A list of puns related to "Windows Live Messenger"
Why was it so fun to have a conversation on that stupid thing. Maybe I was just an innocent naive 12 year old but chatting with girls on that thing was pretty cool.
I've tried multiple softwares, Facebook messenger, Skype, Discord, Trillian, Slack, AiO Messenger, Telegram, Pidgin, Hangouts, Mumble, ICQ, Digsby, aMSN, and a lot of crappy Discord clones... Nothing has a feature like this.
Messenger revival (Escargot) isn't compatible with WLM 2009 yet, and looking by the only dev existential crisis, it seems it will never be the case.
Despite the fact that I love MSN Messenger and think it is far better than all the softs listed above, the only thing i'm deeply looking for is a messenger app with picture staying on screen while conversing. The picture doesn't move along with the conversation, and if a user switch picture, it also switch on the other user window. Is there maybe some professional application that have a feature like this ?
Also, because I need to rant about this, WHY does every messaging app have so much wasted space ? Where the hell are compact contact lists with conversations opening on another compact window ? Sometimes I miss the old days.
Anyway, thanks in advance dear Redditors. (PS: I don't know if I'm asking on the right sub-reddit for this, i'm open for suggestions if any.)
Make life great again and bring back the windows live messenger, Skype stinks, each upgrade just gets worst.
Nothing will replace MSN it was the best IM until you guys discountedΒ it :/
Anyone else wants MSN back?
As the title says, is there anyway to use it in the modern day? Like maybe using an alternate server or something? I've just been looking for a hit of nostalgia as I recently saw a video about it and wanted to try it again.
Platform(s):
I played it on Windows, It was on stream and it was free
Genre:
I don't really know how to explain it, it was like an adventure/point and click game with Visual Novel'ish elements
Estimated year of release:
I played it on 2014-2015 so roughly before that date
Graphics/art style:
You play as the protagonist using his pc for chatting with his friends and surfing the web. The only thing I remember about the plot was about the protagonist who I think was in love with a girl, your goal was to choose the right words to send to her in a chat which I remember was MSN messenger.
Notable characters:
You, your pc and the girl you like.
Notable gameplay mechanics:
You choose the right words to send when the game tells you to do so, if I recall correctly the game had more than one ending, if you choose the right one's you will get a good ending and viceversa
Other details:
I remember the game took place in the mid 2000's, as a matter of fact your pc had windows xp, and MSN messenger was really prevalent at that time.
That's all I can think.
I'm sorry for any grammar errors.
So today I found out that when I tried to sign into windows live messenger, it's telling me I have to upgrade to the gawd awful 2011 version. I like the 2009 version thank you very much.
So here are the steps to take for those of us on windows 7:
I suspect this is because you can't install windows live messenger 2011 on Windows XP.
This will ask for admin privileges to launch.
If it closes right after after you doing this, you didn't close all instances of it.
Is there any working Windows 8.1 Modern/Metro application that can receive Facebook Messenger new message notifications and play sound notification?
So Messenger Mac is disgustingly bad and buggy, aMsn is not much better.. Slow, ugly, and buggy.
I like windows live messenger. Should I install parallels just for that software? Seems like a waste of space. I have no use for other windows programs on my mac, I would like to run the windows version inside MacOS. Any suggestions?
I was just forced to 'upgrade' to Skype but I feel like it is quite bare bones in comparison.
I used features like voice clips and remote assistance all the time but you can't really do much with Skype, it seems like.
Any other good IM clients?
Ok, so one of my friends just got a Windows Phone, and I wanted to be able to chat with them through messenger.
Well first of all, this was way more difficult than I thought. There doesn't seem to be anyway to add a friend on the phone. Soo I went on my computer on the Windows 7 app and sent him a request. He accepted. So now, in his messaging hub on his phone, messenger shows up as an option for me in switch to, but it says I'm offline. However, I have my status on my phone and on the messenger app set to available. Also, when I tap my friend's name in messaging and hit switch, messenger doesn't show up as an option.. This is really frustrating. Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Got it working. I'm not sure how, but I kept re-syncing Windows Live under settings. I also turned off Facebook chat and set my chat status to offline and back to available. It's working now, but I'm still showing as offline on my friend's phone.
What I don't get is why can't you add someone as a friend from the phone? It's pretty stupid that you have to add them on messenger on your computer first.
I miss it so much.
