Maybe this isn't the most impartial place to ask but I'm seriously considering the uni so I thought I might.
I live in Bristol at the moment and I really like it here but I want to move away from home for university. I haven't applied to Bristol uni so it's very unlikely that I'm staying.
My understanding is that Sheffield is smaller and a bit more 'boring' but I don't think I mind that very much, to be honest. It's mostly the university that attracts me but the Peak District seems like a great place to have so close. I was mainly wondering about the city centre and how boring it actually is. As long as there is a few places to eat/drink and maybe a cinema I can't see it being that bad.
So yeah, what's your verdict on the city for a potential university student?

Silver lining. I Hope that this forced used of online lectures will open up the university to offering more online classes after this pandemic.
Outside of MOOCS and St. Josephs, the UofA is pretty behind on offering online classes when compared with universities in Ontario, and BC. Hopefully this will help show that some of these classes can still run online. Would be a plus for students working in the Spring and Summer who would have difficulty making it to class between their work schedules.
My team placed second in the spring 3v3 open hosted by Florida Polytechnic University! So proud of how well we did with be scrapped together last second!

I keep seeing advertisements for the open university. Due to life, I never had the chance (the opportunity was there but life caught up too quickly) to go to uni. I have now found, after redundancy that a degree seems to bolster your appearance to an employer. Has anyone used the open uni, I understand it’s a respectable degree but I’m worried that it’s not as widely accepted as I am led to believe. I have completed A-levels which is my highest standard of education so far.

Whats the name of the antique/bookshop near University College/on the high road, and when is the music section open?
Visited it during an open day last year and it was super nice! There was a music section at the back of the shop, and if I remember, the man running the music section said it was open only on select days (including Thursday, which is when I went). They gave me a small leaflet for the shop but I lost it.

Does the University of Guelph have an open studies type option?
In Alberta we have 'open studies' . Its an option/temporary major that you take when you are not sure what you want to study yet or cannot fit the requirements of whatever major you want. Does this exist in the University of Guelph? I couldn't find anything like that on the website but University websites are always a nightmare to browse. Further more, I know that in the US you could take courses as a part time student in universities without being admitted, does this exist in Ontario?
