A list of puns related to "Msn"
Whatever happened to those? Looking back, about 20 years ago, it was fun to just anonymously jump into some of those online chat rooms, not with the objective of finding a date or hooking up or anything like that, but just to chat about random nonsense with fellow online strangers and pass the time.
Nowadays it seems like those do not exist anymore, or if they do, they are just over run with sex bots and other such nefarious actors that I frankly do not wish to associate with.
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, Iβm just a random guy, longtime lurker in this sub (and others). Iβm not here trying to find dates or hookups or any such silliness like that, but just checking in, and down for interesting random online conversation. Feel free to post your thoughts or send a message if you are so inclined.
Hello everyone,
A bit of background on myself, I am a RN, worked medsurg for a few years and even got a master's in nursing. Although I really respect the profession of bedside nursing, I eventually wanted to do something different, something more. Naturally, I felt that I liked research, so I went for a master's in nursing. During the MSN, we had classes with NPs, and oh boy, did that open my eyes. I would say a good 80% of the education that we (and NPs) got were completely irrelevant, focusing on nursing theories, paradigms or whatever they call them. We would have to write stupid essays on nursing family care. I could understand this for the MSNs, but for the NPs? Don't they have "medicine" to do? Wouldn't an extra anatomy or pharmacology class be more useful, compared to a 4th family nursing theory course? There is also so much propaganda being taught there. We were taught that nurses, nurse consultants, nurse specialists or whatever fancy title they called are so special to the healthcare, system on how the big evil bad patriarchal physicians (even though medical school enrolment are 60% female?) are oppressing nurses from becoming more autonomous and all sorts of nasty stuff. We were taught that everything is so racist and patriarchal, but ironically the minorities and guys in our class got the worst grades for participation and essay writing. Eventually my NP colleagues graduated with minimal to no preparation, some of them wondering what the hell they just went through, while others drank the Kool Aid and started fully believing the nonsense. It is quite sad, since a lot of my NP colleagues are very competent nurses and kind people. It is the system that has failed them, and provided them with a very subpar education. Also, mind you, I went to a reputable brick and mortar school, with relatively strong international reputation. I can only imagine what the online diploma mills teach.......
So after this debacle, I realized that being a NP is not right for me. And now that I have finished my MSN, I am happy to tell you all I am now attending a top Canadian MD school. People ask me why? Why not just make more money now? Don't you want to make so much money as a CRNA? Why go through all these years of torture or debt? Isn't NP the same as doctor? And the answer to that is it is not for me.
I fully respect and thank the NPs who are practising withing their scope, providing safe and necessary patient care. But we have to acknowledge the deficiencies

Has anyone heard of these programs or have attended it? Or any advice as to which one may be more beneficial?
I am having trouble deciding between the two. Based on many posts, I do see that going the MSN route is not the popular opinion, but I would still like to keep it an option. I am fully aware that the after graduation, having an MSN does not necessarily give me any sort of advantage and places me at the same position as someone with a BSN, which is why I'm considering both! For background, I have a non-nursing bachelors, and intend on working as an RN for a couple years before applying to NP programs.
San Francisco State University EL-MSN
- BSN and MSN, with a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) emphasis
- 3 years (6 semesters, but no summer sessions)
- tuition ~$4000/semester = ~$32,000 total
- 1 year post masters FNP certificate option within 5 years of graduation
Samuel Merritt ABSN
- BSN
- 1 year (3 semesters)
- tuition ~$80,000 total
Both seem to have their pros and cons. SFSU is longer, but cheaper. SMU is shorter, but much more expensive. I'm sure both would give me a great education but also I'm still highly unfamiliar with everything! Any help is appreciated, TIA <3
I am interested in getting my msn in hospice and palliative care. I wonder if once thatβs complete I can get a post masters certificate to do an FNP? Or if those programs are only for people who already have graduate from an NP program (which has always been my assumption but what Iβve found on the web is not totally clear). If not, is there any sort of βbridgeβ MSN to FNP programs? Thank you!
Hey all, I was wondering if there are any forensic nurses on here? I've always thought about pursuing it, I live in Texas and am looking into my options. I just don't know if it would be worth it? I had a professor tell me once it was horrible, that there were no jobs but I keep hoping she was wrong lol. Any advice helps. Thanks!
