... keep reading on reddit โกHere's a list of books, stories, and essays involving linguistics, language, and communication, taken from the comments for 5 reddit posts asking of books involving linguistics (including one post from r/linguistics), a Goodreads list, this list from a linguistic (includes lots of great nonfiction resources as well), and from the sf-encyclopedia on linguistics. Here are links to Wikipedia's articles for linguistic relativity (the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis, although this is considered a basically disproven hypothesis) and conceptual metaphor (largely championed by George Lakoff; see Metaphors We Live By). Both are pretty relevant for fiction that explores how language might shape our thinking.
The list is organized by how frequently an author or work was mentioned from my 8 sources. I proceed each with how many they were mentioned in, so that number should roughly reflect how relevant an author or work is to the linguistics theme and how popular the work is. I've included basically everything mentioned, since I haven't read most of these, so that does mean some of them may only be loosely related to linguistics, or just do something that's interesting with language. I've included comments with the ones I have read on how much it actually incorporates linguistics.
A couple weeks ago I did a guide to efficiently tackle the Moments Of The Month cards. And a fortnight later, here I am again, because 2K went bigger with the Playoff Push agendas.
This one is a lot harder, with a better(?) reward at the end and a whole lot more cards on the way - 31 up from 21.
Do note that all of this was done on the PS4 version of the game, first on the PS5 then on the PS4, but all these tips are current gen. You will never see me playing next gen. No sir.
There are 42 steps to achieve Tatum and I've completed 35 on my main account and 10 on the secondary. So I don't have Tatum yet, but the path is clear. Just win each of the division Clutch Time games and get five 5 points with Tim Hardaway. I, however, haven't been enthused to start that since my entire Clutch Time lineup deletes after leaving that lineup screen, whether I win, lose or even play a game.
Anyhow, forget Clutch Time for now. We are going to do as much offline as possible before heading online since the entire thing starts with TT Offline.
So let's begin.
Of course, all the rubies should be picked up first to unlock the next tier of the division. This is simple and straightforward. Go into TTOff and slaughter the CPU with 3 Knicks, Magic, Pistons, Rockets, Thunder and Kings.
You now have (1) Steve Novak, (2) Nick Anderson, (3) Darko Milicic, (4) Eric Gordon, (5) Derek Fisher and (6) Corliss Williamson
(1) STEVE NOVAK
(3) DARKO MILICIC
We're going to the Tim Legler challenge here so Tim is your 3rd as he's the price of admission.
First thing we want to do is assign Darko to Rod Strickland. When Rod is running up the court, give him a free lane to the basket, but shadow him to the side, then when he reaches the basket, block him. He won't hesi, so even before he attempts to lay it up you can be in your block animation. You will learn the timing. Don't worry.
Steve Novak is simple enough. Call "Give & Go" with your Tim Legler (your 1 or "PG") and Novak will be on a wing, guarded by their Tim Legler. Shoot the 3 eight times and you're done. This game goes to 40, so you'll probably find you will shoot fourteen 3's with him to win it as it's the easiest way.
Meanwhile on the other end of the court, if you haven't got all 15 blocks for Darko and Steve has got you a shot or two from winning the game, whenever you're on offense, run out of bounds on the opponent's side of the court. This is important as it resets the "full court run" Stric

2021: AD got hurt in the first round, leading to the Suns winning in 6, Kyrie Irving got hurt and James Harden wasn't 100% for the final 3 games of the series after suffering a injury in Game 1, Kawhi Leonard got injured aganist Utah and the Clippers later lost to the Suns in 6.
2020: The Bubble affected teams physically and mentally like the Bucks and the Clippers and in the finals Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic were hurt, thus making the finals easier for the Lakers.
2019: DeMarcus Cousins got injured in the first round and wasn't 100% in the finals, KD got hurt aganist Houston and only played 11 minutes in the finals before tearing his achilles tendon, and Klay tore his ACL in Game 6.
2018: Chris Paul got hurt when the Rockets had a 3-2 lead over the Warriors and blew it.
2017: Kawhi Leonard got hurt in Game 1 when the Spurs were leading the Warriors by 20+ and later got swept.
2016: Stephen Curry wasn't 100% on his knee, Bogut got hurt and Green was suspended for Game 5.
2015: Kevin Love and Kyrie got hurt.
2014: Serge Ibaka wasn't 100% in the Confrence Finals, also the Heat could've potentially had a 2-0 lead heading into Miami but the AC failed and LeBron had to leave the Game when it was close.
2013: Russell Westbrook got hurt
2012: Derrick Rose suffered a career altering torn ACL, and potentially changed the outcomes of more championships.
2011: Manu Ginobili got hurt in the last game of the season and the Spurs lost to Memphis in the first round.
2010: Kendrick Perkins was hurt and the Celtics got destroyed on the boards in Game 7.
2009: Kevin Garnett got hurt.
2008: Andrew Bynum was hurt.
2007: Robert Horry hip checked Steve Nash, which lead to Amar'e Stoudemire and Boris Diaw getting suspended for Game 5 with the series tied 2-2 for the dumb reason of leaving the bench.
2006: Bennett Salvatore called a foul in Game 5 on a Dwyane Wade drive when 2 refs had a better angle than him, and there was hardly any contract at all.
2005: The Pacers looked like Contenders until the Malice at the Palace happened, which lead to Ron Artest getting suspended for the rest of the season and he was the Pacers best player, and Stephen Jackson and Jermaine

Lou Whitaker - Whitaker has a claim to be the most glaring omission to the HOF although I probably would go with Dick Allen. He had 75.1 WAR hit a 117 OPS+ for a 2B before 2B became an offensive position got 77 fielding runs and was a gold glove 2B and churned out 15 3 WAR+ seasons. Definitely a story of consistency over dominance but one I find compelling.
Bill Dahlen - 75.2 WAR is pretty much automatic induction. 10000 PA with a 110 OPS+ as a SS with with 139 fielding runs. HEโs a classic example of how being sort of disliked while also being very good for a very long time in a balanced way tends to get overlooked. Pretty obvious HOFer in my book
Home Run Johnson/George Scales/Dick Lundy - I frankly do not know enough about the negro leagues yet to know all of the under appreciated borderline candidates. However as u/beluga122 pointed out there are some candidates that are widely seen as deserving by negro league historians so I'm going to include them here. I'm not really ranking them like the others on this list because I just don't know enough to do that.
Jack Glasscock - Widely acknowledged to be the best SS in early baseball he had 61.6 WAR in very shortened seasons was one of the few players that was able to stick around year after year. I think he didnโt get in because he played too early to be remembered well by much of the old-timers committee and he created tensions with other players by refusing to join other players and go to the union association similar to how Kevin Millar caused animosity in the 1994 strike.
Bobby Grich - 71 WAR is HOF worthy. He has 125 OPS+ for a 2B, 4 gold gloves and decent defensive metrics. Most saber metrics fans are pro-Grich so not going to go into too much detail but Grich certainly deserves induction.
Chase Utley - 64.5 WAR. 40.9 WAA pretty much undoubtedly the best 2B of the 2000s onward if weโre at all penalizing Cano. Heโs a HOFer. He sometimes gets doubted for lacking HOF vibes and his limited PAโs but a 119 OPS+ prior to the sort of 2010s revolution of middle infield was very good and defensive metrics give him credit for being a very good fielder while also being a good baserunner. Kind of like Abreu heโs a 5 tool player who should be in the HOF.
Willie Randolph - Randolph is at 65.9 WAR so youโre going to have to make a pretty strong case about why Randolph shouldnโt be in the HOF. I use to dismiss Randolph as something of a compiler but
