A list of puns related to "Environmentalists"
Mad-at-gas-car
I'm coming here from a 3000+ comment thread on an /r/science post about the clear and large greenhouse gas emission reduction possible by swapping out red meat for chicken once per day. Doing so would reduce one's footprint the equivalent of driving 3700 fewer miles a year. Yet many of the comments posing as environmentalists were trying to downplay the clear environment benefits.
I came across this article that had some good data on why a bunch of highly educated environmentalists ate meat. Most significant reason according to their methodology? "Meat is delicious".
But other significant reasons included "The environmental impacts of eating meat are exaggerated" and "Changing industrial farming is a matter of political change, not individual choice." Meanwhile, there is a strong agreement with the idea that "I will need to stop eating meat eventually".
Is this really it? "I like this thing and I'd rather put all the responsibility on other people to solve this problem for me"?
I'll start. Instead of getting a boring hybrid or EV as my only car, I bought a cheap low range EV for around $8,000 as my daily driver. It's a Chevy Spark.
Then I sold my Toyota 86 and bought a cheap used Mini Cooper to satisfy my full throttle on-ramp needs. I plan to keep the EV, and swap out the other car for other enthusiast cars when I want something new.
The EVs I am interested in are too expensive right now, and it's been really convenient having two vehicles.
In a casual conversation with a colleague, I mentioned that I use a remote starter during the winter (it gets super cold in my region of the US). He instantly jumps into a lecture about how idling vehicles is sooooo bad for the environment. It went on for a while and all I could think was dude, your two children are far more devastating to the environment than my idling vehicle could ever be.
This isn't the first time I've been criticized or lectured about effects on the environment from parents. I'm sure it won't be the last. I just wish I knew a way to make my point tactfully.
I suppose you could consider this a Part 2 of my previous thread discussing Cryptocurrencies. There was a thread recently posted on r/Technology that was eventually deleted (on guise of being a repost, but I didn't find any prior mention). Regardless, the topic of discussion today is once again everyone favourite savior and/or scam depending on your point of view, Cryptomining. In case anyone is unaware, Cryptomining is getting spotlight because of the real and potential environmental damage it is and can cause. Moreover, many nations have banned it's use. Just like last thread, many sides attempt to overcome one another. Those with a financial deposition in cryptocurrencies try their best to justify their actions, especially in the light of the environmental damage being caused. Cryptofreedom blokes who believe their coins will make a libertarian paradise see 'FUD' as a Government plant, last but not least, people sick and tired of bitcoin (Including but not limited to people who want Graphics cards or believe it is a scam) express anger at this being legal in the first place. A deleted thread and several deleted comments.
[Most people in general donβt like sacrificing the planet for people to mine digital currency, and itβs causing shortages in the tech industry so itβs not a great system for anyone but the miner](https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/r42wk7/bitcoin_miners_resurrect_fossil_fuel_power_plant/h

I'm hunting for like minded environmentalists in Chch. I've become disillusioned with what our leaders will do to solve environmental issues, so want to meet some like minded individuals locally. Any ideas?
A single S.
Environmentalists want their greens back.
Capitalists want their greenbacks.
Most of you probably know that the COP26 is taking place in Glasgow this week. Now there are multiple reasons why I believe that this is hypocrisy at its finest but the biggest is that Iβm just so done being preached to by global leaders and environmentalists who have kids.
I think the most insulting of them all is our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who has now confirmed he has 6 children with a 7th on the way. And he is claiming other peoples carbon footprint is a problem? He has helped bring 7 more mouths to feed; 7 more people to use up resources and 7 more people who need housing into this world and he has the audacity to stand there and say other people are the problem? Vile hypocrite!
To make things worse our government are now pondering bringing in more taxation on meat and dairy products. Hereβs an idea why not being in extra taxation on people who have more than 1 or 2 children? Because me eating meat a couple of times a week is a damn sight less damaging to this environment then constantly breeding is!
Urgh, rant done.
So in looking for a recommendation of a punk band (ideally hardcore punk or skate punk or such, something fast and aggressive) with environmentalist/deep ecology/ green left themes. Fast metalcore is also welcome.
The more recent the better.
If anyone knows, id be grateful.
Note: I know about Earth Crisis but i do not enjoy their sound. It sounds like purely just metal to me.
