A list of puns related to "Adam Curtis"
What angle of pandemic do you think will be dominant in the work or at least you wish to hear more from him about ?
Or alternatively what questions will he explore?
I remember hearing the term but couldnβt find the doc
Years ago I watched a documentary that talked about the British withdrawal from Palestine. I think it was an early Adam Curtis from the 90s but I can't seem to identify it from about of the episode descriptions. I remember it included an interview with one of the women who bombed the King David Hotel. Does this sound familiar to anybody?
The title is tongue in cheek. Iβve just been falling asleep to Adam Curtis docs recently.
Anyone got any bets on which antidawn song will be played over what stock footage?
Iβll take βcovid deniers yelling at nursesβ to βstrange neighbourhoodβ

You literally can't make this shit up.
It seems to me that Adam Curtis would be a good next guest or topic after the Sam Harris debate.
Curtis has definitely some things to say about tribalism and the hyper individualism that Sam seems to subscribe to. Thoughts? For reference: https://youtu.be/AUiqaFIONPQ
Has it happened and, if not, why not? I enjoyed him calling out Russel Brand as the βarch example of the hyperindividualism Iβm talking about.β Would love to see what would happen on JRE.
obviously his docs are very compelling and you do learn from them, and it's interesting the connections he makes between what was going on in mainstream culture at a particular time and what was going on politically and economically
read his wiki page lol and it says he is relectuant about identifying as being on the left/far left, certainly not a marxist i don't think, even though i'm sure he's sympathetic towards marxism. but also think he called himself a libertarian at some point, idk if he still does. what i do rate is thhat hes interested in analysing why attempts in the recent years at challenging tyranny / unjust power tend to fail, including liberal organisations, certain cultural moements etc. i think it's important to highlight the way the western establishment never fundamentally changes, at least not for the better, and that many 'changes' that appear to matter are usually trivial. i don't know much else about curtis outside of his documentaries so what do ppl think?
also, does anyone have other reccs for documentaries on political history or culture or economics , something as accessible but also compelling/entertaining as those by adam curtis?
i can only think of john pilger that i know of
i finally got an on-air response
i'm so embarrassed and they were so nice about it, but i'm the patrick that wrote several emails about adam curtis
i was shit-faced when i wrote every email, and i was shit-faced when i realized they were talking about me, super surreal (maybe i'm an alcoholic)
so, let's talk adam curtis?
priors: i love his work, and, worryingly, i particularly love "the power of nightmares." it actually really helped me chill out about islamic terror. i'm devastated to hear that it was chock full of errors
RMEMEBER: if adam curtis is ever on the pod, you have me to thank,f uckfaces
So I'm a history postgrad, I've just rewatched The Living Dead and I was struck by how he incorporates pretty sophisticated historiographical debates into his work, especially around concepts like historical memory. I'm not sure I've seen any other documentaries like it. So, I was wondering if anybody knew where to find where he gets his ideas from. In particular, if there's any reading about Thatcher and her use of British historical memory of WW2 in The Attic
Looking for some great documentaries

I'd be curious if we can get Destiny to watch this on stream. Covers everything from the history of Maoism and Communisms, to the Black Panther movement of the 60s, to mainstream and social media, and AI. Concepts in psychology and the MKUltra LSD experiments the US conducted. All in an attempt to discover and understand why everyone these days is obsessed with some political conspiracy theory or another.
Only it's brutally long. 6 parts, and probably over 7 hours long. But at least watch the first part, and tell you're not hooked.
