A list of puns related to "Extreme Metal"
The nihilistic attitude of the Norwegian Black Metal scene of the 90’s and the misanthropic comments that many musicians from that scene made during the early to mid-90’s is very much like the writings of Dylan and Eric. Just look up quotes and interviews from guys like Euronymous, Dead, and Varg Vikernes. These guys hated humanity just as much as Eric and Dylan. They were very vocal about it to the media. And they were all very elitist, arrogant and kind of saw themselves as “gods” that were higher than the rest of humanity - just like Eric and Dylan. Several member of the Norwegian Black Metal scene became terrorists and murderers as well once the churches started to burn and Euronymous was murdered. Dead (Per Ohlin) was also a depressive type with strong suicidal tendencies that ended up committing suicide
With that being said, why didn’t Eric and Dylan listen to Black Metal and especially the Norwegian brand of it? You would think they would have really identified with the misanthropic and nihilistic attitude of the musicians and their criminal activities. Furthermore, why didn’t they listen to Old School Death Metal bands like Cannibal Corpse or Obituary that had gory lyrics and all? Especially given all the violent fantasies that Eric had and the rage that Dylan had
Instead all you see and hear about is Eric and Dylan gushing over bands like Rammstein and NIN. Groups that were decidedly run by more well adjusted people compared to the extreme metal musicians. And also groups like Rammstein and NIN would have found Eric and Dylan’s views and actions to be abhorrent and immoral. And I’m sure Eric and Dylan were smart enough to know that their favorite artists would not have approved of their views and goals . However, if Euronymous’ comments are to be taken literally he and some other Norwegian black metallers at the time probably would have approved of Eric and Dylan’s views
No particular reason for asking, just kinda curious as to how many of you guys are into the harsher side of metal.
So for most of my life coins have grossed me out. The sort of beginning of it I was when I was little I couldn’t eat with coins in my line of sight so they would need to be moved or covered.
I wouldn’t collect change, and it slowly started to develop, holding them with my sleeve, immediately handing them to the person closest to me etc. To the point where now you won’t find a single coin in my room, I have a money jar but that’s only allowed for notes.
They make me feel physically sick. Even if their on the floor anywhere in the house I’ll cover them and get someone to put them away. In the car if they are around they’re moved or I’ll quickly throw them into the bin if I can make myself to to do it.
The worst instance of my phobia was when a friend was offering around mints, I reached into the pot and felt a coin....a filthy copper coin in with the mints (It makes me nauseous just thinking about it). I watched in what I can only describe as pure horror as my friends all ate the mints. I basically sobbed and threw up as it disgusted me so much.
I’m pretty sure it’s not just coins as most metal objects gross me out to an extent, nails, keys, hammers, rings etc. But coins are definitely the worst.
I guess it’s more of an extreme disgust for coins and metals.
Who would love to see the next album mess with some more extreme metal concepts such as noise, blasts, tremolo guitars (as heard on the stage), strange time signatures, and maybe even some Johnny screams to texture out Matt’s lead (such as Napalm, for example).
We’ve been told that the album will be eclectic, and I have no doubt that they’ll dive into experimental rock, punk and metal, but what about a little black, death, grind, or sludge in there to pepper it off?
Hi guys, kinda noob here. I've bought a few guitars over the years, but you know, GAS hits hard once in a while. I'm missing in my collection a Strat-style guitar, but since I play mostly death metal I'm wondering if single coils are really used in these genres, or what particular tone I could achieve with them in this realm. I know I can always slap a couple of humbuckers on it, but I'm curious about the use of single coils in metal (beyond, I guess, Iron Maiden).
I would only be playing rock/ metal / punk both live and recording.
What is going to be the actual differences between the 18” version and the 20” version? Pitch?
The 20” is only $10 more so price really isn’t a factor. I’m just wondering why some people would prefer one over the other...?
I am not against this type of metal or anything and I enjoy it from time to time but seriously why?
Looking for an extreme metal or grindcore singer to add their voice to my music. I’m influenced by bands like Suffocation, Assuck, Morbid Angel, Discordance Axis and Cannibal Corpse. Male/Female doesn’t matter as long as you can write lyrics and record either at home or in a studio. Check out my music. If you like it and want to collaborate, reach out.

I'm essentially thinking something in the ballpark of Godflesh and Fudge Tunnel.
EDIT: also early Swans
Hey guys, just wondering if any of you struggle with speed from time to time. I have days where I can play 240BPM 16ths clean on double bass for almost 2 minutes straight, but the day after, I can barely do it for 1 minute, and it's also sloppy af. It's like my technique just disappears some days.
For my fellow drummers who work on speed and control a lot, do you have struggles like that? Like your performance can fluctutate every few days? Any tips would be really apprciated.
It seems some people aren’t too fond of their new record. Why is it? And I’ve heard there’s some complaining about The Last Dragonborn 👀
This might sound a little out of the blue at first, but after talking with a lot of people in the Extreme Metal community, there seems to be a lot of people who like that kind of music and also share a love of the souls games. And there are many bands that reference the Soulsborne games in their music (See Tomb Mold). so i just wanted to know if anyone here like it, and if so what bands in particular

Grew up a Hip Hop and Grateful Dead/Classic Rock kid (Alway liked all the classic Metal and Hard Rock bands as well)Hit a rough patch around 23-24 and the music couldn’t help. It’s when I discovered Black Metal. It helped me through some tough times and I’ve been a fan ever since. 36 now so I think I can say I’ve been at it long enough.
They said they wrote the album while they were jamming Judas Priest together. For example the solo to “Burnnn!” Sounds like “Locked In”. And the song “Hard Ride” sounds like “Rock Hard, Ride Free”. Seriously, if you haven’t heard this album, do that now. 100% worth it. It’s my second favorite Pantera album. It’s fun to point out moments that sound like Judas Priest songs.
