Ok to go into Washington Union Station while your train’s locomotive is changed?

I’ll be in a sleeping car on the Crescent and would prefer to head to Starbucks or a fast-food place in Union Station instead of having Flexible Dining onboard.

While the train sits in Washington Union Station, may I go into the station for a few minutes?

I’m aware that the train has a set time for leaving and I’d plan to be back well before the scheduled departure time.

Does the Washington D.C Union Station have the Amtrack Temporary Bag Storage?

I'm taking Amtrack from Penn Station, NY to Union Station, DC tomorrow, and I have a luggage bag that I need to store from 3 pm to 8 pm. I found this on the Amtrack website.

Temporary Bag Storage

Customers holding tickets for Amtrak travel may store their items in Parcel Check service when available for $10 per item for 24 hours. Check the station detail page for the stations you'll be visiting to see if they offer this service. Customers that don't have an Amtrak ticket may store items for $20 per item for 24 hours (valid photo ID required).

Would anyone know if this service is available in DC? I'm having trouble finding the information online Really appreciate the help.

Layover time at Washington Union Station

Hello everyone. I’m planning to take a trip round trip on the northeast corridor. I booked a ticket for the 1 pm Acela train from Washington DC (Union Station) to Metropark. However, I need a ticket to get to DC from Metropark on the same day. I have 2 options: taking the Palmetto, which arrives at 9:30 am, or the Northeast Regional train which arrives at 12:35 pm. Which train should I take? I’m leaning towards the Northeast Regional train, but I’m not sure if 25 minutes is enough time to account for delays and changing tracks at Washington DC. I also don’t really want to take the Palmetto because a 3 1/2 hour layover wouldn’t be ideal. What do you all think about this? Let me know your thoughts on which train I should take below. Thanks in advance!
