holding TAB should give you an active ping that has a shorter range, but keeps the outlined objects constantly in view. sould be good for dodging asteroids or seeing objects that obstruct your landing view when dark

An asteroid miner discovers a sealed alien ship. The miner enters the ship and, to their surprise, it activates, scans them, and then speaks. β€œWarning: Human detected, self destruct activated...3...2...1... just kidding, my creator always said jokes were the best way to break the ice. β€œ

Marco tried to recall what the Gabox corporation said the protocol was for finding an unidentified alien ship. His mind churning with useless information trying to find the specific piece he was looking for. Drill it? No, that didn’t sound right. Call corporate? The same corporate that shouted at him when he had a broken foot and needed time off work? That didn’t sound right, either. After careful consideration, he concluded that he must have skipped that meeting and referred to his own judgement. Deciding to search the ship.

The ship was far too rounded to be of human origin. Humans built their ships in an oddly pointed way, which made them an easy laugh for alien comedians. Marco could already hear the jokes in his head, the repeated sets of lazy comedians blocking out any meaningful thoughts. β€œWho the hell makes a round ship? How do you fly it?” He pondered, estimating that the only way to fly it was poorly. Given it crashed into an android.

Apart from the shape, its build seemed normal. A few metals wrapped around its outer layer with a thin blue unknown metal circling the doors and windows, acting as a sealant of some sort to prevent decompression.

Marco approached the door, having to crouch, finding it only reached about four feet, making it difficult for your average human to enter. When he crouched, a blue beam shot out of the wall, hitting his eye, running a scan that left him temporarily blinded in his right eye.

He dragged a finger over his eye, trying to rub it back to life, only making it worse. Now he was seeing little floating dots in his eye, which didn’t help the situation. Marco decided to still push forward, entering a small control room that had seen better days, covered in oil, with all its chairs and furniture tossed over the room. Before he had time to get a good look at the room, he heard a message.

β€œWarning: Human detected; self-destruct activated. 3-2-1…” A robotic voice filled the surrounding area, causing Marco to panic, trying to find the exit. In his desperate scramble, he hit his head on the short doorway, halting his escape. He was confident he was going to die, ready to make his peace, before another message followed. β€œJust kidding, my creator says jokes are the best way to break the ice.”

It took Marco awhile to process that. His right eye coming good by the time his heart had stopped trying to crawl out of his throat. He didn’t answer right away, only turning to face the control room, seeing a small floating orb beh
