I mean really, can't they include rudimentary level voice assistance without the internet? I can't even turn off my lights now because xfinity is down. Hell, Alexa can't even do simple math "3+3", type stuff. Obviously if each device had its own translation system in it and limited capabilities to work without the server, then it would reduce the load on their servers overall. I also couldn't do jack squat while the Amazon servers were down the other day for several hours.

... keep reading on reddit ➡Title basically. Can either of those devices control ZigBee devices, light bulbs only, without an active internet connection only a local wifi connection?? Recently we lost power in a storm and it also knocked out Comcast, when power was restored Comcast was still out so we couldn't control our bulbs (non-hub controlled, wifi smart bulbs by Merkury), so it was a pain to have to readd our 10 bulbs when Comcast was restored.
I recently got a new WIFI box and so a new password, i followed the steps on the Alexa app which were:
- Hold the dot until it enters setup mode
- Turn Bluetooth on in my phone
- Find the device
- Enter WiFi password
I went through all those steps and just after it connected Alexa said "I'm having an error and will need to reset" it restarted itself and said "I'm having t CDCrouble connecting to the internet" i tried to enter set-up mode but same message (set-up mode supposed to work offline). I restarted my router and still the same issue.
I checked the Alexa help and support app but nothing of use.
If someone could help me I'd be grateful.
The moment I disabled sidewalk (I have two echo's, a clock and a Portal) the Alexa App on my iPhone SE complains that it cannot connect to the Internet. Which is dumb because all the other apps can.
I even deleted and re-installed the app (which requires the internet BTW) and it's still complaining. Although I'm on WiFi, I also checked that Cellular was enabled for Alexa App. It is.
So is this some form of "retribution ?" Seems miss-guided sine they want me to use their app... The Irony is that I can't even re-enable Sidewalk of I wanted to..... because the app refuses to get online....
Maybe: Is the Alexa App trying to use the Sidewalk network that I just turned off ?????
Occasionally, my devices have trouble connecting to the internet. I have two Echo Dots (2nd Gen) in my apartment within audio pickup distance from each other.
When this alert goes off in Dot #1, Dot #2 hears the word “Alexa,” and then Dot #2 responds with the same message.
“I’m having trouble connecting to the Internet right now. Take a look at the help section in your Alexa app.”
Which then of course sets off Dot #1 give the same message again.
I’ve taken to shouting nonsense words while the message plays to drown out the word “Alexa,” but there has to be a better fix, doesn’t there?
Hi everyone, a few days ago I bought the amazfit gtr2. But when I try to use Alexa, the following problem appears. I have tried resetting my phone and accounts, reinstalling the apps, unpairing the watch and phone but it doesn't work.Can someone help me? Thank you.
EDIT PROBLEM SOLVED: I solved my problem deleting my Zepp account did with Gmail and i logged with my Mi account paired with the same google account to sychronize my data on google fit.
