A list of puns related to "Antonin Artaud"
I just picked up Artaud's Watchfiends & Rack Screams β a biography and collection of poems from Antonin Artaud. It is brilliant and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Artaud entirely encapsulates the sort of schizophrenic production of Anti-Oedipus.
For those unaware, D&G's "body without organs" is a term gathered from one of Artaud's works. Artaud had psychosis and was institutionalized throughout his life, yet maintained a style of creation based upon multiplicity and nonconformity. Never has poetry offered me such excitement and satisfaction, especially having it philosophically-contextualized throughout Anti-Oedipus.
Does he die of cancer like in OTL? Is he sledgehammered by the Nazis? I honestly wonder this.
Hi guys, I'm not totally sure if this is the correct place to ask this question but I'm gonna give it a shot. I have been reading about Artaud for a little bit and have heard a few references to people reading proto-fascism/fascism in his philosophy on theatre. Without reading through a thousand university papers (I don't think I'm invested enough to bother haha), could anyone explain how someone's drawing this conclusion? My (lacking) understanding of analysis in this realm makes me think that I might not be reading far enough into his points but at the same time that makes me think that the people who pose this idea might be delving way further into an idea than is necessary, especially when it seems to be pretty common knowledge that Artaud was not a political person. I don't know if I'm making any sense or if this is the right place for this discussion, and if it's not I apologise. Anyway, thanks for reading!
TL;DR
What is it about Artaud that suggests fascism?
I know this likely a bit of a broad question because this could depend on which nation you play, but what Iβm specifically asking for is if anyone has seen an event, Super event, newspaper event, etc. that describes what happens to Artaud if AG or Letat Irreel France were to fall to another power, and I mean ANYTHING.
I ask because I want to know if successfully defeating Artaud has some sort of satisfying ending, or at least some kind of ending, to what ultimately happens to Artaud and France post war and not just getting a post peace deal message about what states are annexed/puppeted.
I think it would be interesting if Artaud's death sparks a period of national crisis in which the Government of France desperately tries to stay together before a civil war breaks out between the pretenders for who will become Le Patron.
This is a slightly odd request for information so please bear with me.
In 1937 a brilliant and mentally disturbed surrealist artist named Antonin Artaud visited Ireland with the purpose of returning to the country a walking stick which he considered (incorrectly) to be the lost staff of St. Patrick/Jesus/Lucifer. After travelling to Aran Islands and Galway city he ended up in a Jesuit community in Dublin at Milltown Park, specifically. He was quite unwelcome there and was forcibly removed in September of 1937 and sent to prison before his deportation. In the process his walking stick was lost, although later demands to have Artaudβs personal effects returned to France prompted the response by Irish authorities that no such walking stick was found in Milltown Park or Dublin in general.
Is there some historical society or art society in Dublin, Aran Islands, or Galway City that would have documents or resources pertaining to this event? Does anyone in this sub have knowledge of this event? I am an art history enthusiast and will be in Ireland this fall. I would love to do research and/or interview people who have any knowledge of Artaudβs time in the country.
Thanks!
Black Poet
Black poet haunted by a maidens breast, embittered poet, life is boiling and the town is burning, and the sky is reabsorbed as rain, your pen scratches at the heart of life.
Forest, Forest, eyes are swarming On the multiple pinions; Stormy hair, the poets Climb onto horses, dogs Their eyes rage, their tongues turn The sky flows into their nostrils Like a nutritious blue milk I am hanging on your mouths women, hard vinegar hearts.
I just can't seem to get my head around this one. Artaud is a surrealist writer and most of his work I can depict but this one goes right over my head. Any ideas?
Hello my fellow humans, right now I am planning great things inspired by the ideas of Antonin Artaud, and right now I am struggling with one of his poems and I do not know where should I ask for help, (if this isn't the right subreddit, please tell me, I'll remove it right away) the poem is called "from the nerve matter" This is the link to the poem:

It's not something overly out of this world difficult, (probably some of you may find it quite simple I believe) I understand his self doubt, questioning his existence, the absurd.
But I cannot fully understand this poem, maybe it's my lack of English language, but I read it and still fall short of the core, so if any of you would have the time to glance over this poem, and share your thoughts on it, it would help me dearly!
