I am an Australian (with a British father, hence the UK passport), who has been living in The Netherlands for a while now. Finally, I have decided to get a proper (read: legal) driving license.
However, in The Netherlands, I'd be required to do the whole driving examination from scratch (and the theory, which happily can be done in English).
To avoid this hassle and expense, I have been thinking of exchanging my Australian license for a British one, and then that one for a Dutch one. Really, it is so much cheaper and quicker.
So, I have an address in the UK I can use. What is the detail of checking? Will they check to see if I have been living in The Netherlands? I would use my UK passport number on the application. I am just trying to sort out this situation, I am a competent driver, I'd rather jump through as few loops as possible.

Hi everyone, I recently started the process of getting the provisional driving license in order to start working towards the genuine artifact. The driver licensing agency requires a proof of ID. As I am not a UK citizen (I only have a pre-settled status), I do not own a UK passport. The papers I received state that I should send them the original of either an EU passport or an EU ID card. They specifically mention that copies are not accepted. I don't feel comfortable sending my passport through the mail, has anyone of you be confronted with this situation? Will they really block my application if I send them a photocopy of my passport?

There are too many over aggro dbag drivers on the road. I am not talkin people driving 10 miles over the limit, I am talkin idiots that go over 100 mph at 40 mile zone making 75 lane changes.
Since cops aren't always there to catch them, motor vehicle agencies should implement a complaint system where:
- solid proof is required with submission (i.e. dashcam clearly showing license plate #), not cell phone cam as this would promote unsafe phone usage while driving.
- complaint goes on the registered car (and its owner) and after reaching certain # of complaints, the owner gets his/her license revoked for certain period of time.
Issues with this:
- One can argue the driver isn't the owner of the car, but if the owner authorized the driver to use the car, it would also be his/her responsibility to ensure the person operates it safely.
- this would yield higher cost for DMV to operate, but also may yield some cost saving from eliminating aggro drivers from causing accidents on the road.
I’m sorry for the lack of excitement in this question but is there a location that specifically this? Midtown tag agency requires an appointment- but when you call no one answers and you can’t LVM - was hoping a Fellow Tulsan could steer me in the right direction ❤️
