rate, it's really nice to be able to see my heart rate lowering when I meditate using this equipment.
It's really a shame that those older biofeedback games I loved so much aren't really compatible with newer operating systems, but Wild Divine is now Unyte and they have updated equipment and software. They even do have some of the exercises that I used to love from the old games, but it's just without the immersive game environment. Even so, it feels great to be getting back into it again. I think so far my favorite program out of what they currently offer is the Zen Journey program. They even have just a plain grapher mode so you can use the equipment with any meditation. It's rather pricey, but at least they had a lifetime membership option so I won't have to pay a recurring subscription.
I still do meditations without the equipment, but it is nice to mix it up and do different things when meditating.
I also once experimented with neurofeedback in a therapist's office and I really enjoyed the games with those as well, but it was a major pain to wash the electrode gel out of my hair after every session. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue with that therapist after she had a baby, so it's nice to have an option to at least do the biofeedback at home.
Has anyone else used Wild Divine / Unyte biofeedback equipment or any other bio/neurofeedback equipment in conjunction with meditation? Would love to hear your experiences.
I have chronic constipation which causes me other issues (fissures and hemorrhoids). I have been referred for biofeedback/PFT. I am reading about biofeedback and am uncomfortable with the idea of inserting anything due to the fissure Iβm trying to heal and just general pain in that area. Is there a way to do the biofeedback without inserting the tool? Can they put it on the outside somewhere?
Has anyone tried it? Is there a way they can do it without inserting anything? I donβt want anything up there potentially hurting my fissure.
Or has anyone tried pelvic floor therapy in general? Did it work for you? Is it safe to do the stretches with a fissure?
(I have chronic constipation and likely tight pelvic floor)
You can check my post history for other posts of mine. I have HF and also had pudendal neuralgia that put me out of action for nearly a year and I ended up on pregabalin, but I continue (still) to generally recover.
My recovery hit a snag recently. I'd become dependent on doing hindi squats in a hot bath for muscle relaxtion, but I moved back to my house with no bath. Before I knew it my testicles were tiny and freezing cold again, and my gynocomastia began to slightly worsen again. Frustrating.
Hindi squats bring some relief, but hot baths were the only thing I'd found that actually reliably lessened symptoms. Without them I backslid hard, and I felt I'd hit a road block.
Reverse kegels work, but they're hard to do. The really novel stuff is later on the list, but the first item sis "foundational" - you build everything else on top of your absitence and reverse kegel work. My new approach:
- Stop masturbating. I'd decided to "spend" some of the symptom relief I'd gained from hot baths on masturbation. Unwise. Had to quit again. It gets easier.
- 30min-1hr Reverse Kegelling Sessions. Whenever I have time in the evening, I get comfortable in bed, start a reverse kegel, and hold it. Maybe for 30 minutes, or longer. You have to really re-establish control of your pelvic floor with these long RK sessions. They can feel weird - stimulating, even arousing, they sometimes cause small flares of my hand/feet coldness, but they're very necessary. To get to a full reverse kegel you might have to really PUSH the muscles, and inhale fully into your diaphragm and push out your belly. I'll expand on this more in the biofeedback section. The cognitive effort required to do these is very great at first. But it gets less effortful, and more automatic. Eventually it can become something you do without thinking about it every time you sit or lie down.
- Reverse Kegel Throughout Day: My friend likes to lucid dream, and the best way to have more lucid dreams is to build a "trigger" into your routine. He checks his watch multiple times a day, every time the thought pops into his head. Eventually it becomes very routine, and he stops noticing he's doing it. I suggest aiming for this with your pelvic floor. Develop a trigger that works for you to remind to you check your pelvic floor, perform a reverse kegel and relax it. It can become second nature. For me I find "lulls" in energy, or when tasks are completed works for me. If you work somewhere you take lot
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi - can someone recommend the best biofeedback equipment I can buy to use from home? I figure the places you go to are quite expensive so budget isn't an issue.
The brain centre (Perth Australia) - have a set up in their office, then you can buy/lease the equipment, but it's super expensive. I'll do that if I can't find an alternative.
Appreciate any advice....
My psychologist has me do this thing where he puts a monitor on my finger and I play a game on his computer- but in order to play the game I have to activate the relaxation response. I use to lose every time but now I'm really getting good at it. Has anyone else found this helpful to them?

Hi everyone,
I had an appointment with a urologist about a week ago that showed no structural issues with my urinary system, he basically said it's just my brain not sending enough signals to tell my body that I need to urinate.
I was talking with a therapist yesterday and she wanted me to look into neurofeedback therapy. She gave me a super brief overview of it, and I've done some research since then to learn exactly how it works. I've also seen some articles about it being effective for urinary dysfunction (although it seems like it's mostly used with children and I'm now in my 20s)
I was wondering if anybody's had any experience with this type of therapy. Based on what I've seen, it seems promising, but I would love to hear if any folks have had good or (perhaps more importantly) unsuccessful experiences with it.
Thanks!
I have found that doing these along with meditation gives me reprieve when I have a bad day.
Anyone else do this? Would love to hear from others
Today at physical therapy we tried this weird biofeedback probe and started with measuring how tense my muscles are and at rest my muscles were reading as high as the machine goes π« and then we tried the e-stim machine to try to manually relax my muscles and that was so weird it was almost pokey kinda grabby? It was not the greatest but Iβm making progress in general!!!
After doing a pelvic exam and identifying cramped muscles, a pelvic floor therapist put this electrode thing into my vaginal canal to measure the nerve activity and muscle movement and it was completely unstable and off the charts. She helped me use the biofeedback to try and control my muscles and my PGAD symptoms have decreased significantly in the past few days. I think I'm convinced know that at least MY PGAD has a big psychological component- almost like my pelvic floor muscles are directly connected to my anxious brain.
It's so cool to know this activity/sensation has a name. Anyone else play with biofeedback as well? I go through phases where I practice getting rid of headaches by imagining the pain radiating out and away from the central point and it works surprisingly well. Just one example. Anyone else do similar things? I think VGP is a great gateway experience.
My doctor at the pain clinic wanted to get me into their biofeedback problem and Iβm probably going to for multiple reasons other than just fibro, but has anyone had good experiences with it? Iβm worried about getting my hopes too high, lol
