[Hiring] True Crime Blog Writer

Hey, I have a small business and we are in need of a few writers for a True Crime Blog. I have successfully found a few great writer here, I am hoping I can find more.

The pay can be negotiated, I would need some samples of related work. Must be fluent in English and be able to wrote 1-2 articles a month (around 1500 words). It's still a start up and we might be able to pay more than $0.05 per word but I prefer to pay per project instead. It all depends on skill.

If you're comfortable dealing with such morbid type of content feel free to DM me. Chats will be ignored. Thanks.

Gomorrah won acclaim for its realism and inspiration from a writer who is still in hiding due to exposing organized crime in Italy. So who's idea was it to turn the final season into an action movie?

What happened here? First Ciro coming back, which I guess was Marco D'Amore pulling his connects in the Italian entertainment industry to get more work. I was willing to let that slide I guess, but then what was the rest of the season supposed to be about?

There was none of the realism, none of the commentary about how the Camorra ruthlessly crushes the lives of ordinary people in their quest for power. Instead, we got the same old stale mafia war plot we've seen in dozens of other gangster shows. Except if they were going to go that route, did they really have to stage everything like a John Woo movie? Like even if the poor parts of Naples are violent, I doubt it gets to this level because I'm sure it would be headlines all over the world, Italy on the verge of being declared a state in crisis, and the Italian military putting the whole region under martial law.

And everything else of course, like that nonsense with Ciro being locked up in a gulag and the characters just doing random things rather than having solid motivations. A pretty disappointing way to close out one of the gutsiest and best crime shows in recent memory.

Hiring True Crime podcast writers

Hello,

I own a podcast network consisting of about 15 different podcasts that are gaining upwards of 6-7 million monthly listeners. While we have shows in the comedic, science, influencer, and society/culture genres, our bread and butter seem to be in the true crime / history genres.

Our scope of work depends on experience and capabilities. We are looking to pay someone a monthly retainer to research and create a new podcast series (audio and video) in the true crime genre. For example: If your talents are strictly limited to writing, we'd be happy to hire a voice actor / handle audio + video recording. If you're capable of handling all of the production we'd be happier to discuss a higher rate. We're expecting to pay $25+/hr depending on your capabilities. We are also looking to offer small ownership of the show giving the writer and all parties involved residual payments depending on how lucrative the podcast is.

We need someone rather entrepreneurial as we don't provide a lot of creative guidance for our current shows; we more-so approve content that we think will attract and maintain an audience. Someone who can do independent research of an interesting true crime case and re-tell the story in a fantastic way! We are looking for someone to join us for the long term and continue to grow this show + create / manage additional writers/shows in the future. Please feel free to comment/DM with any questions, or send an email to me - Tommy@entwhynd.com

Once a writer is accepted, I will transfer a USD $ deposit, and transfer the remaining amount upon satisfactory completion of the work. I reserve the right to refuse the final work and cancel your remaining payment if the work is below our standard. I will do my best to communicate what the desired standard of work is, and will give you at least one try to fix the work based on actionable feedback.

Wicked Words: Interviews with Crime Writers

I really enjoyed the last Interview with Isha Sesay and wanted to recommend a single episode instead of my usual long form podcasts.

I only love investigative true crime with some kind of a social cause and meaning and this case about the abduction of 276 nigerian school girls is so worth reporting about and it's still ongoing and unsolved. I wish it would become an eight parter podcast, because the interview obviously just scratched the surface. And there needs to be some pressure and new attention to release the remaining school girls.

Sesay reports about the kidnapping of the 276 school girls in Nigeria since 2014. And over 100 of the now young women are still missing.

Isha Sesay stayed with the story over all the years and spent time with the girls that escaped, as well as with the families of the girls that are still unaccounted for.

She put her whole experiences into a book,Β Beneath the Tamarind Tree: A Story of Courage, Family, and the Lost Schoolgirls of Boko Haram.

Isha Sesay also launched an educational humanitarian nonprofit organization called W.E. (Women Everywhere) Can Lead, a non-profit organization working in her native country of Sierra Leone, to nurture and empower teenage girls to become Africa’s next generation of dynamic female leaders.

I hope her humanitarian work and project will be more successful than other projects with the "w name" through.

I Would love to have a whole interview about that and her take on it. So please, Isha Sesay do a long form podcast...

We certainly would listen to it..

I'm a method writer and act out all the characters I write. But now I'm writing a true crime and I'm facing 30 years for murder.

Basically when I write a character I'll pretend to be them for the day. I got some weird looks when I was writing a highschool romance but that's neither here nor there. Then I started to write about a murder mystery and I had to act out the murder. Now I'm facing up to 30 years.

Any advice for my writing endeavours in future?

REQUESTING: I am looking for films with specific aesthetics similar to The Best Offer (2013), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), The Ghost Writer (2010), Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989), and others mentioned in the post.

In search of films with similar interior design, clever story, intensity, good intense orchestrated score. Films with beautiful homes, culture, and mystique. I am struggling to find the vocabulary to describe more specifically, so I am sorry if this is too vague or poorly worded.

Examples:

  • The Best Offer (2013)
  • Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
  • The Ghost Writer (2010)
  • Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989)
  • Match Point (2005)
  • The Father (2020)
  • Red Dragon (2002)
  • Succession (show)
  • The Game (1997)
  • A Perfect Murder (1998)

I have seen all of the commonly suggested films such as Knives Out, Ready Or Not, and Clue.

Needs to be English language and set in modern-day (90's-now)

No sci-fi, period pieces, mafia/heist, western, biopics, super gory, war

Does not need to be the same themes or genre.

Please do not suggest films by the same directors as the movies I mentioned.

Thank you

crime/thriller about a reporter/writer who helps a father solve his daughters murder.

The book is written in the perspective of the reporter in one chapter, and (I believe? But maybe remembering incorrectly) that it alternates to the father or someone else's perspective every chapter. Starts out with the father who's daughter is currently missing hanging around either a news agency or a tabloid/magazine company asking people to help him find his daughter. The writer is a woman, she decides to help him for whatever reason, and they end up looking around skid row/other areas in los Angelos that the girl is known to frequent. The father mentions that she stays with her homeless (possibly drug addict if I'm remembering correctly) boyfriend in various abandoned buildings. They end up at an abandoned building that the couple is known to stay at, and they find her dead rolled in a carpet in the buildings basement. The reporters dad was a police officer or detective. The story is super long but eventually ends with her finding out that the girl was actually killed by/because of the mother of one of her friends, who was the wife of a rich/prominent community member.

Edit to add/ it was a visibly older paperback with a bright yellow background, and under the title was a small square with a picture of something like a woman crossing the street or running across a dark road? I swear the title had the word "street" in it or something similar.

How The pay is 1Β’/word and will be paid via PayPal or Venmo. Scripts should be around 1,000-1,500 words. Please only DM me with a sample. Thank you!!
