A list of puns related to "Coliform Bacteria"
From what I hear, some biohackers use peptides. Peptides are just chains of amino acid coded by dna or rna. We can heat shock dna and rna into bacteria to get them to express those genes. Theoretically, we could transform the bacteria in our microbiome so they produce peptides.
Does anyone know anybody that might have transformed coliform bacteria to express peptides and then done a fecal matter transplant with these bacteria?
Hello, I'm looking for some perspective on the results of a recent test of my well water.
56CFUs (coliform bacteria units) / 100ml
I know that in most places in the world, the safe limit is regarded as 0. But this means that I have no idea of the severity of my result.
How bad is it? Like toilet water bad? Or bad but not shocking? Any advice that could give me perspective would be very helpful! Thanks in advance.
Iβm having a hard time finding a straight answer about this. We donβt drink this water, but I bought a test kit mainly to make sure there was nothing super scary in it since I water my vegetables from it. Everything came back ok except itβs positive for coliform bacteria. Is it unsafe?
We are in the process of purchasing an existing home. During inspection, the water test turned up Coliform. House has drilled well with a water softener and some kind of chlorinator installed currently.
A UV Filter seems to be the best answer. Our agent asked the seller to consider putting one in, but in this beyond crazy real estate market (Hudson Valley NY) we are not optimistic.
What would be the best way to find a company to supply and install a filter? Any alternatives we should consider? What is the general range we should expect to pay?
Update. The seller has not used this house since March and the feeling was the presence of Coliform could be due to no use of the system. They have agreed to flush the system shock the well, then retest. If anything shows up again, they will install a UV filleted at their expense.
Hi there.
I am a young and new wwtp operator, sorry if I miss information that u need, also sorry for my english grammar not a native speaker.
I work in a small plant of a military camp where we run an Activated Sludge(130m3) and SBR plant(180m3), which both combine to be discharged in the Chlorine Tank and after that to the final effluent.
In the Chlorine tank which is 8m3 we use Sodium Hypochlorite to disinfect the water.
To successfully remove the Coliform Bacteriaβs we need to keep Chlorine between 1-1.5mg/l. The problem is that by the new laws the Chlorine should be below 0.2mg/l.
So.. what a guy who worked in many plants have suggested is that we build another Disinfection Tank but with 50m3 capacity, in that way the chlorine has a longer contact time with the water before it will be discharged.
What u guys think will it work? If not why? Are there any better solutions to take off the Coliform Bacteria but keeping the Chlorine below 0.2mg/l?
Don't drink tap water on your next flight! E. coli, Coliform Bacteria & more was found in the tap water on 11 commercial carriers & 12 regional carriers in a Hunter College studyπ·
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 58%. (I'm a bot)

I thought it has to do with optimal temperature for the enzymes that the organisms produce, but my professor says there are other reasons too.
