A list of puns related to "Dawn Of The Dead"
OK so which version of Dawn of the Dead is your personal favourite and why?!
I'm not going to hide my bias that the 1978 version is one of my favourite (I spell it that way as I am from the UK!) movies of all time. I'm not so keen on the first 15-20 mins of the 1978 version, as I find it a little silly and kinda boring. But the movie really comes alive when the main characters arrive at the famous shopping mall. I also like that there is such a small main cast. The bulk of the movie we, the viewer, spend with just four key characters. Also I loved the soundtrack to the 1978 version by the band 'Goblin.' My favourite song in the movie being 'La Caccia.' Tuuuuuuuuuuuuune!!!
I enjoyed the Zack Snyder directed 2004 remake. It is entertaining. The opening 10 mins or so is very strong and I was really impressed with that. Of course the special effects are much better, as is the quality of the zombie makeup. Also the acting is generally higher quality, and yet I like this version less. Why? My problem is mainly with the director. Snyder is a very visual director, and the cinematography in his movies are often very slick and impressive. The problem is that a lot of the interesting stuff from the original 1978 version is missing. The social commentary is not as strong in the remake. Also the original is a biting (pardon the pun!) satire on consumerism, and capitalism in general. The remake is the better looking film, but the original is more fun. The acting is generally better in the remake, but I cared a lot less for the characters. The makeup is better, etc. And yet... I don't think the 2004 remake really has much to say about anything.

So Dawn of the Dead '04 is, in my opinion, the greatest zombie movie of them all. You'd really have to work to convince me another film did it better - but...
The closing act of the film centers on a rather dumb plot device - the survivors are cooped up in a mall, surrounded by zombies.
They have a friend, Andy, trapped in his gun store across the road, who begins to run out of food. Allow me to illustrate
The crisis of how to get the food over to Andy is what pushes the final act of the plot into motion. They choose a rather terrible (ground based) idea that immediately goes wrong, and are forced to mount a half assed recuse mission, that gets most of them killed.
My question for you engineers is - tell me fourteen ways they could have done this better.
My experience with potato cannon technology tells me that they could've jerry rigged some PVC contraption to fire a light line over to Andy and slide over whatever food was needed.. When you're trapped behind a zombie death quarantine, you have plenty of time to correct your shots if you screw up twenty or thirty times.
Keep in mind that one character casually mentions the mall has a hardware store earlier in the plot - so take that into your deliberation. My experience is that simple hairspray (available in quantity in any American mall) was enough to propel a potato for hundreds of meters. I would think that a group of adults, with considerable time and the resources of an entire mall on their hands, would have figured this out.
Please tell me I'm wrong so I can continue to enjoy my favorite zombie movie. You get extra points if you've actually watched the movie and understand the problem better than my MS paint representation
So I just finished watching George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead for the first time and I must say, it was also really good! So before, I posted a review for my first viewing of the original Night of the Living Dead. Since I love zombies, I decided to watch all the films made by the creator of this concept himself, George A. Romero!
So just a quick story I want to get out the way, I've actually seen the remake first. In fact, for the longest time, I didn't even know there WAS an original! But along with that, Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead is not only my favourite zombie movie of all-time, it's literally one of my favourite horror movies overall. It was really that terrifyingly good! So today, I decided to finally check out the original, and sure enough, it was also really good! Also, I may compare the two.
One thing I really want to mention is that the gore in this film is REALLY good! Whenever a zombie bit someone, it actually looked like that person was getting bit. It was really horrifying to look at! However, the make-up on the zombies looked a little exaggerated with the blue on them. However, it did look convincing on a couple zombies, but not all of them.
Speaking of the zombies, one thing Snyder's zombies differed from Romero's was their speed. In Snyder's version, he reinvented zombies in a way that made them even MORE horrifying than the walking corpses - fast zombies. They could sprint and along with that, scream like hellish demons. These guys haunted me for MONTHS when I saw it for the first time. So when I saw this movie, I couldn't deny the fact that these slow zombies, while they CAN be creepy at times when they overwhelm and kill a survivor, were just not as intimidating and threatening as the zombies I saw in the remake. They were just so slow! I kept wondering, how on earth are these guys a threat to the military? Now I know - Romero is VERY against fast zombies. And he makes good points too, with actual walking corpses being too weak to actually run so at their fastest speed, can jog very slowly.
Let's talk about the action and the pacing. Compared to Night of the Living Dead, this movie improved a lot. The violence is a lot more gory and convincing, the action is fast-paced, etc.
There are also a lot less characters in the original than in the remake. The remake had about eight or more main characters, while the original only had four. This is not a bad thing though. I always find that in movies with too many characters, it can be

I have to say I was blown away by the story and drama, the fast zombies, the pacing while balancing out for a serious drama as well, all while it took place on a train in South Korea. Hollywood really needs to make a good successful serious zombie movie again cause imo World War Z doesn't count.
Carnegie Science Center is showing it tonight and tomorrow at 7pm.
This is going to be an amazing experience with one of my favorite movies!

So Iβve never made an enamel pin before, and Iβm super excited to get one created finally, as itβs been a goal of mine for a while. What I wanted to do though is gauge interest in the community, and see if anyone even wants this thing. I posted this design here a long time ago for a t-shirt, which ended up being a little pricey to produce, so this will be a little cheaper to get into your hands. If you're into that sort of thing. The design is (hopefully) clearly based off the poster art for George Romero's Dawn of the Dead from 1978.
Iβm thinking the price point would be $12, which would cover shipping in the US, and Iβd be willing to explore shipping international, but I know that would be more expensive. My current thought is this would be a 1β wide soft enamel pin with black dyed metal and butterfly clutch on the backside. I know some people love the rubber clutch, but to each their own.
Mods, I'm sorry if this is against policy, I couldn't find an FAQ or anything.
EDIT: Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm currently putting together some quotes from manufacturers, and can hopefully get something going soon. I've decided to do more than one pin, and will be starting this little endeavor off with 3-4 pins related to the horror genre, some original art, others are homages to movies. Currently I have an Evil Dead design completed, as well as an original VHS tape design. I'm trying to figure out how to do justice to something Day of the Dead related, so stay tuned. I will post the kickstarter when it's up and running, as long as that's not against the rules.
HI all
I grew up playing TONS of arcade games like Time Crisis and House of the Dead. I understand the era of this is dead. However I just learned today that the latest House of the Dead, Scarlet Dawn, was released just last year! This means so much to me as someone who has played all the previous ones especially number 1 and 2. I really, REALLY want to play this. Question is.....which arcade in Melbourne has this game? I know there is a timezone in eastland, werribee, forest hill, northland, and other ones named PlayTime in Crown, for example. But how do I know which of them has this game? Do I have to go arcade hunting in Melbourne, literally going to every single arcade place?
I have conquered Time crisis (beat them all, 1 to 5), now I must conquer House of the Dead also!
