I was reading an interview with Pastore recently and he said that David Chase had plans to make a Soprano film based after the events after the series. James Gandolfini wanted a break from it but he was willing to go back and play Tony for the film. So Tony actually didn't die in the finale.
Chase was planning to bring Pussy back aswell. He had it figured that Tony dreamt about Pussys killing and that Pussy actually went into witness protection. Tony was sick a lot around the time of Pussys death and he'd put the dream down to that.
A few of the actors and Chase had a dinner in 2012 after Steve Van Zandt's mothers funeral and thats when Pastore found out all this. Gandolfini and Chase were talking about the potential of a film at the table. Interesting interview.

Champagne Vinnyβs friend is dropping some serious knowledge over here. It definitely struck me as odd that Vinny got so upset because Briana didnβt respond to him spilling the champagne the same way he said he would have.
