A list of puns related to "British Folk Music"
This is ridiculously specific, but if I like instrument arrangements similar in vibe to the following, WEWIL?
the saxophone parts in Nick Drake "At The Chime Of A City Clock", Pink Floyd "Us And Them", King Crimson "Starless";
the two harmonised flutes of Jethro Tull "Reasons For Waiting", King Crimson "I Talk To The Wind";
the string arrangements of Nick Drake "River Man", Radiohead "Pyramid Song";
the jazz piano arrangements of Nick Drake "Northern Sky" and Pink Floyd "Us And Them".
Doesn't have to be the same genre; it's more the mood/texture I'm craving more of. Thanks!
Singers I love:
Anne Briggs
Sandy Denny
Jacqui McShee
Mary O'Hara
AnΓΊna
The Unthanks
Radie Peat
Moya Brennan
Shirley Collins
Lisa Knapp
Nancy Kerr
Eliza Carthy
Lal Waterson
Norma Waterson
June Tabor
Maddy Prior
Kate Rusby
SinΓ©ad O'Connor
Jean Ritchie
Loreena McKennitt
Joan Baez
Peggy Seeger
I'm not really into Enya or Celtic Woman as I find their music a bit overproduced.
Thank you.
Iβve seen quite a few posts in which British people seem to be genuinely enraged by the way Americans pronounce certain words (aluminum, most recently). Over here, when we hear a British pronunciation we generally react βhow interesting/different/odd/cuteβ but never the visceral βmakes me want to rip my ears offβ reaction Iβve often seen on reddit. So, it is really that painful for you or is it just a bunch of loud redditors?
Weβre looking to expand our railway modeling adventures overseas, most likely in the form of a small switching layout on a shelf and most likely in N gauge (though OO is also temping), and we wondered a whole bunch of things, but one question continued to occupy our thoughts more than others.
The question is this: What company or companies make consistently good products, and what companies should we avoid like the plague?
We know motive power and rolling stock are but one piece in the model railway puzzle, but they are a rather expensive piece of the puzzle even before shipping internationally.
Share your thoughts or criticisms on both or either as well.
started listening to British folk music recently, and sadly I believe I already listened to all the good ones...
Already know Steeleye Span\Trees\Pentangle\Fairport, all the solo works from this bands members, and pretty much every psych-acid folk band. any other suggestions? thanks.
