A list of puns related to "Volkswagen Golf Mk5"
My gti ignition has been playing up, first it wouldn’t let me turn the car of like it literally wouldn’t move and then randomly just decide to move, then later on I went to turn it on and the key wouldn’t turn into the on position, it only turns enough to let me unlock the steering wheel. Eventually I forced it so much that now it turns a full 360 degrees ? What would be the best way to fix this ? If I get a ignition switch from another Volkswagen with the key will It be just as simple as replacing it
Tried to start my car this morning after having no problems driving it yesterday.
Looked under the hood and saw that a small tube had been disconnected. On closer inspection it appears to have blown as it is split and no longer sits comfortably on the nozzle.
I've tried googling engine diagrams etc. but cannot find any information about what it is.
I've taken photos of the problem to try and help explain.

I'm not sure that it is enough to prevent the car from starting. When turning the key the car is making a noise as it attempts to start but cannot turn over. It started for a second the first time I tried it and then crapped out.
If you could get back to me as soon as possible with information/advice I'd be very grateful. I really need this car tomorrow. Thanks.
This is the first car I have ever bought and I went off the advice of my parents when buying it, however I have a couple of questions for you guys.
First of all, I'm looking at replacing the car radio because the stock one is a load of shit, I'm looking at getting a radio which has a built in satnav for about £150-200, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations/advice on a specific car radio or on specific parts that I will need, from my understanding I may need an adaptor of some sort?
Secondly is that, the car came with very limited service history, we put it through an MOT and it passed without any advisories but from my understanding they don't look at the Timing Belt in an MOT? (Please correct me if I'm wrong) The car has done 100,000 miles and because of the limited service history I talked the seller down a few hundred just in case I would need to put in a new timing belt. So my question is, is there any way of telling or knowing whether I need a new timing belt? If not I'm just going to have it done just in case it has never been changed.
Sorry if I haven't really made much sense, I'm in a bit of a rush!!
Help me out
Hi i recently bought a mk5 golf 2.0 FSI.
The only visible issues known are below.
Ignition on car not started - Noise from center console sounds like cd's moving around in a changer.
If idling for about 20mins the engine cuts out. Will start again after 40 minutes.
Bulb warning light on dash - all lights appear to work correctly.
I have connected my diagnostic device and have the attached fault codes. I am wondering whether there are multiple issues or whether they are all caused from a single or couple of issues.
Any help on this would be great. I need guidance on where to start first logically.
Thanks

Hi. Are there any VW ICE experts on here might be able to give me some guidance?
My son has called me in to help with his RCD upgrade. He has successfully installed an RCD330 (noname 187B) into his Golf Mk5, but was then disappointed with the speakers. So he went and bought a Focal VW upgrade kit - but it turns out he ordered the wrong one. He has ended up with a 2way Focal IS165 VW speaker set which comprises a woofer and a tweeter. It turns out that this kit is for a Mk6, not a Mk5. The socket on the woofer is the same as on the old woofer, but when plugged in it sounds terrible. The tweeter sounds OK.
Once I got involved the first thing I noticed that his Mk5 has a 3 way speaker system - woofer mid and tweet, and there is a VW crossover installed in each door. I'm not an expert but I have a reasonable background in tech - I think this is the problem. With the new woofer, the original mid, and the new tweeter, it still sounds terrible. I am thinking that the Focal speakers are not getting the frequencies they need from the VW crossover. The crossover is labelled 1K0.035.463.D.
I am not looking for a magic fix, my gut tells me there isn't one. He bought the wrong kit, and we can't send it back because too much time has gone by and the silly boy cut the tweeter wires. But I am struggling to see where we go from here. Perhaps we need to replace the VW crossover with a generic 3 way one? Will the Focal woofers and tweeters we have spring into life with a new crossover, with the original mids? Any other suggestions would be welcome.
This is the kit he bought
Many thanks
I'm looking to buy a parcel shelf for my 2009 Golf MK6 and can't figure out if a MK5 parcel shelf (for boot/trunk) will work? Anyone knows?
Looking for a daily that I’d be doing 15,000km (about 10,000 miles) a year in. I’m turning 19 and have owned a 2.0tdi 8P A3 (2009). Looking for something to take out to car club meets, go for cruises in and drive to uni in. My budget is about $22,000 NZD so both fit into that easily.
