A list of puns related to "Wee Bey Brice"
Theyβre both named Roland. How weird is it that the only duplicate name in the show is Roland? Such a random name.
Very uninteresting post but idk who else would care.
Thank you for your time
Anyone else surprised by that? Thought he was mid to late 30s at least π€―
Hassan Johnson Wee-Bey is back folks and he's so dam good at this character.
Name is now Drew on Flatbush Misdemeanors. Show is good too but he's the gem imo
Amazing
I donβt think I knew Wee Beyβs name was Roland, and if I did, I didnβt realize it was yet another (albeit on-the-nose) similarity between the cops and βcriminals.β
(And this might be a stretch, but they both accidentally shot cops.)
So I'm currently watching the Wire for the third time. In season 1: Wee Bey takes D'Angelo to his house to show him how to take care of his fish. It is never mentioned that Wee Bey has a wife and a son, they're only introduced in season 4. In season 4 it is also clear that Namond is taking care of his father's fish.
So: why did D'Angelo have to take care of the fish in season 1, when Bey's wife and son are perfectly able to do it in season 4? Is this a small plot hole or does anyone have a better explanation? I really like the scene where D'Angelo almost shits his pants thinking Bey will murder him, so maybe that's why they did it? Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me anymore when Namond and De'Londa are introduced in season 4.
On my probably 50th rewatch. In season 1 when Bey, Stink, and Savino take Dee to the pit beef restaurant Wee-bey orders his sandwich with extra horseradish and everyone asks him how he can eat it with all the heat. He says the trick is to say βFuck itβ.
In the last episode of the season Wee-bey is in the interrogation room and he knows heβs in jail for life for shooting a cop, so he again says βfuck it, for another pit beef sandwich and tater salad Iβll go a few more (admitting to more murders)β.
That pit beef got bey saying βfuck itβ.
Just one of the million little nuggets of excellent writing that makes this show so great. Such an interesting way to tie those two scenes together and really define Wee-beys character.
I asked this in an earlier thread but it got buried. This has always bugged me.Was the origin of Wee Bey's name ever explained? Or was his actual birth name Wee Bey Brice?
At the place everyone goes to for pit sandwiches, DeAngelo asks Wee Bey how he can eat βall that hot shit.β He says, βthe key is to say fuck itβ I may be slightly off but thatβs the gist. I suspect that itβs symbolic of his ability to murder without remorse for Avon and Stringer.
So when Wee-bey is confessing to all the murders he cops to the murder of Ghant, th state witness in D'angelo's case. Everyone knows Bird killed Ghant but Wee-bey is going to take the fall because, why not? In the next season, we see the prosecution of Bird for the murder and never really resolve that Wee-bey confessed to the killing. Did I miss a scene or do they never resolve that he confessed but they don't charge him?
Damn, Wee Bey and Bird only got 500 each for torturing and brutally murdering a man and dumping the body?
Was this a mistake?
... is there ever an explanation about where/how the nicknames originated?
Wee Bey, and Chris, being loyal, took all the crimes of their organizations onto themselves, taking a life sentence. I always wondered, has there ever been something similar, documented, on wikipedia? I mean thatβs something heroic basically
Does anyone remember which episode from season 1 this quote came from? One of his more cold-blooded lines and I THINK it had to do with Kima getting shot.
He's speaking with someone and they're talking about her being a cop and he says "always some shit, right?" like it's some type of minor inconvenience.
Here's a neat detail I haven't seen pointed out: in this scene, Chris tells Michael to come early and thoroughly stake out the place you're going to be shooting up. Otherwise, someone else might be doing the same to you (https://youtu.be/LBdF3QUgTBo?t=368).
While this pertains most obviously to Mike getting the drop on Snoop later that season, it's not the only time this happens. Back in Season 1, Wee-Bey and Stinkum's first planned hit together goes disastrously wrong because Omar has been set up and waiting for THEM well in advance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJdCAaYjIy4).
If we learned anything from the show, it's that the Baltimore justice system is going to take the easy route. Hence, they let Bey take the fall and don't waste time on Bird.
Continuity error? Artistic license?
Omar has been that dude from jump. I didnβt think Iβd like him when he was first introduced.
Wee-Bey is definitely a soldier. And I respect him so much for loving his son Namond enough to let him go (with Howard βBunnyβ Colvin) he definitely put Namondβs mom in her place when he made the decision to let him go. He still let Namond know that heβll always be his father. It was bittersweet but definitely the best decision for all parties. Namondβs mother is crazy to want that lifestyle for her son just so she can maintain her lazy ass lifestyle.
Bodie was a soldier. Flat out. He always stood his ground and never folded. I was really conflicted when I saw it was Michael who killed him bc I really like Michael.
I am rewatching The Wire again for the 7th or 8th time and I noticed something that never really occurred to me before.
There are many parallels between Avon & Marlo throughout the whole series however I just noticed there may have been a parallel between their most trusted muscle, Wee Bey and Chris.

In season 1, Wee Bey and Stinkum are planning on killing Scar. Stinkum suggests killing both Scar and his accomplice whereas Wee Bey lets him know that Scar is the one to kill and theyβll let his boy go as likely he wonβt be any trouble. Wee Bey shows a hint of discipline here, aiming to take out the target and leave the rest of the crew. Ruthless for sure but smart enough to not go extra than he needs to.

Again, Wee Bey shows his discipline when talking to Stringer later in the series. His plan was to kill Orlando and Orlando only, regardless of who else was there, he was the target and was disciplined in that respect. He doesnβt know Kima and doesnβt think she will be trouble either, he wouldβve let her walk but it was Little Man who ended up shooting her.
In contrast Chris has a similar role for Marlo whereas he is absolutely ruthless.

Chris not only goes for the main target but he takes out the whole family and goes after the innocent too. Whereas Wee Bey showed he would let people walk, Chris was the opposite and would rather leave no one behind regardless of gender and age.
This is something I noticed. A subtle difference between the two characters who both shared their last scene of the series with each other. Please let me know your thoughts and if you noticed this too.
It was definitely not the home that Namond and DeβLonda lived in that Wee-Bey took DβAngelo to before D took Bey to Philly. But they exist so shouldnβt fish feeding duty be pretty much DeβLondaβs only job?
Just finished the series (first time viewing for season 2-5) and I loved it, but this is bugging me so thought Iβd take it to the experts.
