Tincture of Opium is available by prescription in the United States. It is regulated as a Schedule II drug (No. 9639) under the Controlled Substances Act.
In the United States, opium tincture is marketed and distributed by several pharmaceutical firms, each producing a single formulation of the drug, which is deodorized. Each mL contains 10 mg of anhydrous morphine (the equivalent of 100 mg of powdered opium), other opium alkaloids (except noscapine), and ethanol, 19%. It is available packaged in bottles of four US fluid ounces (118Β mL) and 16 US fluid ounces (1Β USΒ pt; 473Β mL).
Tincture of Opium is known as one of many "unapproved drugs" regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); the marketing and distribution of opium tincture prevails today only because opium tincture was sold prior to the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act of 1938.Its "grandfathered" status protects opium tincture from being required to undergo strict FDA drug reviews and subsequent approval processes. However, the FDA closely monitors the labeling of opium tincture. Bottles of opium tincture are required by the FDA to bear a bright red "POISON" label given the potency of the drug and the potential for overdose (see discussion about confusion with Paregoric below). Additionally, in a warning letter to a manufacturer of opium tincture in late 2009, the FDA noted that "we found that your firm is manufacturing and distributing the prescription drug Opium Tincture USP (Deodorized β 10 mg/mL). Based on our information, there are no FDA-approved applications on file for this drug product.- Wikipedia entry on US law for Laudanum
So I just thought that was really cool and thought I would share it with everyone, I was blown away when I first read about it, honestly I figured that it would be one of those things that is rarely prescribed, but from a couple of google searches it seems like its used quite a bit, Well just figured I would share something cool I learned today. Hope it was somewhat interesting to you as it was to me, hope you have a wonderful day!!! :) I am linking to the wiki page down here, it is quite long but really worth the read. Even if you have quite extensive knowledge of opiates.
*Potential spoilers below*
At one point in the fort you come across the medical supplies, and there's a vial of laudanum. In TDD you had to actually manage your health quite a bit but does the laudanum do anything in Rebirth? I never used it because of the flyer that you read saying that it's dangerous for pregnant women lol.
Looking for a PC game in a house with different levels. By elimination and clues, you place suspects, weapons and motive (etc) in their respective rooms. Weapons included laudanum, rat poison, noose, dagger, etc. Please help!
I have some questions about the public opinion and stigma surrounding opium use in Victorian England.
I'm under the impression that there was a significant stigma around it. (Though I did hear that it was downgraded from a 'vice' to a 'questionable habit' if you were wealthy.)
But laudanum has opium in it, so how come there wasn't a stigma around laudanum? I don't think it was any secret.
How come the Victorians seemed to know that opium was unhealthy and addictive, and yet the moment they think to mix it with alcohol and sell it without prescription for everything from menstrual cramps to teething pains, they think it's a good idea?
What is this disconnect?
TL;DR i need starvelling cats for smen please help
I'm at the point in seeking the name where i stain my soul, and i definitely don't have enough brilliant souls to get all the cats i need. Is anyone willing to help a grand fool commit horrible crimes on himself, on others, and the skin of the sky itself? My curiousity is hungry and charred
Edit: thank you guys for your help with this unholy errand, i need no more cats, at least for now.
THE STOIC OPPOSITIONΒ presents LAUDANUM - a Delirium adventureβ Itch.io
THE STORY One day a young woman wakes up to realize that his father is missing. As she founds out, his father contracted the plague and was transported to the local hospital, while she must remain in a quarantine. Avoiding soldiers, the girl sets out to go to the hospital, to his father. This very short, but relatable story provides the backbone forΒ LAUDANUM - a Delirium adventure.
THE LOCATIONS LAUDANUMΒ takes place in 3 main locations (a farm, a valley and a hospital) and several smaller ones, but gameplay- and storywise the game can be separated into 5 parts or acts, each with a clear objective and each filled with harder and more complex puzzles.
