A list of puns related to "Agarwood"
I had the most delicious pozole verde during the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe celebrations yesterday that I ended up food coma'ing so hard I completely forgot to make this. I'm still on time, right? Right.
Gonna be real with you fam, the only thing I use from Wind Bell Fantasia is the glove pose. I got it on debut and skipped Healing Agarwood (something I have regretted at least once every month since and have now thankfully rectified) expecting to use the pieces tons because flowers you know? Well I did not know. If you want to spend about 12USD (BtP I curse you) simply for a cool glowing fairy orb being held between your pale white gloves, then this suit is perfect for you! The dress is a mess, the shoes are okay but lackluster, the cool detailing on the hosiery isn't visible in 90% of what would match it, and the earrings run right past 'niche' and into 'bizarre.' Also I think this review is probably the most scathing thing I've written since discussing Vanity Fair. Side note: still can't get over the person who commented on that board saying I'd convinced them to buy the darn thing, I hate that suit so much
Pros: the hair is honestly rather nice if you style a lot of blondes, I just don't. The little sparkly ground orbs are nice for what they are, and they're cool to use in SC to add bubbly lens-flare style sparkle. Not a super noticeable piece, but if you like little details then they're lovely. Plus the aforementioned glove pose, which is wonderful and basically always does well in comp. Makeup is pretty cute.
Cons: the transparency makes the items harder to style. Except the unposed gloves, which are nearly opaque and go over sleeves and have the huge ruff and that makes them hard to style. The big flower is nice, but I don't tend to use it because it's too light and transparent to really show up in comp and gets too muddled too easily when used on a background with any sort of detail. And the flowers don't match other floral things as well because they're bell shaped instead of wide open like the usual camellias or magnolias or roses, and when used on dark hair the hair ornament starts looking strangely plastic-y. Also the makeup is easily replaceable with other downcast eyes.
This suit isn't the worst, but if you're expecting it to be extremely versatile just because the glove pose is great then you're probably gonna be disappointed.

I'm an amateur Japanese incense enthusiast who started my journey earlier this year. I started mostly with more budget-friendly, well-regarded types from places like Japan Incense, but have been working my way up to the higher end types as well as some of the small batch offerings from others like Dr. Incense. I've been noticing a common smell with a few of them like a burnt plastic, for lack of a better word. It is almost unbearable to both my wife and me. Some remind me of the smell of when a dentist is drilling on a cavity in your tooth or if there was a piece of plastic that burned in the oven. So, I'm curious - what is it, exactly, that is giving off this scent? My brain seems to be acutely tuned and repulsed by it. I'd like to think that my olfactory is simply not skilled enough to appreciate such things, but I just can't ever imagine myself every liking this smell. This is most definitely a personal preference thing, but I'm hoping to educate myself to navigate these types of incense in the future. Thank you!
Edit: clarification.
Has anyone tried this discontinued fragrance? Seen a few people selling on eBay but literally nothing about it online! Intrigued

Greetings fragrances friends and loyal sidekick,
I have always wanted to do a throughout study of the fantastical oud. It has been one of the most challenging and interesting ingredient- both in its compounded synth form and the natural oil, since I start my deep-dive in to this fantastical world of scents and sensibilities. As much I want to do an actual study, my experience with the notes have been quite limited due to the following:
So I'm making this post, humbly hoping through the collective wisdom of reddit, to gain a modicum of knowledge regarding this fantastical notes. Oud can be so many thing- medicinal, herbaceous, woody, earthy, grassy, sweet, and sometimes even fecal. There's something undeniably comforting and irresistible about the note. Here are the fragrances that I used as point if references for this fantastical note:
Montale Black Aoud: 4.23/5 The stuff of legend -inspiring many popular posts on this very esteemed subreddit. The oud is strong, bitter, and unmistakably synthetic- a mix of marmite ice cream, hot asphalt and Turkish delight. Raw, guttural with an eternal longevity and something I enjoy in very small dosage behind closed door.
Heeley Agarwoud 4.56/5 The oud in here is done in a very approachable and refrained manner. It's soft, sweet but with a lot of woody nuances - there is a sense of rosy dampness - a dewy rose prostrates itself before the mighty yet gentle oud. I appreciate Heeley for his aptitude in creating artful yet very wearable fragrances.
Chopard Oud Malaki 4.43/5 I have a few tobacco fragrances and this one is probably one of the more rounded and approachable. The spices - tejpat, nutmeg and mace are present and complimentary to the beautiful amber dry-down. The oud(if there is any) has unfortunately taken a backseat, offer just a whisper of agar wood sawdust in the later hours of wear. For those who are afraid of offending while still wish to maintain the perfect façade of an epicurean mind.
Creed Royal Oud 4.23/5 I have a sample thank to a very dear friend. I'm glad I had it. However, i'm afraid this is the case when the prestige of the brand get in the way of an objective review. The oud is light, soft , camphorous but also appears to be a simulacrum - the astro tuff version of the oud. It's too perfect from a distance but the closer i smell, the l

I have recently falled in love with the smell of agarwood and would love to try agarwood scented incense sticks/cones. Any good brands ?
I've been collecting and burning incense for years, concentrating on quality Japanese and Tibetans, but have recently made the leap to agarwood and resins. The difference in overall experience is night and day. Consider getting an adjustable incense heater like the one offered by Mermade Magickal Arts or building a Subitism heater (see instructions at Kyrazen) and then sourcing the best quality resins and agarwoods you can find. You'll never go back.
What would be the best way to use agarwood oud chips other than in a setting with coal or magic coal?
Hello! I've started translating the book Agarwood Like Crumbs because I couldn't find any translations that aren't machine translated, and I'm really really really excited for the drama that is based on the novel!

I have notice that alot of inexpensive agarwood incenses that are low smoke seem to have a certain character that is offputting. Like what Nippon Kodo offers in their Mainichi-Koh series or in Baikundo's Ten Pei Koh, or Gyokushodo's Jinkoh Denpu. There is a strong monodimensional banyard note that doesn't seem realistic to real aloeswood, even if it gives an impression of it. I also notice that meditation sessions that use these incenses don't produce the deep relaxing feeling I get with higher quality incenses, like Shoyeido's Oboro or Nippon Kodo's Zuiun or Eiju (both are relatively low smoke), and those incenses, even though they are blends, seem to have a more realistic aloeswood note. When I meditate using biofeedback (Muse) with these incenses, I don't get the really high scores I get with a better balanced incense, in fact I would almost suggest they are worse than just having some nice, fresh air.
