Disclaimer: I have not played the original so all my thoughts are on this game alone and not how it compares to the original. Now let's get on to the post.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake's strengths are so unbelievably strong that it makes up for some of the more lackluster parts. I think the gameplay, characters and soundtrack truly elevate this game to a very high level.
The soundtrack is just ecstatic, I don't know what else to say other than it has a perfect soundtrack for all different kinds of moods, for quiet scenes, tense scenes and fight scenes.
The combat is absolutely exhilarating, I found myself wanting to do everything just to get the chance to fight more monsters and enemies since it was so much fun. When you start understanding how the combat system truly works, switching characters and using skills it's when the game truly shines and is one of the best combat systems in any action RPG I've played, the only thing that is annoying is that the enemies' stagger bar resets between phases which makes you feel like all the work you did was for nothing, but when the gameplay starts again you forget about it because it's so good. All the characters being as well fleshed out to play and having so many customisation options just added so much to the gameplay. Some bosses are straight up on the level of PlatinumGames, that's how exciting I found them to be. At the height of gameplay I found myself switching constantly between party members, performing an action which consumes the ATB gauge and then switching over to another member to perform the same, incapacitating the boss and then moving in to perform other actions on the staggered boss to deplete the health bar very quickly. Those were some euphoric moments in the game. Also the final boss is one of the most impressive I have played recently, that's all I'll say. The mini games also add some very much appreciated variety to the game, but getting gold on some of them took a bit too much time to accomplish, but they were enjoyable nonetheless.
Also the character moments in this game are just astoundingly well realised, my personal favorite was Barrett, he started out as being so unlikeable, and never did I expect for him to become so likeable at the end and have me rooting for him. The voice acting is also as good as it gets in the industry.

I have been spending some time doing research on more effective ways to fly with ships such as the Sabre, Super Hornet and Vanguard Warden.
I have also recently tried to perform more decoupled flying to get a better feel for it. It may sound silly but I don't notice the difference in regards to it being easier to strafe or get around targets.
I would also appreciate any advice you have regarding methods that you found worked or are still working to this day as I feel like I could be doing more than just trying to strafe for my life and keep on target.

Aliens come to Earth check up on whales that they lost contact and while on the way they lock down any form of technology that they run into. The Trek crew go back in time to find the whales and bring them back to save the day.
With that premises, I love how people dig at TMP's "TV episode into a movie" story but in my opinion, TMP's story can be interpreted to be deeper than TVH's rather dated 'save the whales'.
Star Trek IV is a decent/good/great movie in spite of its plot, not because of it.