BASED ON REALITY LAUDANUMΒ is based on real history and real locations. Although in a fantasy setting, the game reimagines the plague outbreak in the 18th century in the Kingdom of Hungary, when leaving quarantine resulted in a death sentence. Leave 2020 for a little and see how we can imagine a similar situation in a different time. Based on a small region, where the hospital for infected people was located in a small valley, the player must figure their way through several locations to get to the father.
THE INSPIRATION LAUDANUMΒ is inspired by the classic point and click adventure games of the nineties, mainly by the likes of Monkey Island or the Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, the game is a full-on adventure game complete with a verb list. Forget the keyboard and rely on mouse as you interact deeply with the objects in the game to solve puzzles and get to your father. See a chest? Examine it, move it, open it, you decide. The various opportunities for interaction provide deep experience and rich puzzles. Following the tips of Ron Gilbert, creator of Maniac Mansion and the first two Monkey Island games, every puzzle and dialogue tree is designed with great care to find balance in this game.
THE FUTURE LAUDANUM - a Delirium adventureΒ takes place in the universe of my planned bigger game, Delirium, serving as a kind of experiment as to how one can implement adventure game elements in a game made with RPG Maker.

Anyone have any experience making laudanum or opium tincture? Any recipes?
Never tried it , and im curios about the effects . I saw that in some movies , for example " From Hell" ,it seems that opium tincture made the protagonist think better and somehow forsee future events . Is this a side effect of laudanum ? I know its a movie and probably the director made it more fancy by boosting a character thinking skills after he took laudanum . Im just curios in the end how laudanum feels and if someone from this sub tried it.
Is anyone making there own laudanum or tincture with poppies (not just boiling up plant matter for a tea) and if so what recipe and results are they getting? I see a lot.of people talking about doing it online but not what the resulting high is like or comparable to. Any chat would be greatly appreciated.
I can carry only 3 bottles of laudanum per inventory slot.
Also, I can only buy 3 bottles of laudanum for Short/Medium length dungeons.
I can buy 6 bottles of laudanum for Long length dungeons but it would take two inventory slots to carry the 6 bottles.
This is a lame bug. Anyone that can help me out?
I already tried verifying game files, but it didn't work out for me.
Following my own experiments - knowing / remembering the effects eaten and smoked opium had on me - I came to following mixture:
My personal pharma opium replacement: mix 400mg of morphine hcl with 120mg of dihydrocodeine hcl (more if you only have codeine) and 50mg of hydromorphone hcl. If your pharma opiates are extended release formula, add hot water and some 70% alcohol to the mixture and let it cool down over night. In the morning you'll have a gooey paste ready for oral consumption. If you want old-school laudanum: heat the mixture up again, get rid of the gooey extended release leftovers by filtration and add some more alcohol until you reach a ml-solution that fits your needs. My experiences with this combo have been very satisfying so far, but what I'm doing here is not even kitchen chemistry. If you guys have better solutions for an opium like tincture, tell me :)
First off, I duplicated treasure bags cause queen bee in revengeance sucks. I also have no clue how to take a screenshot in Terraria. So anyways, after about 200 treasure bags, 5+ hearts of darkness, 5+ stress pills, and 4653 Bees Wax, I still can't get laudanum. I understand it's early for Draedon's Heart but, I like preparing as much as possible early as possible.
If you ever wanted to play a game with the trashy humor of the 90s in an mmorpg jacket, you should help Lord of Laudanum get funded on kickstarter.
Lord of Laudanum is an old school type of MMORPG for Windows and Linux PCs with graphics inspired by Minecraft, Trove & Cube World. Weβre throwing character levels out the window and focus on skill based progression, giving you the freedom to build your character the way you want.
Thank you for taking a look at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/phuntecstudio/lord-of-laudanum
In the main story line you will relive the history of Opium, where it all started and how it eventually evolved into Laudanum. The game will explore the limits of decency with a wink of dark humor.
