A list of puns related to "Aimee Semple Mcpherson"
Musical with a book and lyrics by Kathie Lee Gifford and music by David Pomeranz and David Friedman (2011-2012). I am not sure if there is a copy of this floating around from one of the productions pre-Broadway, or Broadway but have always wanted to read it. The music is fun, but would like to match it with the libretto.
I should clarify that I am not saying McPherson is an amazing person. I personally think she was nothing but an act and many of her followers were a little wacko but that's not what I want to discuss. I'm saying that the overall impact she had on Christianity as a whole was good.
Whatever your opinion of McPherson, the fact of the matter is that she;
and
I just fail to see how she was harmful to Christianity. I guess someone could argue that she incorporated speaking in tongues and things such as that into her services and that doesn't always come across very well to anyone not deep into that side of the faith. However, couldn't the counter argument be made that any publicity is good publicity?
If I'm a 1920s-1930s church pastor and I start hearing that this new celebrity preacher is all the talk in American households, I'd be pretty ecstatic just at the thought that church and Jesus are in the spot light in the average American household. Suddenly, I have a new conversation starter with the average American when I want to talk to them about Christ.
"Hey, you like Aimee McPherson? Well let me tell you about my church down the rode. Please come this Sunday, we'd love to have you."
I'm really interested in hearing the other side of the argument because I am just failing to see how she was harmful to Christianity in America.

There are MANY similarities to SP's abduction story. I wonder if SP told police that the two Hispanic ladies lured her to their car saying they had a sick child.
There's also a shorter summary here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aimee_Semple_McPherson
Aimee Semple McPherson was one of the most glamorous women in the US in the 1920s. The evangelical preacher put on theatrical church services and used ground-breaking radio broadcasts to teach the gospel - but one mysterious episode in her life has never been fully explained.
On 18 May 1926, Aimee Semple McPherson went to Venice Beach, Los Angeles, to take a swim and write a sermon.
The female assistant who'd gone with her had to leave to make a short phone call from a nearby hotel. When she returned she couldn't see the evangelist anywhere.
As evening fell, McPherson was still missing and her followers rushed to the beach to join the search. One young man drowned as he swam out towards two dead seals which he'd mistaken for her body.
"A local newspaper even speculated that there had been a sea monster sighted off Venice Beach," says McPherson's biographer, Matthew Sutton. "They thought maybe this sea monster had swallowed McPherson whole."
Others thought that the evangelist would be miraculously resurrected. For five weeks, national newspapers carried rival theories about what had happened to McPherson.
Had she drowned? Had she staged the ultimate theatrical stunt? Had the weight of her own fame just become too much? Then one day in June she re-emerged in the small town of Agua Prieta on the Mexico-Arizona border.
McPherson claimed she'd been kidnapped - but had she?

Hi! Does anyone have the score to this or specifically the song "Why Can't I?" Thanks!
I keep forgetting to mention this excellent, fairly recent book. Aimee Semple McPherson and the Resurrection of Christian America. She was The Big Deal in Foursquare Gospel and -- via radio -- was nationwide in the 1920s-1940s. SBCer Billy Graham was much influenced by her, and her mother's version of the Bait & Bite Business Plan has been pretty much the template for everyone since then.
What armored vehicle is so laughably bad that it rivals the legendary Bob Semple tank of New Zealand for top spot?
Does anyone have the any score (PV, PC, etc) for "Scandalous"
