A list of puns related to "Avunculate Marriage"
Doing some sleuthing in the family history, turns out my great great grandmother was the product of incest; her parents being uncle/niece. There seemed to have been a lot of drama pertaining to that part of the family, so trying to piece together what might have been going on. The uncle/niece couple were from a well off Spanish-Panamanian family both born in Panama; seems that by the time my great great grandmother was born the family was living in Costa Rica.
I am changing names for privacy reasons.
I discovered the following relationships in my family tree, which have been verified.
Rachel and Carol are sisters. Rachel had a son named Cody. Carol married Cody (her nephew) and had children with him.
Their father Cody is their father and their 1st cousin, right? (Since your mother's nephew = your 1st cousin). Their mother Carol is their mother and their great-aunt (your father's aunt is your great-aunt). Their grandmother Rachel is also their aunt (their mother's sister). Their great-grandparents (Rachel and Carol's parents) are also their grandparents (their mom's parents). The father Cody is his own uncle.
What about their kids? How else are they related other than siblings? Are they their own aunt's/uncles?
I believe Carol and Cody share about 25% of their DNA. How much DNA would they share with each other, their parents, and their grandparents?
Thank you for the help!
Looking at the Jon-Dany relationship got me thinking. What is the status of aunt/nephew and uncle-niece relationships in Westeros for anyone who isn't named Targaryen?
Is if normalised like a marriage between cousins, or is it viewed in the same tone as incest between siblings?
Of course in real history there have been many such relationships, but I can't think of any example within the story. The closest I came with are
Arianne fantasizes about Oberyn, but cringes when she thinks about it.
When Victarion thinks Asha is proposing to him, he is aroused, but he objects, though the objection seems to be based more on morality than legality.
Alys Karstark calls Cregan "Uncle", but he is actually her first cousin once removed.
According to Wikipedia, 'avunculate marriage' is marriage between an uncle and a niece or between an aunt and a nephew. We have some cases of this kind of marriage from the series and Awoiaf.
Jonnel Stark & Sansa Stark. Half uncle and niece.
Edric Stark & Serena Stark. Alos half uncle and niece.
Jocelyn Baratheon(daughter of Alyssa Velaryon) & Aemon Targaryen(son of Jaehaerys, grandson of Alyssa Velaryon). Half aunt and nephew.
Daemon Targaryen & Rhaenyra Targaryen. Uncle and niece.
And Damphair thought that the union between Asha and Victarion would've won people over at the Kingsmoot. This is implying avunculate marriage is legal and acceptable in the iron islands. So
And Arianne fantasized about Oberyn but never said a word about marriage so i guess that doesn't count.
The point is, apart from Targs, only two Houses seem tolerable about this kind of marriage as far as we know and they both don't believe the Seven. Is this a coincidence? Do you guys think outside the north and the iron islands where the Seven is dominating avuculate marriage is considered incest therefore illegal? If Dany marries one of her nephews, will that union considered incest or not? Do you guys think believers of the Seven will detest this marriage so Dany and her nephew-husband would act like 'so what we're targs deal with it' or they don't have to because it's not considered incest even in the eyes of the Seven(assuming their marriage won't be a problem for northerners and ironborns as history states)?
Canonwise, the only form of incest that the Targaryens commit is sibling-marriage. They shouldn't be able to marry their own offsprings/descendants/parents/granparents/ancestors like in the CK2 version of this mod.
This morning as I normally do, I was thinking about Targaryen marriage practice, and decided to create a list of all Targaryen marriages, starting from Aerion and Valaena, parents of Aegon and his sisters. I used this tree. I was surprised to find out that 40, or more than half of all Targaryen individuals were engaged in a non-incestual marriage, being married to a first cousin or further relation (or no relation).
Only 12 marriages are incestuous, with 22 individuals being married to their sibling. One was annulled (looking at you, Baelor and Daena (sidenote, why was Daena not married to Daeron, and Baelor to Rhaena??)), bringing the total to 20 individuals.
There are a 6 Targaryen individuals part of an avunculate marriage, being married to their parents' sibling. It seems that the Faith of the Seven consider this incest, but the Old Gods don't, with Sansa and Serena Stark being married to their half-uncles with no apparent problems. It's possible the Rhoynar are fine with avunculate marriage, as Arianne fantasises about Oberyn, though she does repress it. If the Targaryen avunculate marriages are included, that brings the number of Targaryens in incestual marriages to 27, compared to 40 non-incestual relations.
Some other interesting facts: of all Targaryens, 28 married another Targaryen, 7 a Velaryon, 3 a Hightower, 3 an Arryn, and 3 a Martell. See the data here.

Appearance: A burly youth, barrel-chested and broad, standing 6'2 and weighing 15 stone. Black eyed and black haired, he bears the mark that many Sistermen possess, distinctive webbing between his fingers. His neck, wrists, and fingers are always decorated with jewelry far too fine and exotic for any honest Sisterman to afford.

Starting Location: King's Landing
Alternate Characters: Tywin Lannett
Biography:
Born 382AC in Breakwater Castle as the second born son to Lord Caspor Borrell and Lady Elaena Borrell. It would not be an understatement to say that Lord Caspor Borrell was called by mainlanders 'the most horrible thing to come out of the Bite since Sistermen themselves', and Lady Elaena his niece, the only child born of his older brother, Lord Denys.
Lord Caspor was known to have a black reputation even by Sistermen's standards. Turning off the Night Lamp on stormy nights to wreck ships bound for White Harbor was not nearly enough for him. The most terrible rumors followed the old lord all his life, like moths to a flame. Leading the rejuvenation of piracy on the Sisters before he even became Lord was one. Monstrous rule, unchecked avarice, the cruelest, most capricious punishments for any infractions of his law were others. Even the charge of kinslaying his just brother to make himself Sweetsister's robber lord. But unquestionably the foulest rumor of them all being that it was he who sired Lord Denys' lone daughter, making his already avunculate marriage into an even greater crime in the eyes of the Seven.
Yet like most rumors, they go unproven. The Arryns of the Vale certainly never thought enough of them to see any kinds of discipline handed down to their vassal. Northern propaganda for a certainty. Yet word spread fast and far enough for Erw

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
