A list of puns related to "Dead Poets Society"
i have a lot of attachment to this movie mainly because of neil, the first on screen homo (subtextual but still) I really connected with. but I feel like this place would call it cringe, which it is, but a beautiful cringe. ethan hawkeβs first big role also
This movie is so amazing in several aspects. If you want to laugh, cry, feel happy, joyful, sad, and full of hope to go into the world and live life to the fullest, watch this movie. It is Robin Williams in his prime, with a more serious approach. A teacher teaching at a prepatory school to inspire the students to carpe diem or latin for sieze the day, this tale tells the students stories of moving out of conformity and mediocrity and living life. A must watch
I found a 14 minute long YouTube video with deleted scenes from the movie that were on the laserdisc. Can someone explain to me what the means exactly? Iβm a early 2000βs person so I donβt know what that means.
Just wanted to share this because itβs such an incredible movie, really hits your heart. This movie came out in 1989 so people younger than 20 may not know. Robin Williams is absolutely phenomenal, his character in that movie is inspirational and the message he portrayed is so ironic of his untimely death ππ» If youβre in your 20s and want to watch a live that will give you a different perspective on life- Must watch. Understand the the theme/ message of the movie.
Hello there! I hope you are alright amid this global crisis. I am just here to propose an idea of being together or being dead poets. If you already aren't aware, dead poets are people who appreciate literature, art, music and themselves. Mainly influenced from the movie, I thought of bringing such people together so that we can actually do something. I am here with a scrap plan and I need assistance. If you are interested please hmu or comment down below. We will read poetry to each other, stories and many more. I feel alone and I am sure people out of my own room do feel the same. People call me a failure and I know people out there are tagged by others with the same. Let's be together. Let's grow together. Let's enjoy life together. Age, gender, status, religion nothing really matters just you have to have a passion for literature. Please if interested hmu or comment below. Let's make a Dead Poets Society!!!
I watched it tomorrow (seen it before) and I realised it is one of the best motivating movies ever made. As all the boys go for the thing they really want makes the viewer want to seize the day too. It was just so good to realise that there are movies that can motivate me so well and now I am looking for something like that. Thanks for the reccomendations. Carpet Diem!
I can not find the episode for the life of me and I'm starting to think I imagined it. It's not "Introduction to Film". I think at least Pierce, Troy, and Vicki are there. They're outside shouting and kicking a ball or hitting something like they do in Dead Poets Society. Pierce might say something mean about Vicki. Did this happen? What episode?
Hi so I really like Arctic Monkeys and Dead Poets Society and I though The Ultracheese would make an amazing song for an edit so if anyone likes these too and can make and edit, I would love to see it!!
I want a movie with a really good story line thatβs inspiring. Iβve seen Rain Man, Good Will Hunting, A Beautiful Mind, and other films like that. Looking for something Iβve never heard of or maybe something Iβve just overlooked!
I know that the idea of Neil and Todd being gay tends to gets an eye roll or ignored. But I truly believe there is so much evidence in this movie being queer coded that I wrote an analysis so- I'd love for people to read it! Let me know what you think!

Iβm looking for books that have the same kind of vibe as DPS, not necessarily to do with dark academia/boarding school. Iβm more looking for the same emotional wavelength as DPS, the carpe diem vibe. I donβt really know if this makes sense but Iβd appreciate any recommendations!! Thanks βΊοΈ
Just watched the above movie this morning before breakfast for the first time.
Wow I saw a lot of parallels to the org.
Anyone else see this film and notice the similarities?
Watching βDead Poets Societyβ for the first time this morning. Absolutely floored by Robin Williamsβ performance so far.
I found myself nearly breathless already during Mr. Keatingβs first lesson surrounding βcarpe diem.β Watching this now, after Williamsβ passing, has only multiplied the impact of the scene I imagine.
Thereβs something about his ability to morph into a character even as a young actor. Not changing his voice or adding drastic personality changes necessarily - but by barely altering his mannerisms to fit the role. Amazing.
What a phenomenal actor he was.
O Karen! My Karen! Your awful scheme is done,
Your bitchingβs deafened every ear, the prize you sought is none,
The end is near, the screams I hear, the people now a riot,
All cause your inflated ego couldnβt stand a diet.
But O heart! Heart! Heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the ground my Karen stands,
Complaints flowing from her head.
O Karen! My Karen! Rise up and hear the cries!
Rise upβfor you the song is sungβof impending demise,
For you the rocks and torches thrownβfor you the streets ablaze,
For you they call, societyβs scourge, their strained faces enraged;
Here Karen! Damn bother!
This phone within your purse!
Contains deleted Facebook posts,
Of flagrance you rehearsed.
My Karen does not answer, her lips are pursed and rosy,
My Karen does not feel amused, but rather cross and nosy,
The people angered, burning towns, their mission still so clear,
Through protests and democracy will Karenβs end draw near.
Protest on, until sheβs gone!
And I with purposed stride,
Walk the ground my Karen stands,
Consumed by all her pride.
So the DPS fandom is fairly small and quite stagnant but I was wondering if there's any of you out there that enjoy the film and have any fanfiction recommendation. Neil/Todd would be preferable because they are basically canon at this point. If there's anyone out there who loves this film as much as me please give me any recs you can!
Hello there,
Could you recommend me any movie related to youth and the nostalgy surrounding it? Something similar to Stand By Me, This Boy's Life, Dead Poets Society, Breaking Away, Heavenly Creatures.
EDIT: Thanks you all for your great suggestions!
title.!
what if... we all had daddy issues and went to a boarding school together where we had a cool teachers who inspired us to form a literature club and hold our meetings in a cave and called ourselves the dead poets society... unless...
