A list of puns related to "Canada Border Services Agency"
I wanted to buy a knife for box/package/letter opening and the dollar store knife was not sharp enough. So I went to aliexpress and bought a $6 karambit for its cool design. (Oct 26)
On Dec 12 I opened a dispute in aliexpress because the karambit knife package stopped updating a month ago and it never arrived.
Today I received a Notice of Seizure from the Canada Border Services Agency Office saying the karambit was seized by them on Nov 16. (Seriously it's a cheap knife like a toy and these stupid people seize it like I could kill someone with it lol)
The notice also said I'm allowed to file a request for a decision of the Minister in writing but doesn't tell me how and to where, there is not even a phone number. At this point I don't really care about the knife, the border office can have it to open their boxes and letters, but am I liable for forfeiting it? I don't want to get another letter saying that they have kept my knife for 6 months and demand me to pay them money for keeping it.
Edited date, Oct 26 not Nov 26 haha
Iβve had SIN compromised and the βcopsβ coming to arrest me many times, but this one was new. Apparently a package with my name contained illegal merchandise. I really should have pressed 1 to get more infoβ¦β¦
Is there truly nothing that can be done about these calls? My concern is for immigrants and older people and anyone who may be a little gullible - why canβt someone put a stop to these asshats?
Received a phone call with an automated message claiming to be from the CBSA. This is a new one for me but followed basically the same pattern as the CRA scam so I rolled with it.
The message indicated that a package for me had arrived at the US/Canada border that contained illegal goods and a warrant had been issued for my arrest. Press '1' to speak to a person.
So here's where it broke down and I got confused - I pressed 1, got connected right away to somebody most likely in a foreign call centre, and when I asked why they called me he argued and said "You called me! You were transferred to my line!"
I told him (continuing to play dumb to see where this went) that I'd been called about an illegal package received at the border and that I pressed 1 to speak to someone about it and he was still belligerent and confused like he didn't know why I was calling.
So bored with the call I dumped the charade and told him "If you're going to scam people you really need to get your shit together. This is pathetic. Enjoy my cocaine {followed by some choice names for him}"
I know scams often (typically?) fall short on language, spelling, grammar, etc. so as to only capture the people who are, say, less than keen but is this designed to be so difficult it only catches people who get seriously paranoid and terrified by the initial message that they'll just continue pushing through?
I had a bad run-in with the CBSA, hope if there is any fellow Canadian here who can help.
I had two of my benchmades sent out for service in the US, and they were seized by the CBSA on their way back to Canada. They have been in customs since July 5th, and I just got a letter from CBSA saying that they are considered "centrifugal knives" and thus prohibited.
The knives in question are an 890 (spring assisted) and a 940 (manual action axis lock), which neither should fit the description of prohibited weapons under section 84 (1) of the Canadian Criminal Code ("a knife that has a blade that opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in or attached to the handle of the knife"). Both knives are still (or at one time, 890 is discontinued) being sold in Canada. Benchmade even advised me that they will tighten the pivot screws to the point where the knives cannot be opened. Therefore, I don't see how they can come to this conclusion.
The letter I got says I can appeal the decision within 90 days. These two knives hold great sentimental value to me, so I plan to fight this decision to the bitter end. I'm asking here to see if anyone has similar experiences and would share some insights. What are my chances of fighting this unjust decision? What about getting a lawyer involved? I know there was a gofundme campaign about CBSA's bad faith practices regarding folding knives, but it seems to have lost steams and doesn't have any update since 2019. If anyone can point me to any legal resources that will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
My package was sent to the Mississauga customs for review on April 19th and hasn't moved since. Should I call CBSA?
Hello,

I have an inbound mail from Hong Kong, but the latest tracking says "Item has been presented to Canada Border Services Agency for customs review." with an exclamation mark.
Does this mean it will be opened and inspected?
Thanks.
Should I be worried? I ordered a DAC from Schiit, a company based in the USA/California. And it is presented to Canada Border Services Agency for customs review for a second time.

EDIT: Now I have this:

International item released from Customs for processing by Canada Post
Mississauga, ON
I would like to pay Customs fees online, but i don't know how? I did not get the mail with updates or instructions on how much and how to pay customs fees online??
I sent an item that was very well packaged: lots of bubble wrap around the item and kraft packing paper to make sure nothing shook around. I even had it double boxed to ensure the item was still well protected if anything happened to the outer box.
The parcel arrived with a huge yellow tape saying that it had been opened by the Canada Border Service Agency. The outer box was not damaged at all, but the item inside was crushed with very noticeable damage. It was obvious that CBSA opened it, removed all the packaging to inspect the item, then carelessly threw everything back in without regard to how it was originally packaged.
Unfortunately both myself and the recipient arenβt experienced in dealing with this, so they just took a few photos documenting the damage and threw away the packaging.
Is this something that can be claimed? The item isnβt worth a lot (around $30 CAD) but the shipping was double the value of the item and that just really sucks.
