Does anyone know much about them? They see to be a very rare phase, whereas anaconda phases are a lot more common. I assume they are c caninus, as opposed to c batesii.
So GTP's and ETB's both have a very similar niche of a tree dwelling constrictor, having teeth great for latching on speedy prey. Both sport a very simular appearance with some minor differences (ETB's have white stripes that go down the spine whilst GTP's tend to have a more speckled pattern).
Where I find it really interesting is with juvenile coloration, Both go through a really gorgeous color change until adulthood. While GTP's Go from Red, to orange, to yellow, and to green, ETB's Reddish-orange coloration just kinda fades out into green, no yellow phase whatsoever.
A quick google search tells that the red juvenile coloration is for blending in with lower parts of the forest which makes a lot of sense.
I can't get this topic out of my head, it's just so fascinating how a python and a boa evolved to fill an extremely simular role, with only differences in pattern, head structure, and reproduction. I'd love to hear what others think of this topic.
Shot in the dark as I'm coming up dry elsewhere.
I am looking for a breeder who has a Northern Emerald Tree Boa available. If anyone knows of any or can point me in the direction of possible options I would greatly appreciate it.
Edit: location is US
So I recently was gifted a 18x18x36 screened terrarium.
I was hoping to be able to keep an emerald green tree boa in it, but I am concerned about the size of a full grown EGTB in this size enclosure.
I have found most of the other information I was looking for but the sizes of the enclosure are for sure in a quite a bit of debate.
Thanks!
I recently bought a emerald tree boa from a store and when I got him he was skinny and malnourished and Iβve been trying to get him up to size. When he is in his perch he just hangs and dangles there. You can find a photo of that if you go to my posts. But I donβt know if heβs sick or not
I can't seem to find them
At a reptile expo this weekend I got an emerald tree boa. Somehow, among all the questions I was asking, whether he was wild caught or not slipped my mind. I got him for $430, for that price I gotta imagine he could be wild caught. Should I try to treat him for parasites? I'm giving him time before trying to feed him so he hasn't eaten yet, but it's only been 4 days.
