A list of puns related to "Concomitants"
"This discovery occurred soon after the end of WWI and the concomitant collapse of the Ottoman Empire."
I'm trying to find a word that means that two events were related and one was a factor in the other. I think concomitant sounds good in this sentence, but I want to make sure I'm using it correctly.
Thanks!
There are several examples in 23rd century Star Trek wherein a person's rank doesn't strictly reflect their role or seniority. For example Scotty becomes Captain but never actually takes command of a ship. Kirk is given one of the most senior positions in Starfleet (Chief of Ops) and is only a Rear Admiral. We also see Commodores commanding starships.
Curiously, in the latter 24th century there seems to be a move towards promoting somebody when they assume a particular role or duty vs it being a recognition or their career achievements, seniority or tenure. We first see this with La Forge. In Season One of TNG he is a Helmsman and Lt. (JG), a year later he becomes Chief Engineering Officer and is promoted to full Lt. - only to then receive another promotion to Lt. Commander the following year (of which he retains this rank for at least a further 12 years.)
Later in the series, Riker is given a promotion to Captain when Picard is considered a casualty and given command of the Enterprise. Yet, upon rescuing Picard ans returning command to him, he is demoted to Commander. Why would he give up his rank? Even though he is now equally ranked with Picard, he is still subordinate to him as Picard is CO (see Spock and Scotty vs Kirk.) There is no reason to demote him, especially after what he accomplished in that time.
Even later in the series, Troi takes the "Bridge Officer test" (presumably some kind of CPD that allows her - as a sciences officer - the ability to assume command and serve as an XO) and is just handed a promotion to Commander. This is in contrast to Data who remained a Lt. Commander for at least fifteen years...
In DS9, despite O'Brien mentioning that it makes no difference as to how a CO is referred if they aren't ranked Captain, Sisko still gets a promotion to Captain (shortly after he's given command of The Defiant) that he doesn't necessarily require based on his duties.
In VOY, Tom Paris is (intially) given a commission of Lt. JG to serve as helm officer (when Ensign could have sufficed.) Later he is temporarily demoted to Ensign, and then promoted back to Lt. JG. Is this because a helm officer must be a Lt. on VOY.
Perhaps what makes this theory most pertinent is that Picard is given a ridiculous promotion (skipping two whole Admiral grades to become a full Admiral) when he takes the role of overseeing the Romulan evacuation. Would he even require promotion, given the depth of things he has overseen and taken charge of prior as a Capt

Radical-mediated difunctionalization of alkenes provides a promising approach to introduce one alkenyl or alkynyl group to target compounds. However, simultaneous installation of two unsaturated C-C bonds via alkene difunctionalization remains elusive, attributable to the high instability and transient lifetimes of alkenyl and alkynyl radicals. Herein, we report the photocatalytic 1,2-alkynylalkenylation and 1,2-enynylalkenylation of alkenes for the first time, triggered by the intermolecular addition of a stabilized allenyl radical to an alkene. A portfolio of strategically designed, easily accessible dual-function reagents are applied to a radical docking-migration cascade. The protocol has broad substrate scope and efficiently increases the degree of unsaturation.

Been on Zoloft for a decade, Remeron for 2 years and Klonopin for around 5-10 years (last 5 every day). I am on day 4 of cold turkey antidepressant withdrawal (got bad serotonin syndrome from an antipsychotic a dr haphazardly prescribed me; I wasn't aware of serotonin syndrome risk with antipsychotics and ssris since I had never taken an antipsychotic before). The zoloft and remeron withdrawal is tolerable so far as my pdoc upped my klonopin to deal with the serotonin syndrome and withdrawals. I am physically dependent (not addicted, I dont get high or euphoric) on Klonopin but want to quit that too in a couple months. I know everyone tapers and I know that's hell but I'm weirdly an optimist and believe there has to be a non-dependency forming drug/supplement to counteract the klonopin withdrawal. I firmly believe that for me personally (everyone is different) the damage done by these 3 drugs has severely outweighed the benefits, especially over the past couple of years. I know it's unwise but I want to be 100% free of all meds and not dependent on anything. I know I can do it. It may involve major life changes (new career etc) or it may not. Either way I feel this is no way to go through life. I read all of the horror stories about people quitting benzos and I know this is likely my future. But at the same time Ive been reading up on drugs like Flumazenil and Phenobarbital that greatly reduce benzo withdrawal symptoms while simultaneously expediting the withdrawal time. I am optimistic that there are ways to combat benzo withdrawal to the point where it is minimal long-term (paws). I am constantly researching the best approaches and a clinic near where I live does a one week flumazenil benzo rapid withdrawal with mxed reviews. Back in the 80s & 90s people were admitted to the hospital for benzo withdrawal with from what Ive read phenobarbital being adminstered intravenously curbing withdrawal symptoms to almost nothing and no lingering phenobarbital dependence afterwards. I guess there really ist a question this rant but Id like to hear what worked and what didnt work for people. I'm a firm believer in modern science and believe there is an easier way out than years and years of paws. Any insights are appreciated and I thank u all in advance.
Hello everyone! I work in the managed care setting, where we primarily look at control substances for fraud, waste and abuse. I’ve been running into this situation a couple times where the provider wrote for both Suboxone and an opioid for the use of chronic pain. We reached out and one provider said ‘Suboxone + opioid= Nucynta.’ I’ve been trying to find any clinical guideline or study to learn more about this myself. If anyone has any knowledge or can link a study I’d really appreciate it!
After quadruple therapy, my breath test came back positive. I’m now 7 days in to what I have found to be called Concomitant therapy, which is amoxicillin, metronidazole, clarithromycin, and a PPI.
I was dreading doing antibiotics after the side effects of quadruple therapy were so rough, but the first 6 days, I felt pretty ok, tired, but what else is new. But today I’ve have a bad headache and lack of appetite and some of the just “off” feeling I had at the worst of quadruple therapy. Has anyone done this, and what were your side effects? Trying to gauge what the next week will be like, or if maybe what I’m feeling today is unrelated to the antibiotics. There isn’t as much literature/study on concomitant therapy.
