A list of puns related to "The Wire (The Wire episode)"
In 2004, the Baltimore Orioles hosted the Chicago White Sox for one three game series. May 3, 4, 5. There is a shot of the scoreboard with the White Sox batting order.

The White Sox used this lineup on one day only. Wednesday, May 5.
Chicago won 6/5, taking two out of three from Baltimore (Baltimore had won game 2) Baltimore scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to close the gap to one run, but it was too little, too late. Chicago releiver Shingo Takatsu got the win, Orioles reliever B.J. Ryan took the loss. First pitch was at 7:07 Eastern. Attendance was 20,978, with a three hour and one minute game.
Baltimore would go 78-84 on the season, finishing 3rd in the AL East.

... keep reading on reddit β‘This is bullshit, we're on episode 11 of season 3 and it's all about to go down and now we can't continue ugh. Anyone else experience this? We don't have HBO, where should we go to watch it now?
The Wire, took precisely 6 episodes to finally click. (Fewer episodes for the smart folk who used closed captioning).
CoaH is entertaining, but I've seen few glimmers of "art." I hope it gets renewed for a second season, but it needs more writing chops, and faster pacing. Also the Kevin Bacon character? I love you man, but you need to go into a detox facility and disappear for a season so the other characters can bloom.

My boyfriend and I are finishing watching the very last episode of The Wire tonight. It's my first time watching all of the series, his fifth time. We're going to have a glass of wine to celebrate.
I reluctantly started watching it because he watched one of my favourite TV shows from beginning to end and so I had to return the favour. But now The Wire is my favourite TV series. Am sad it's coming to an end!!
This is what I got for Xmas from him coz now I'm more obsessed than him! https://ibb.co/k52pQN2
This show started when I was in high school just never got into watching it. So far the show is insane I love it. I use to watch The Corner back in middle school. Love real shows like these wish Iβd gotten into it when it back in HS. I seen little YouTube clips of scenes over the years. Last night I took the time to hop on HBO to watch it.
"Just 'cause they're in the street doesn't mean that they lack opinions." - Haynes
"Lambs to the slaughter here." - Marcia Donnelly
So I was watching a youtube video explaining why the wire is really good. I honestly cant remember what the video was called or who made the youtube video. But he said an interesting thing about it, "The wire doesnt catch your attention, it requires it. Once it has your attention, you are rewarded" and i cant stop thinking about that. The wire isnt one of them shows you can just put on in the background while you're doing something else, it just wouldnt work with that. You've gotta pay attention, be invested in characters and their story, and throughout the wire you will see character development. A lot of the wire will have expected you to pay attention (like when Vondas gets brought back again from season 2 to season 5) but once again, if payed attention, you will be rewarded
I was an "AP English" guy in high school and I took many advanced English classes in university even though it had little bearing on my degree. I tell you this because it means that maybe I've been trained to see allegories and homages in things even though they may not be there. (Believe me, English professors love to reach to find subtext that IMO may not be intended or even there at all.)
However upon viewing episode 7 "Windmills" I was struck by what I believe to be a very clear reference to the HBO series "The Wire".
Maybe it makes me a heathen on this sub for not remembering the characters names, and I apologize, but for the purposes of this scene it's inconsequential.
1: One of the four crew of the Rocinante, "the muscle" who is tasked with guarding 2, and sealing 2 into the airlock.
2: A spy for Corporation on loan to the U.N. whom has stowed away on the Rocinante and was discovered. He has been captured by 1 and is being led to the airlock (as a prisoner).
The Scene:
...
1: "Has nothing to do with me, we're just caught up in the churn is all."
2: 'I have no idea what you just said."
1: "This boss I used to work for in Baltimore, he called it the churn. When the rules of the game change."
2: "What game?"
1: "The only game. Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds it into something new. Guys like you and me we end up dead. Doesn't really mean anything. Or we happen to live through it, well, that doesn't mean anything either."
...
Now to me it seems clear with the call out of "Baltimore" and "The Game" that this is a reference to "The Wire" and that they basically lay out the theme of that series. But I am curious to know what you guys/gals think? Am I reading to much into this?
Regardless, this was a great scene, and these themes are great for a character drama. I'm really enjoying the series so far and hope that it doesn't end before the creators intend.
Thanks for reading, and I appreciate your feedback.

Avon Barksdale is becoming paranoid and thinks he's being watched. He's also worried his phone is being tapped. He also thinks there's a snitch in D'Angelo's crew and he's told not to pay anyone until it's sorted. D'Angelo isn't too pleased when he hears Avon has given Stinkum a new territory. Judge Phelan visits the squad to sign the warrants to clone D'Angelo Barksdale's pager. The numbers they're collecting are coded and don't make much sense. Det. Prez Pryzbylewski figures it out however. McNulty and Greggs try to get information from Omar.
