I got a script of dilaudid

I'm not abusing them I'm 4 years sober from other drugs this is for actual pain. I got 20 1mg pills. I'm scared that taking one everyday will lead to withdrawal when I do not have them. Is that possible? Or will I be okay since it's a small amount dose wise and pill wise. And is it okay to take 2 if one isn't working? Thanks in advance everyone. I don't like substances anymore and I just don't wanna risk getting dependent or experiecing withdrawal.

Dilaudid

Hey guys, got some script 4mg hydromorphone. I'm a seasoned dude but my gf wants to try it and hasn't done any painkillers before. She's about 5'3 and 140lbs. I was thinking she could try maybe a quarter pill n see how that works? What do you guys think I don't want her to have to much ya know

UPDATE: thanks everyone for your advice and concerns, she made the decision she didn't want to take my medication because I need it for severe chronic pain. She's a great woman and I appreciate all of you! Thank you for the input, advice, and concern for her safety it makes me happy to hear it.

Why is dilaudid even prescribed orally?

The bioavailability is so low It literally does fuck all when taken orally unless you took like 12-16mg minimum with no tolerance, at least that’s pretty much how it’s been in my experience.

However as soon as you snort these bastards 8mg hydromorphone starts to be comparable to 15mg ish oxy for me and feels quite blissful and euphoric when 16mg is snorted.

I know IV dilaudid is a whole other level basically like shooting heroin, if not better.

I do know it’s used intravenously in hospital settings, which makes sense. However I do not really understand why they prescribe it in oral tablets.

My grandmother recently used to be prescribed 4mg hydromorphone daily in the form of two 2mg tablets a day or so. Then she was switched to only one 2mg tablet a day. Either way both dosages do not provide her any pain relief whatsoever for her. It’s difficult for her to be honest about her pain with doctors.

I just really don’t understand why dilaudid is prescribed so frequently as an oral tablet for pain relief, it still has high abuse potential like oxy, hydrocodone, morphine etc.

Have my father an 8mg Dilaudid.

My dad has throat cancer and he's been struggling with the radiation part. He finished two months ago but he says his throat is still so sore and raw. We just found out this last week after his P.E.T scan that the cancer hasn't subsided and is coming back. So they are at a stand still right now. He hasn't been prescribed any strong medication for his pain, he's been taking anywhere from 5-15 advil a day. So as a frequent user of Dilaudids I got him one. Broke it into 4 pieces and told him to take one a day and see if it helps. I was scared honestly to give it to him. Not wanting him to know I can get some or even think of me doing them. Anyways just thought I'd share.

80 year old dad prescribed dilaudid -- is 4mg pills every few hour enough to cause nods/confusion/not thinking clearly?

Wondering what you guys think, he has had back surgery about 3 months ago that didn't go well so now for his pain (I guess it's an ongoing prescription) gotten 4mg dilaudids every 4-6 hours and I believe he's taking it as prescribed and not multi dosing. Before bed at the end of the night about 2 hours after hes taken his dose he's starting to act very slow and sluggish and sometimes saying things that don't fully make sense and not comprehending things. He was on 5mg vics before this and didn't have this issue. Wondering what peoples input is on how normal this is / whether or not it could be some other issue. It's happened for a few nights in a row and we thought it might be a mini stroke at first but after he wakes up in the morning he seems normal again. He also takes flexeril and beta blockers but ostensibly there wouldn't be any major contradiction since all of this was prescribed, but maybe those would enhance the effect. He doesn't have parkinsons or dementia and has seen a neurologist a few months prior this back surgery and has never done this before.

Dilaudid & pregabalin interactions and reactions

So I just got out of the surgery a few weeks ago doctors have me on Dilaudid (hydromorphone 1mg &3mg)as needed and pregabalin 100 mg x3 daily. It's for a hand amputation but I feel that every time I take the pregabalin I get more sensitive and it causes a weird firing nerve pain to happen I've asked my doctor about it and his reply is to keep taking it because it's going to stop that nerve pain or cut off that nerve communication I don't know much about these two drugs wondering if anybody here could enlighten me as to why it feels like that.

switching ROA for dilaudid?

hi this question is pretty naive…

i have been nursing a decent dilaudid habit for around 6 months (up to 80mg a day and a week or so clean in between months). i did an intentional taper and am now just using to stay well… (8 to 24 mg a day). i’ve been sniffing it for this whole time but my sinuses are getting fucked and i do want to get clean sooner or later. long story short, i know the bioavailability for oral ROA is absolutely horrible but dillys are so cheap where i live and i am so over sniffing and definitely don’t want to IV. so basically how many would i need to take to start feeling anything?
